At the base of the brightest lighthouse

The food, the drink and a lot of the entertainment was free. Why not take advantage of it? Blessed by Cassion, and all that entailed so far as his appetites and heightened sense of daring, what else would he have done. It appeared he could indulge as he pleased, much more than ever before, without paying too high a price. The young man had never lacked for self-confidence. That inclination too had been subjected to a recent boost.

The stone in his pocket was a puzzle, but only for a couple trills. The woman who was apparently observing him supplied the answer before he could ask the question. "Lucky?" he shot back with a grin. "Are you sure?" Or was it bad luck instead? Lots of women around this part of the festivities, he noticed. When she explained, well, he hoped he might never need to find out if it did as reported, or not. Surely that would be a move of desperation. But since he and Vega intended to spend much more time on the seas than ever before, well, you just never knew. Nice to have the thing on hand in a pinch, and he thanked the woman for the information.

The blue concoction in the vial though captured his interest. A little suspicious, Arlo thought. She was taking swigs from the stuff and apparently thought he'd turn her down. But what was a servant of Cassion if not curious and daring? Just a sip then, and he did before going off on his way. He'd dropped the gypsy stone back in his pocket, and then oddly enough found a second stone in the other. This time, a red one.

***

He'd just been thinking that it was getting late, and he might just return to the Wanderlust. In fact Arlo had turned on his heel, back in that direction when he heard a woman's scream pierce the night. So much so that it cut through all the noises of revelry. It was bad enough, and he'd stopped to look back in the direction he thought it had come from. Would Cassion just turn away then? Probably not. The Immortal wasn't known for turning a blind eye or deaf ear towards that sort of thing. Doubtless there was trouble, afoot, but Arlo was well armed.

It was when men started grabbing women and children, none of them seeming to want to be grabbed, that Arlo thought of intervening. Who would want to be dragged towards the scene of a terrified scream after all? But there was also a sense of community at the docks, and since the Wanderlust was docked here too, then she was part of it. He wouldn't guess why the men were dragging the others or assume they were being kidnapped. There were simply too many to take on at once. Considering that then, that ship seemed the place to be so he headed there as well,

Things were moving apace over here!
Tio
Tio picked a red stone from the stall that was selling them. Little did he know it, since he had stolen from one of the stalls here, he had incurred a cost. It might well become apparent later, though. Still, at that moment, he had a beautiful woman more or less slathered over him and he got to ask her questions around a very interesting interlude in his life. However, just when things were about to get really interesting, the scream broke the air and Tio moved. In his movement, he saw something very interesting indeed!

The man in question he had seen had grabbed a girl and there were a lot of people. Tio had to work quite hard to keep up, moving around this one, saying excuse me to that one, it was a bit like making his way through a very busy party. Well, actually, it was exactly like that. Either way, he noticed as he made his way that the girl was sort of struggling. Not massively, but in a very sluggish, difficult to spot manner. Like her movements were slow or something. He was just about to get a good shot on the guy when suddenly, out of nowhere, he was tackled from the side and he ended up on the ground!

Do I Stay or Do I Go? - Consequence! ~ information gained and therefore, Time Taken. Information is an individual advantage. Time loss is a group disadvantage.
Arlo
Arlo took the drink and took the slightest sip of it. Just a tiny sip because, really, life was for living and what more did you need as a philosophy?

And the world bent in on itself then expanded back out. It was like being in the middle of a star being born and it was immediate and all encompassing. Later on, the suddenness of it would surely strike him as alchemical in nature - or at the very least magical. Or... something. Because the stars were talking to him, no. No that wasn't right. They were singing to him and their song was beautiful.

It was all he could hear. All he could see and yet, it was over in the blink of an eye.

When he came to, some few minutes later, Arlo would realise that things had moved on apace, that he had been completely out of it for quite some time and had, in fact, been standing and staring, wide eyed, at the night sky. Yet there was no after-effect. Or maybe there was, because Arlo felt alive, alert and full of energy.

Once he'd come around, he could see everything around him clearly and yet Arlo decided to watch and not make judgements, so he followed some of the men and then boarded the ship. As he did, he saw one of the men he'd followed here, who'd been leading a woman in an apparently very rough manner. However, it became apparent why when one of the other men who was also mostly carrying a child boarded. The woman let out a yell of delight, as did the child, and they reunited. The two men, gruff and rough as they were, grinned at each other.
Hit or Miss - Consequence Unlocked! ~ Arlo took the unknown drug. It is the medium for the Time loss applied due to Tio's consequence.

Merces
Round missed I Spy With My Little Eye.... - Secret Achievement Lost! ~ Merces did not make his choice. This has had a negative consequence.
Roland
Roland did his best to fight the man who was trying to rob him and, as he threw the contents of his mug in the face of one of the men, the other one grabbed him. Roland was not, after all, a fighter and these two very much were. Had he been able to do so, firing the crossbow would have been a good idea. However, he didn't get to do it. In the morning, Roland might consider that trying to harm someone who had a knife to his throat was not a good idea, but the heat of adrenaline is such that it makes all more courageous, more likely to make quick decisions. Unfortunately, his lack of skill and their abilities meant that he managed to fling the mug forward before the second man grabbed both of his wrists, pulling his arms uncomfortably behind him. He didn't contact with the first man's face, but he did drench him and, for his efforts, he felt the blade slice against him and blood start to trickle.

