We're Off To See A Magpie!
The early morning aura swept easy over Smooglenuff Manor, drawing the last few straggling creatures that had not yet emerged from slumber. The air crawled after, trailing a chill as well as the lively banter of fauna starting their day. The well maintained bushes that nestled at entrance of the serene structure shook gently, as a nearly puppet-sized and bare-topped wagon squeezed through its lower leaves. Yina and Alder made nimble work of maneuvering the old wagon up on to walkway and began to scope for any weak points in many hasty mends the tunawa had managed to do, finding them at least survivable. Yina had already pulled the thick wool tarp from the wagon, to replace it with the more weather appropriate cotton tarp. It was a muted moss hue, just the side of opaque to deter snooping eyes and bugs but still wispy enough to allow a lovely breeze to flow through the wagon.
The pair of them had 'decided' it was best to hole up in the manor's barn, in an effort to keep warm during cold season on the island. By 'decided' meaning, Alder spurned every idea that had involved the rodent traipsing any further than the front doors. Yina did not chide him too much on his stubborn attitude, as she herself was starting to feel the effects of the cold. They found a little niche of the barn, and waited out the season. They could have hid away forever in that corner, but if there was any hope to begin the fresh start Yina yerned for, they needed to re-supply. Yina also hoped to get a look at the bounty board again, as the first bounty she chose seemed to be too far gone to track.
One last knot secured the tarp over the wagon nicely. The tunawa swiped her brow and let out a small breath.
"Alder, I think we are finally ready," she chirped, "Do you think we forgot anything? I can't get this feeling off me. I feel like we are missing something."
Yina always had that feeling, no matter if she packed nearly all of the possessions they own, she always felt like she has forgotten something. Alder simple nosed around the wagon and gave her a huff.
"Fine, fine, we are good and ready. Let me get your harness on."
She efficiently secured the harness around Alder, and then to the wagon, and off they went.
