[Global Plot 717] In Ethelynda's Name

Yana inclined her head as Rupert gave his praise. She needn’t be reminded, and though it would probably be a bad thing to swell with pride at his words –or worse yet, respond with a reply she would have usually given—she couldn’t ignore it either. Humbleness was a good quality for an honorable knight, was it not? “Not at all,” she smiled slightly, “My Lady guides my step.”

They were told to keep their statues as a gift, and Yana gave the awfully dressed old man a grateful nod, sliding the thing in her domain bag. Perhaps it would come in handy later, who could say.

She quickly fell into step next to the hybrid, their other companion a few paces away from them. “Why did you refuse the pin?” she wanted to know, using it as a jumping off point. She was in fact glad that the Avriel had done so, for if the man at the gate had been who she thought he was, that pin might have been trouble. That or Ethelynda might have subtly tried to get the hybrid her rightful accessory, which probably meant trouble as well. Why else do something like that? However, it was questionable if a being representing Honor would have interfered with the game in any way however. If Yana had to guess, she believed the Immortal might have been thinking that any interference outside of the preparation phase was unfair.

“The last pin may have been an effort to give you what you should have gotten in the first place. Did you not find it odd there were only two pins?” she began, keeping her voice down so their companion couldn’t overhear. “Wasn’t it odd that Ser Ja’mir was so quick to lay claim to one? Why did he not stop to consider why there only were two? Why not discuss the matter with us?” She paused for a moment, looking the other woman in the eye. “I do not trust him. Something is off. He might be a--” They passed through the door.

And Yana had suddenly vanished.

The Third Puzzle
S
ilence sat between them, instructed as they had been not to speak until they spoke the solution to their puzzles. Nightshade focused her attention on hers and Ja'mir focused on his. He looked at Nightshade, first, though, as Yana disappeared. His expression showed that he was not entirely happy about that, concerned for what it meant. Had he heard what Yana (or Saeri as they knew her) was saying? He did not react if so.

However, Nightshade completed her puzzle and Ja'mir did the same with his. He seemed to be moving squares, sliding them along to create a picture. As he slid the last square into place, a few trills after Nightshade completed hers, the picture frames in front of them disappeared.

"Well done!" Rupert said, with a smile. "You may proceed to the next puzzle." He smiled, but Ja'mir looked at Nightshade and frowned slightly. "Mi'lady, should we consider our colleague? I understand that she considers there may be a saboteur among us, but it is not our Lady's way to leave someone behind. We should seek to find our companion." He was formal and very earnest and he looked at Nightshade with concern on his face. "There may be sabotage happening, Mi'lady, and if so all we can do is be the best advocates of our Lady that we can be. Such is my belief. I would suggest that we question this man and seek to ensure our companion's safety. We were put together by Her, after all."
Critical Moment!
The decision made here is an important one. The final decision is Nightshade Eld's. Do you continue and leave Yana behind or do you attempt to find out what happened?.

Please be clear in your post OR pm me with the questions you would ask, if you choose to. I can then let you know the answers so you can determine your final action.

What you do here will have consequences and time continues to tick. I have included the third puzzle below, in order to ensure expedient movement for you.
And so, they moved into the next room. This one was different than the others, but then that was probably less surprising. This room was a single path but along that path (which seemed very long) were a series of doors. As they approached, the door in front of them slammed shut and there, in front of them, stood Rupert. Much more formal, dressed in a good white suit, he spoke.
Door 1
"In order to open this door," Rupert said in a monotone voice. "You must answer correctly. Scholars throughout Idalos have examined this piece of writing. They all agree, it is unusual. Why is it unusual?"
► Show Spoiler
Depending on their answer, or how long it took them to work it out, they moved to the second door.

Door 2
"In order to open this door," Rupert said in a monotone voice. "You must answer correctly. In the following piece of text, give the missing word in what the courier said."

Please note: movement between groups is entirely possible and may happen for reasons which will seem entirely random.

There are a number of hidden objectives throughout the game. I will let you know if you unlock them.

NB: I will post again on the 18th November. Please note that I will do this even if no one has posted. For the purposes of the plot, it is imperative that all the threads I'm running go in tandem. Why this is will become obvious as time goes on.
We will operate on a "three strikes and you're out" basis.

