Hi Mal,Mal wrote: If you look it up in the real world, a portion of beggars take begging to the extreme, and they do make a good living. Some of them even make enough money to be middle class. Also, beggars can insert themselves into situations where they earn more from people trying to help them.
One such beggar from my hometown had a dog which he used to attract attention. It was later discovered that he was making ~$50k/year in solicited funds. I might add that this was in one of the poorest counties in the state.
Firstly thanks for your comment - although I'd kind of like to keep the Q & A thread for Qs and As, really.
So, Mero, the answer to your question stands ~ if you're wanting to be a beggar who is able to maintain a lifestyle, then you'll need to take up the profession of maybe acting and apply it to street performances, acting in such a way as to provoke sympathy etc.
To be absolutely clear - having a dog will not be enough. Not in Almund, where the pirates live and the slaves cost 250gn to start with, where there are empaths and Immortals-blessed individuals knocking around. If you want to discuss that, look at the sort of alternative ways of doing it I'm suggesting, Mero, I'm happy to discuss either in PM or the OOC.
Looking forward to the next question!
