16th Cylus 717
"This is nice." Vega lowered her head onto her husband's shoulder, feeling his arm around her as they lay together in the field. The cornflowers were everywhere and the suns were shining down on them. Contentedly, she wrapped her arm around his waist and lifted her head to kiss him softly, propping her head on her hands. "It's been a lovely trial. Thank you so much." Evidently, there had been a picnic and they were laying together in the high grass and cornflowers on the cliffs whith looked over the sparkling sea. Not that he could possibly know it, but just that trial Vega had listened (unwillingly) to the tale of how a man had proposed to a woman. This was it.
"We should go back to the boat, soon, don't you think?" She didn't seem inclined to go, quite content to be warm and comfortable with her husband here on the cliffs. Nestling her head against his shoulder, she looked up at the sky and sighed. The feeling of tranquillity was overwhelming and she allowed herself a moment of just laying there.
As they lay in an apparent picture of domestic bliss, a black plume of smoke began to rise out at sea, becoming visible in the sky above them. Vega sat up, straightening and she looked. "Husband! There's a boat ~ Immortals, there are pirates!" She clambered to her feet and looked at him in horror as, in standing, they got a better view.
Down there was a ship ~ their ship ~ and true enough it was under attack by another ship made from black wood. It had black sails and exuded an air of ominous. Vega looked at her husband with an expression of absolute panic on her face. "The children! Oh! What do we do!?" They could get down there, but if they did then they would almost surely end up fighting. The ship next to theirs was the cause of the plum of black smoke as its sails burnt. They had only a few moments before it would be too late.
Dreaming she might be and, as unlikely a prospect it was that the young Biqaj woman would ever marry, she was still herself and so she bent and grabbed her longsword and her bow and had every intention to make her way down to help her family. With, of course, her husband at her side.
