[Mature] Ilaren is the occaision

Finn O'Connor
:: 3rd Ashan, 717
From the moment their hands touched, Finn realized he'd made a terrible mistake. She squeezed his hand and pulled him in, only to whisper those omnious words into his ear. Adults, most of them driven close to madness, had been hurling threats at him for many arcs, yet none had managed to faze him like Ilaren. A shiver crawled down his spine as she let go of him and took her leave. He stood motionless for a few more moments, his eyes darting about the broken inn as he tried to process just what he'd gotten himself into this time.

The guests seemed quick to recover and simply picked the chairs that were still whole back up and soon got back to their irritatingly loud drinking and chatting.

"Orange...?" he blinked lazily at Fridgar, "orange juice?" The broad-shouldered bear-manmight just as well have been speaking a different language. such was the confusion on Finn's face before, a few ticks later, he finally seemed to comprehend. "You jus' tore the place apart and now ya want orange juice?!" the boy squeaked while his cheeks started to glow. He couldn't even begin to fathom what was going on in Fridgar's head to think that having a drink in the freshly redocarted tavern was a remotely good idea.

His eyes narrowed and he crossed his arms over his chest, then scowled at Fridgar with a hawkish frown. "Fine," he huffed, "just as long as you don't get any ideas about helping me. I dun't need your help." Nevertheless, after Finn had delivered the message he'd come to bring in the first place, he found a mildly damaged table in the corner and sat down, still trying to wrap his head around all that had happened.

Rharne? "'Never heard of the place." The Lothar explained, straightening out his back. Upon realising that he might have offended the woman's homeland, Fridgar corrected himself "But I'm sure it's an awesome place!" Nailed it. Somehow, she didn't look offended. Perhaps It was the twinkle of amusement in her eye. Did she think he was funny? At least someone did!

Then, the moment they shook hands, something changed. A surge of power rushed through him, starting at the palm. The shock in his eyes was more than apparent, but he didn't reel. Instead he looked to his hand with just his eyes to see lightning, electricity, carving its way through his skin. It didn't hurt, it more tingled, leaving red-white streaks and curls in his flesh, sort of like the branches of a tree. As his arm with alight with energy, so too became his mind. This was his immortal he was shaking hands with, Ilaren.

The Immortal he'd been praising for the past two seasons with various outrageous acts. At last, she'd noticed him. A faint smile crossed his lips before parting in a toothy grin, a proud one. The Lothar didn't stop shaking her hand, even after the deed was done. Fucking hell. Why hadn't she told him sooner? He'd have fought harder if he'd known she were an immortal! Or so his excuse went. The excitement of achievement claimed him in battered and bruised euphoria. He had been marked.

When the boy shook her hand, she whispered something to him too. Was the boy to become a proud follower of Ilaren? It certainly looked like it! Fridgar maintained his smile, crossing his arms before the immortal who spoke very quietly to the boy. This was a proud trial for Fridgar, sometrial, the boy would also be sporting the make of Ilaren while smashing up taverns in her name!

Then, as soon as she'd appeared, she was saying that she had to go. "Already?" Fridgar asked, almost disappointed. Fridgar had so much he wanted to talk about, so much he wanted to do, but he would have to wait until when? Next they met? How long would that be? regardless, she'd given him a mission - keep beating people up, keep drinking and keep... an eye on the boy? Fridgar cast his coloured eye to the boy while the black one sort of rolled, what sort of trouble was he getting into?

Without another word, Ilaren made her way to the door before leaving into the streets of Etzos. Fridgar was left, awestruck. Wow. This trial, he shook an immortal's hand while getting marked at the same time. His eyes traced the new markings from his palm and up his arm. He'd thought that this would be the end of his mission, but in truth it had only just began! Orange juice? the shrill voice below him called out, seeming annoyed. "Yeah, do you want some?" he replied after the boy's tiny temper showed.

When the boy turned and made his way to the table, Fridgar looked with concern before lowering his eye patch. nevertheless, he had accepted his offer of orange juice. The Lothar would step over the groaning bodies of fallen men and walk up to the bar. it seemed that the bartender had all but fled in the ruckus, probably through the back door. He rolled his shoulders, everything hurt. A few knocks revealed that no bartender was coming to serve him, so Fridgar helped himself. He poured one tankard of ale and a glass of orange juice and slapped five gold nel on the bar top, just to be sure he wasn't stealing.

Finally, he made his way back over to the partially splintered table and sat opposite the boy before handing over his promised OJ. "To Ilaren!" he toasted among the groans of broken men, "The greatest immortal to ever grace this tavern!". Following his toast, he knocked back the tankard with his newly marked right arm.

Overview:

Great fun, both of you! This was a fun and quirky thread and I was really pleased to be the prophet to moderate it! Fridgar's antics continue to be completely over the top ~ he is going to get himself killed but wow he'll go out with a bang! Finn is a fantastic pc, and a great foil for Fridgar too. I loved how the two of them interacted in this thread.

Fridgar: You have the blessing of Palenon ~ please ensure that this is recorded in your CS and your devotion tracked appropriately. As you grow in devotion up to 99, you will unlock new abilities. As and when you meet the requirements for Exalted, you will need another moderated thread. Well done!

Finn: You have not been cursed, although your pc doesn't know that! Ilaren is not going to curse a child, but I have updated your Prophets' Notes to include what happened here ~ and Ilaren will be keeping an eye on Finn to see what he does in the future.

Well done, both of you -as always a pleasure to write with you. Please do PM me if you think I've missed anything or you have any questions about this review / thread!