For this round: You may PM me up to four times. Each PM must have one guess / solution for the door you are currently in front of. So, until you have passed Door 1, you can not guess Door 2. I will reply and tell you the result of your guess. Then, when either you have completed both doors or used all four PMs, you are expected to post in order for the PMs to take effect. Your actions will not count until you post.

May the Immortals have mercy on you all

In your next post

Please be aware that I will be taking into account how long you take to talk and, when determining who goes through first, that will be important.

[Global Plot 717] In Ethelynda's Name

Image
Those in glass houses tended to be the ones to throw the most stones. Night didn't look any more comfortable than her companion when the woman disappeared, but surely it was for an entirely different set of reasons. Nightshade didn't want to jump to any assumptions, but it was unnerving to say the least, and those who were quick to cast blame on others were usually trying to get eyes off of themselves. All of this added up to one simple truth. Saeri wasn't their friend. The reasoning seemed like it lined up, but life was often betraying to the eye so Night would hold her reservations on any snap judgments for the time being. For the time being her eyes locked with her remaining companion, the confusion and uncertainty clear as day. But that was the only interaction they had before trying their best to finish their puzzles quickly.

After finishing her puzzle Night couldn't help but release a small sigh of relief when Robert gave the affirmative. She was glad she'd thought about it carefully, but then again puzzles like these were relatively easy to her compared to other things. Patterns that were easy to recognize tended to be fun even!

The woman was about to start heading for the next puzzle when Ja'mir spoke up. For a split trill she looked torn. This would be precious moments that they would be loosing, but at the same time, it was the right thing to do. What if someone else really was sabotaging the three and they were all supposed to be working together? What if their companion had managed to get herself hurt? The woman hardened her features, lifting her head slightly, "very well. I see your point, though I'm not sure how much we'll be able to find out. We'll need to be quick too," she said.

She approached Robert with the intention of asking two questions. "Do you know where Saeri went?" If he answered yes then she would ask the next question, if not then she would urge Ja'mir that there was nothing to be done if not even their guide knew where their party member was. The second question would be "Is she safe?" If the answer was yes, then again the woman would urge Ja'mir that speed was of a dire importance and if Saeri was safe then they could try and meet up later. If the answer was no then she'd ask "how do we get to her?" Depending on that answer the two would continue. No matter what series of answer they would receive though, they would likely need to go through the puzzle. "If you want to ask any more questions feel free, but I think at least one of us needs to start working on the next puzzle."

After that, the woman would approach the first door that stood between them and the home stretch. Robert was quick to explain the rules of the puzzle and Nightshade already found herself hating it. Couldn't it be a little more specific? She looked over the passage once or twice trying to judge the answer.

"Is it the soulful oration?" She asked the door, trying to give it her best shot. The door remained firmly shut. Alright. This was okay, everything would be completely fine. But she couldn't help feeling a slight spike of panic in her chest. They'd already spent precious time asking Robert questions and now she was struggling with the puzzle. She was quick to try and give her second answer, trying not to waste too much time thinking.

"Is it the fact that it says "walking back from a visit down in Scalvoris Town's manufacturing district" and then says "for a mayor of Scalvoris Town, straight out of City Hall"? It seems like they're contradicting each other?" Again the door stayed firmly shut. The woman had great skill when it came to spacial problems! But word problems were a different story entirely. She could already start to feel herself getting frustrated and flustered, but she did her best to preserve and keep moving forward. Of course, frustration won out in the end and a sharp growl shot from the back of the throat.

"Is it all of it? Because this entire stupid paragraph seems 'unusual'!" She hissed at the door in what was originally intended to be snarky, only for the door to twitch slightly. "Oh, you have got to be kidding me," she said as her expression turned blank. She looked over the paragraph one more time. What more did it want? She didn't see what else she would need to add to it.

"There is no letter 'e' in the entire paragraph. Not even once. That's why it is unusual." A sarcastic sneer left her mouth as her tone of voice was the only way to mount her growing frustration. Of course, she'd already noticed that the first time around. But it was too simple and the fact there wasn't an 'e' in the paragraph couldn't be the thing making it strange. Could it? To Night's amazement, wonder, horror, and pure rage, the door finally swung open. "Oh you've got to be kidding me!?" She snapped. It had taken her so much time and so many tries, and the answer was that? "What in the world gave any indication that the answer..." she trailed off quietly. "There's no time for me to yell at a door, is there?" She commented, either to herself or Ja'mir depending on if he had stayed behind to keep talking with Robert or had tried to do something else to find their missing companion.

