"Damn cows." Bryn said the harsh Haltunga cutting through the empty fields. He was alone, walking through the freezing cold in search of an escaped cow. He was furious, he provided them with food and shelter from the weather and how is he repaid? With one of them finding some way to escape. He marched through the snow and wind following the clear tracks of his cow, they were not exactly difficult to find in the snow. The cow had followed an odd path winding about across the fields, it was like ti had been looking for something. Yet, clearly there was nothing around, all that could be seen for miles around were snow covered fields, the willow woods and a few farm houses dotted here and there.
He huffed heavily from inside his large fur coat, the hood covering his head and protecting his ears from the wind. So much could not be said for the rest of his face which was red from the cold wind blowing against it. His nose had begun to run leaving him sniffing every few meters, but he was hot on the cows trail and that was how he found a way to be comfortable with trudging through the freezing farm land. He could not afford to lose a cow, he needed them all or he would be out of money and soon forced to flee back to Uthaldria and tell Snorri he had failed. He knew the day would come that he would return there, but that day would be by choice not from fear of starving to death.
It started to snow now and he sighed again, a long puff of white coming from his mouth and leaving his hood. As luck would have it he now spotted the cow, his eyes narrowing as he looked at the patchy coloured creature about 100 meters away. Had it not been snowy he would have spotted it a long distance off, but with the whited and black patched hide she was hard to spot. His pace quickened as he approached the cow, but so did the snow, it was already falling in large heavy flakes, landing and settling on his coat.
"You damn cow, get here." He said gruffly as he threw the rope he had been carrying over its head and neck. He tugged on the rope and the cow followed him lazily. He was lucky to be walking with the wind behind him otherwise his face would have been getting blasted and frozen solid now. The only warmth provided for his face was now coming from the breathe that left this lips as he struggled through the deepening snow. He was beginning to get cold, colder than he could deal with. He was sure the cow was struggling too, but her thicker body worked to insulate her much better than his skin and coat. His beard did keep his lower face warmer though, however, it did little for anything above his cheek bones.
The wind now came less straight and started to blow in all kinds of directions, blasting snow in his face against his sides and back. He could hardly see as not only was it Cylus but because the snow hitting his eyes made it hard to keep them open. He did, somehow, manage to spot a pair of glowing windows off to his left. Out of fear of getting lost and freezing to death he changed his path for them. He walked faster, desperately trying to get out of the freezing cold.
He eventually made it to the front of the house where he banged heavily on the door. His beard full of snow and the rest of his face red and sore. "Hello." He shouted as he banged on the door again forcing the cow to stand closer to the house where there was a little more shelter for her. He really hoped it would not freeze to death out here. At this point he must have looked very odd, covered in snow with a cow in tow and standing before some random persons house. He felt a fool, but he had no choice but to seek refuge and so he knocked one last time and waited for an answer.
