Finding the right paths through to Mama Joe's kitchens wasn't easy, but with Kurt himself accompanying him, Clavam found he could learn a lot about planning routes ahaead of time, against prepared patrols of watches. Not that the Forbidden Post had a great many soldiers with which to guard their own, they got by largely on the secrecy of their fort, but there were internal patrols that had to be bargained with.

They spoke in hushed whispers as they sussed out the lesser patrolled corridors within the fort, that lead through Mama Joe's kitchen, and out of the fort. Unfortunately for Clavam's purposes, there was only one known exit to the fort. That being the entrance. "How do you reckon we'll make it past those people stationed in the front? That's not far from Bassett's office, and I don't want to risk a confrontation with the old man."

Kurt shot a look over toward Clavam, and shrugged, "We make as if we're moving carriages to the mines, squirrel a little bit here and there in the containers, not a lot, just enough to hide them."

Clavam nodded, "Then when we get to the rabbit hole we're storing our supplies, we shove them in the stash." He grinned, "I like that plan."

It felt strange talking in such cooperative terms with someone you meant to betray. Kurt had no idea how Gladis intended fully to throw him under the wagon, by virtue of his misbegotten affection for Leronis, Nall's protectiveness of Leronis, and his and Dock's enmity. But Clavam found it was easy enough to feign comradery when actually working with Kurt, and ignoring what the future held. The future wasn't here yet, no use fretting about it.

They followed along the path, casually strolling through it rather than sneaking. There was little point in sneaking when they knew they belonged to the fort. The only thing they had to conceal was their obvious interest in the surroundings, and potential pathways out to the main corridor through the fortress. How wide were the corridors at certain points. Enough to fit a wagon through? Clear enough that the wheels wouldn't come off from the debris it rolled over? There were many considerations that the two had to go over, but Clavam had as much confidence in Vane's stealth experience, as he had in his own tactical expertise.

However, eventually came the time for them to depart, and stop planning their routes. They had ascertained the shortest and best ways to get through the Fort, without attracting undue attention, as well as a document forged by Gladis, bearing Bassett's copied signature, allowing them leave to deliver carts to a certain mine in the south of Bailey's Peninsula. It was time to deal with Leronis and Nall herself. Which meant mostly talking to Nall, as Leronis had little to say.

Kurt departed for his morning training, while Clavam proceeded to Mama Joe's kitchen.