Quickly the woman moved to the next door, hoping she would do better on this one.

OOC

So, lately I've been completely bashed over the head by the IRL stick. I luckily remembered to try and solve the riddle, I did not remember to ask you about the questions I intended to ask Robert about Yana's disappearance. So I kind of wrote that paragraph to roughly deal with it and wrote it under the assumption that he wouldn't send us on some side quest to try and find her. I would have tried to get ahold of you, but as I'm posting this you are likely asleep and this reply is due tommorow. I can edit my reply if I need to depending on what Robert answers.

The Third Puzzle
N
ightshade asked questions of their guide and answered them. Her questions were sensible, logical and clear. Rupert answered her without emotion. Yes, he knew where their companion was. When the second question was asked, he frowned and gazed off into the distance for a moment. No, he said, she was not safe. How did they get to her? They could not, Rupert said. Heart and head! unlocked! Night has been both efficient and sought to help. Extra reward released! Three times, in front of the first door, Nightshade guessed and three times she was incorrect. On the fourth, probably most obvious answer that Night had worked out immediately, she ground it out through frustrated teeth and then the door swung open.

"I am afraid we would have waited there all trial, mi'lady," Ja'mir said as they stepped forward. "My skill is not with word puzzles." As she and Ja'mir stepped towards the second door, he let out a small sigh as he saw that it was something similar, but he frowned and tried to help.

As they both studied the words written in the text there was a small popping sound and, next to them stood their missing companion. Ja'mir frowned deeply, she was standing, bow drawn and arrow knocked ready for release. Whilst the bow and arrows were entirely mundane, it was still an unusual situation. "What happened? Are you well?" Ja'mir asked.

It now fell to them to solve Door 2.

[Global Plot 717] In Ethelynda's Name

Image
Though her exit did not come unexpected in the sense that Yana hadn’t known about being transported a second time, she hadn’t been sure when it would come. In an instant she travelled from one room to another, swapping out one set of companions --or enemies, considering recent events—for her old group. She hadn’t known she’d be sent back to them however, so the sight of them was quite a surprise. Did this mean the third group of Immortal champions was not even worth sabotaging? Did this mean that Ethelynda’s group was ahead of the others?

Her mind was reeling, thoughts racing as she observed her surroundings, and while her body was still stuck in a fight or flight response. Her emotions too had shed the unnatural calm and compassion, bombarding her from all sides. She vaguely was aware she held the others on arrow-point, bow drawn and ready to give Ja’mir a third eyehole. She was breathing heavily, chest heaving, sweat collected on her brow. If either of them were keen observers, they might notice her eyes and gaze seemed a little … wild.

As she collected herself though, she lowered her weapon, seemingly recognizing the others, and realizing she was no longer where she had been before.
“Ethelynda be praised,” she muttered, putting her arrow back into its quiver at her hip, the bow taking its place on her back. Though she was praising the wrong Immortal for getting her out of that mess, she was fairly sure he’d get the message. Her relief was genuine. She could have died back there. Without Faldrun’s intervention…

She’d wanted to settle it without resorting to violence however, saboteur or not, she was well aware that Cassion likely wouldn’t be pleased with her not adhering to the spirit of the game. The Immortal of which the other group had been the champions, they probably weren’t either. She had stepped into the swamp that was the Immortals’ affairs, and had been sucked deep into the mud, it closing up above her head. There was no way back now. She could only give Faldrun’s task her all, and hope that he would shield her from the wrath of the other Immortals afterwards. Not that she thought it likely, and she’d rather not use that as her favor either.

Oh yes, she was in deep over her head now, something that truly wasn’t too unexpected. It had been bound to happen sooner or later. It mattered not. She had a goal to reach, and she would get there no matter what. Sacrifices had to be made. Vengeance was a double-edged sword after all.

“I—I am fine,” the Yludih panted, “I escaped certain death, I am sure.” She wiped the sweat from her brow, tucked a lock of stray hair behind her ear, and approached the door. “I was transported to the room of a competing group. To advance, all puzzles had to be solved. There was one for each individual present,” she explained, her eye scanning the puzzle and the pattern within the words. “I told them I refused to help. This still is a competition after all. They attacked, I defended myself. Then I was back here.” It wasn’t a complete lie, but it wasn’t the truth either. The mixing of both made it believable.

