The Broiling Lagoon
The Broiling Lagoon is a major fault fracture that was created by the destruction caused by the eruption of the Faldrass volcano during Ashan arc 720. The location it opened in is the site of the old Faldrass Luxury Resort that was destroyed by the eruption; specifically in the natural hot springs that had once made the area so popular as a tourist attraction. This fracture only opens at some point during the last twelve days of each cycle, and only for a period of 2 - 3 days each time before nautrally closing.
This fracture is a maze of caves form from fiery red rocks, and half filled with shallow pools of clear blue water. Without a portable flotation device of some kind or the ability to walk on water travelling through this fracture is slow work, as each pool is just deep enough to make wading through it a slow and exhausting process. In this fracture however speed is vital. There is a "bubble" of scorching heat that randomly patrols around the lagoon, filling the entire length of a cavern at a time with enough to boil the pools in seconds and melt the flesh off the bones of any creature caught by it. The coming of this heat bubble can be detected by spotting steam in the air, hearing a high-pitched whistling of steam or feeling the temperature rapidly starting to rise, but outrunning it is not so easy. The closer the bubble is to the heart of the fracture the faster it travels.