The puzzle itself wasn’t anything special. It was easily solved, and Yana was not going to waste a moment to tell the host the answer. The other group might be making their way to the gem already after all, and the last thing she needed was running into them a second time. There would be no talking, she believed. And if there was, and Yana’s companions were made aware of her deception… she’d be done for. The solution to that problem would be to shoot the two of them right now, but it wasn’t as simple as that.

True, the position was favorable. If Cassion’s game was even remotely fair, the puzzles presented would be more or less the same for each group. Meaning that the Hybrid and Ja’mir had been able to solve the previous room’s puzzle. This was the third room, most likely, which meant it was the last. Beyond this door the gem was waiting for her. If she shot both of her companions here, she’d be getting it for sure.

If she got them by surprise, that is. She’d entertained the thought while she’d had her weapon drawn, but back then the both of them had been wary. Perhaps they’d have expected her not to shoot, but they’d had their guard up. A drawn out fight was only good for handing the other team their victory. Besides, Yana did not know the combat capabilities of either of her companions. It was likely she would perish if she’d missed a shot. No, that hadn’t been a good idea. She had to do this without violence, and with deception alone. She could make a run for the gem, but if the others suspected her of not being on their team…

The door before her was too narrow for the hybrid to fly through though, and the rooms they’d been in hadn’t been too wide either. The half-avriel’s feet weren’t suited for running either, if their birdlike appearance was any indicator. Then there only remained Ja’mir… he could shoot her from behind with his crossbow, or more likely –since violence was frowned upon—he could outrun her. If that happened she could still resort to violence.

“’Women’,” Yana stated loudly. “The answer is ‘women’.”

Then, if the door were to open, she would express to her companions that they needed to hurry, before squirming through the opening as soon as she could fit through it, then breaking into a sprint the moment she was in the next room, heading for the gem as fast as she could.
Off Topic
Keep in mind that this last paragraph is only valid if the answer given was indeed correct, and the door did open. If not, please ignore it. :)

[Global Plot 717] In Ethelynda's Name

Image
Night felt shock run through her body when Yana reappeared wielding a bow. She wrapped her wings around her body quickly and as best as she could, a secondary habit formed from finding herself in enough random fights to have a natural defense response to anything that could vaguely be considered a "danger". Night's own instincts began screaming at her as she took in the full appearance of their companion. She didn't know how exactly best to describe what she was looking at, other than perhaps a wild animal. Yes. Night had lived among them long enough it was easier to compare people to animals. Yana looked in that moment like a wolf, a wolf that moments prior had been a proud hunter but something had happened and it was backed into a corner before it realized the full depth of what exactly was going on. The look was familiar to Night, she herself being a hunter of animals and people alike had seen it enough times on both for it to be a sight she was well equated with. The wild, vicious, 'I'd do anything to live' kind of look was always frightening because an animal that was backed into a corner was the most dangerous of all, and mortal beings no matter how intelligent they claimed themselves to be would always be the relatives of wild animals. "Ease your heart friend, there's no danger here," the half-bird cooed gently trying to force all of her remaining calm into her voice. It was the most she could do given the situation without actually appearing aggressive herself and causing things to escalate.

Night watched the woman lower her weapon slowly, seemingly become calmer, Nightshade herself did not. It would be impossible for her to calm down after that. The sudden appearance of Yana combined with the immediate threat, her system would be on high alert for a while yet. "Praise indeed," Night responded to Yana's words.

Were any of them not in over their heads? It was a valid question, to say the least. They were tampering with beings many addressed in the same breath as the name of 'god'. And yet, they acted so very similar to humans. Spiteful and childish at times for the tiniest transgressions, and then never harsh enough when it truly mattered. Would they overreact? Would they underreact? That was the true question of this game, and the mortals playing it were exactly that. Playthings. All they could really do was play the part assigned to them by their specific gods and simply hope for the best.

The half-breed was still a little cautious as Yana explained what happened to them, remaining close to Ja'mir as if she might scoop him up in the armor of her wing should Yana return to her frazzled and dangerous state. Her posture relaxed slightly but it remained fixed to Yana. Quickly the final member of their party took note of the door, the final thing standing between themselves and the gem and spoke her answer

If the door opened, Yana took off running. As soon as Yana took off running she would urge Ja'mir to follow her as quickly as possible. Yana's assessment of the half-avriel's feet was as true as most. She couldn't run, at least not very fast. She'd put in the time and effort to practice and she'd gotten over the issue of her strange feet a time ago. She knew how to at this point, but that didn't change the fact that flight was easier in most cases. Even if she could run with her feet being the way they were, she still wasn't exactly very quick having very little reason to build up half the strength in her legs as she'd dedicated to her wings. She'd have to amend that one of these days. "Say close to her!" She'd told Ja'mir, her voice urgent as she convinced him to run as fast as possible to try and keep up with her. If she turned aggressive or traitorous, well, the woman still had one or two last tricks up her sleeve.

The Third Puzzle
D
etail is important.

That seemed to be very much the case in this place and as Yana reappeared with her companions, both Nightshade and Ja'mir were concerned, on high alert. It was most unusual, this whole thing and Yana's appearance following her disappearance was unnerving to them. But it seemed that it was not only Nightshade and Ja'mir who were surprised.

Rupert, their guide, blinked and looked at Yana in some surprise as she reminded him of something. Something which could, in fact, set them back quite significantly. There had been, after all, only two of them when they walked in and now, well now there were three. It caused a pause and Rupert stopped and looked at them. At her. Because two of them had entered this puzzle, but now one of them who was not one of those two had provided the correct answer. Would he allow that to be the answer that passed? It would make a difference, an enormous difference and he had to follow the Rules. Even when they did not account for a circumstance, he had to follow them.

He was, after all, the embodiment of them.

With a frown, Rupert considered and the door in front of them shimmered, like heat rising from the desert floor. For a moment, just a moment, it seemed uncertain what would happen and then, the door opened.

And there, in front of them was a run to the opening to the next room. Yana ran, Jam'ir ran to keep up with her, at Nightshade's urging and the hybrid did her best to keep up. As Jam'ir ran to catch up with Yana, before he had managed to (and it wasn't certain that he would, in fairness), suddenly there appeared in front of Yana a third door. It was literally directly in front of her to the point that she ran straight into it, but of course the door was closed. It hadn't been there when she started her run and she hit it full on, face first.

"One puzzle per person, yes. That is how it is for them and how it is here," said Rupert. "You are correct," he said. Which meant that, since there were now three of them, there must be three doors for them. Since, if Yana's correct answer was not accepted by him it would have disadvantages the group further, potentially, three doors was the only answer.
Door 3
"In order to open this door," Rupert said in a monotone voice. "You must answer correctly. Of what do I speak?"

[Global Plot 717] In Ethelynda's Name

As the host accepted Yana’s answer, the doors to the final room opened, revealing a corridor, which the Yludih immediately ran through, urging on the others as an excuse. She wasn’t going to reveal herself as an undercover agent of a rival Immortal to them at all, and if she would she’d do it when she had the gem in her hands, and her victory was assured. Perhaps she would add in a little monologue on how despicable the Immortals were, and how their pawns were nothing more than unwitting slaves, happily serving their masters. However, such things were only a good idea when failure was no longer possible. Revealing yourself and then monologuing on how easy it had been to deceive her companions, only to then be bested by said companions at the very end would be a genuine embarrassment.

For now, Yana just ran, hoping that when she had the item in her possession, Faldrun would transport her out of this danger zone.

Alas, it was too soon for her to think about such matters, it seemed, as another set of doors materialized right in front of her. The Yludih slammed into them at full speed, forehead first and the rest of her body just a moment later, the impact knocking her on her rear, stunned.

Naturally, seething rage burned inside her throbbing head as the host spoke up, commenting on the number of puzzles in need of solving. If she’d been on her own, and if she’d believed it’d help, she’d have throttled him and broken all his fingers one by one in hopes to force him to open the door. It seemed he could manifest traps, doors and puzzles though, so it wasn’t a good idea to torture him. So Yana remained calm on the outside, slowly getting back on her feet, rubbing her forehead and cussing under her breath.

Well, time to solve another puzzle then.

Only, it was no puzzle. This time there was a riddle, and the Yludih groaned internally.

Puzzles could be solved, but riddles were a matter of either having heard them before, or finding that the words just clicked in your head, revealing the answer. Upon reading this one, Yana experienced neither of those. Still, she tried by dissecting the lines and simplifying them, making the whole riddle a tad more clear, the meaning of the phrases bared.

Her first thought was time, as time could go by very slow or very fast depending on the person experiencing it, but time was already mentioned in the last line of the riddle, so she dismissed that thought. Death was the second, but that one too was part of the description. A wizard, maybe? A Wizard is never late, after all.

It were the first two lines of the second paragraph that made her think of one particular thing –if it could be called that—though she wasn’t too sure of it. Sure, she could explain all traits listed as being part of her answer, without it being too far-fetched, but she still wasn’t certain. She did not feel the pieces fall into place. Still, it was worth a shot.

“Is it a shadow?” she asked/answered, the uncertainty clear in her voice. A shadow could be slow as a snail if it was the shadow of a snail. A shadow couldn’t be late since it never made any appointments (technically, the one casting the shadow did), but more importantly, if the shadow was attached to a punctual person, the shadow too would never be late. Naturally, a shadow accompanied it’s … bearer… through their lives, and all physical objects and creatures had one. When a person died, the shadow did not, remaining with the corpse, though when the corpse was burned, buried or if it decayed into dust, the shadow vanished along with it, thus not staying for very long afterwards.

To Yana, that made sense, but whether it was the answer the host wanted to hear, that was another matter altogether. If it wasn’t, well, she didn’t have another guess. They would be stuck behind the door, most likely, unless the hybrid or Ethelynda’s Knight did know the correct answer.

[Global Plot 717] In Ethelynda's Name

When Yana and Ja'mir took off running the half-breed was quick to do her best to try and follow the pair. Unfortunately, it didn't change the fact that her feet were not made for running. Although she did her best and she was at least able to keep up enough that she remained a consistent distance behind the pair. Her feet made a clicking sound as the talons crashed into the ground every once in a while. She did her best to try and keep them from touching, but it was a hard task, to say the least. Every time they clicked on the ground she internally flinched, a tingling pain shooting through her toes. That was when Yana came to an abrupt halt, Ja'mir barely stopping before he, in turn, smashed into Yana. The half-breed, given her good distance, was given plenty of time to slow down and stop before running into the pair in front of her. Another damn door with another damn word problem. Lovely, absolutely lovely.

She listened to the puzzle quietly, approaching the door so that she was standing with Ja'mir and Yana. Her eyes were fixed on the door in curiosity. It made sense that their lovely hose would give them another door given that they now had their third member back, but Night couldn't help but be a little upset. The first door had been an immortal damned grammar rule, while the second had been an infuriating fill in the blank. Neither puzzle had really lent itself to the answer very well. You could pull from all the knowledge in the world, but the doors gave no hints as to what they were looking for. At least she didn't think they did. Perhaps if she and both her companions were wrong and eventually answerless... hopefully it wouldn't come to that.

She quietly watched her two companions inspect the door before Yana perked up for a moment, hesitantly answering 'Shadow'. The half-breed didn't really feel like that would make sense as the answer, but it if was she wasn't the person to judge. She'd done fine when it came to the other puzzles. They made sense! But these doors, how in the hell was she supposed to know the answer unless she'd heard the riddle somewhere before? Should the door open Night would give Ja'mir a slight shove, trying to urge him to either enter before Yana or keep up with Yana, as should the door open then the woman was sure to make another mad dash. If the answer didn't work, then Night would step forward slightly with a furrowed brow and a couple of ideas her own.

"It wouldn't happen to be the seasons, would it?" She questioned, her voice sounding hopeful. She moved towards the door, pushing past Yana to inspect it while she answered, trying to see if it would give her any clues. It was the smartest idea she could come up with. Being the one in front of the door would give her the chance to inspect it should her answer be wrong, but push her way through the door first if her answer happened to be right. Should the door open to the answer, that was exactly what she intended to do.

Should the answer she gave be wrong, the woman would huff slightly. "Is it time? Is it a clock?" She would snap at the door, her tone a little miffed and a little more than accusatory. "Those always seem to be the stereotypical answers..." She'd mutter to herself bitterly as she glared up at the door, her nails clicking against the ground while she shifted. Should all else fail, she would inspect the door and nearby walls for any kind of hint, hoping that something would make itself a little more obvious. Immortals know it needed to be spelled out for her...

The Third Puzzle
I
t was certainly not teamwork which got them through, but they got through nonetheless. As the word "seasons" came from Nightshade, the final door opened.
The final door.
And there, in front of them was the final door. It was strange, because it was small and at the end of a corridor where they would be forced to touch shoulders were they to try and stand side by side, it was so narrow. Yet each of them saw it right there in front of them. Each of them reached out their hands at the same moment and, each of them touched the door at the same time.

And then?

Well, then, each of them were through. To the next step