However, as the man who held the blade seemed to be just about to carve him up good, there was a sudden scream in the air and the man in front of him frowned. "It's started, come on," he said and grabbed what he could of Roland's stuff. Using his knife, he sliced the coin purse, but couldn't really get more than that. The one holding him first threw Roland to the floor, to slow any pursuit and then they ran. As he got outside, there was no immediate sign of them, but he did spot a blue stone which he picked up. It was pretty and, now he thought of it, seemed like it might be the button of one of the men who'd attacked him. But then he saw them! One of them, at least, had charged straight into another chap!

Roland, however, was sensible and made his way to the ship where he felt he'd be safer.

It's Rude to Eavesdrop! - Secret Achievement Consequence ~ As a result of his response to this Secret Achievement, Roland has a consequence. The man has stolen 142gn from him.
Everyone
Tio and one of Roland's attackers collided, Arlo stood and stared at the stars and Tio engaged in some serious canoodling. Either way, time passed. Then, two of them, Arlo and Roland, found themselves on the deck of the ship. Tio, had unentangled himself from the very apologetic man and then, spotted a familiar figure on the deck. He and Arlo knew each other, after all.

Arlo and Roland were on deck where, alongside the usual day to day things and people, there were two, very well armed and armoured individuals. Makes, both of them, biqaj both and they seemed very ill inclined to letting anyone pass. In fairness, once the crew started to notice the two of them, they did not get a good welcome. "'ere! Gerroff! Shoo!" and other such were shouted. No one threw any punches though - and Roland should not forget the slow-bleeding shallow cut on his neck. Infections could kill!

Tio, meanwhile, had spotted what seemed to be someone in the water! Waving or drowning? Well, he just didn't know!! Roland, if he glanced that way, would recognise him. It was the other man who had attacked him. The buddy of the guy who Tio had just crashed into, to be precise.

The alarm bells ringing in Tio's head grew louder as the man seemed to pointedly ignore him and make a beeline straight for the ship. No matter how he looked at it the girl he'd taken was struggling, but in a strangely subdued maner. Spirits, she hadn't been drugged had she?! Right, that was it! He was going to put an stop to this right now!

Tio reached down inside himself for the spark of defiance within his soul and felt the wind around him swirl a little in anticipation, ready to blow through the crowd at a moments notice as soon as he asked. But before he could, something smashed straight into Tio's side, breaking his focus and sending him crashing to the ground. Some random bloke had ran straight into him! The stranger's apologies fell on deaf ears as Tio scrambled back to his feet and hurriedly looked out across the crowd, desperately trying to catch sight of the kidnapper again! He even ripped the eyepatch off of his face to free up his other eye, hoping it might catch something the other one hadn't!

Regardless of whether or not he caught sight of the kidnapper again two other things caught his eye. First of all was Arlo, standing on the top of the ship and starting up at the sky with a vacant expression. What on Idalos was he doing up there? Whatever the case Tio didn't have time to waste on him right now, he'd just have to hope the guy pulled himself together!

The second thing however was something he couldn't just ignore. In the ocean just in front of the ship somebody was splashing around, looking an awful lot like they were drowning! Damn it all, why did these problems have to crop up all at once? First the scream, then the kidnapper, and now this?! How was he supposed to handle all these things at once?! While he would have liked to continue pursuing the kidnapper, the logical part of his mind argued that the person in the water could be in immediate danger, whilst the girl probably wasn't. As much as he hated it that idiot in the water had made his choice for him!

With a growl of frustration Tio shrugged off his red outer jacket and dived in to the water. His own skill at swimming was nothing special, but it should be enough to drag the moron to shore over such a short distance.

Off Topic
Just to make sure it's clear, I've used the 'eyepatch' resource for a perception boost while scanning the crowd.
Also I couldn't find a way to have Tio get an object in a way that didn't feel awkwardly out of character at the moment, so I'll forgo my bonus this round.

Merces did not elect to take advantage of the vantage point he had been provided. However, what he did rather than sit idly was continue to move. Why had the scream been important to him; especially being that he could perceive no immediate threat? Rather than waste time pondering the pointless, Mercy set out to find the woman who eluded him. Why did she make an escape at the very sight of his presence as opposed to remaining alongside him? Merces might have seen where she went, and been able to gather information had he chosen to observe immediately. Yet, the crowd had still been a lively one, and what had obviously been an ornate dress had been spotted from the corner of his eye.

The dress had been eerily similar to the one worn by the woman who eluded his presence. She would not escape, not this time; Merces began a brisk walk in her general direction. The crowd seemed to be displeased with his choice to collide with them as they crossed paths. The Locket he picked up had been concealed within the confides of his closed fist. He needed to return it to the woman that lost it, and opened it yet again to gather information. Who was the person depicted in the photo, and why would she suddenly leave behind something that appeared to be valuable?

Questions ran rampant in the mind of The Sorcerer, but only one went answered. She wanted to stay away from him, or draw his attention to her. The former choice had been the more logical of the two, but what if she wanted him to go in pursuit of her? What if she wanted to draw him away from the masses, and kill him in silence? Had her intentions been malicious, or innocent enough for him not to be alarmed?

“Hey! You dropped this! It's yours!” Merces yelled and projected his voice through the uneasy crowd. His voice seemed to cause far more alarm than he intended it to. A man dressed in nothing more than a cloak, with a visage hidden beneath a veil of shadow and cloth approached The Sorcerer. He did not bother to speak, but “walked past” Mercy. Several trills later, Merces could have sworn that he heard the echoes of extra foot-steps with every pace he took. However, he could not detect whether or not there had been another presence around him for certain.

“Damn! Where did she fuckin' go? I have her stuff and she seems to have disappeared on me without a trace. I'll just keep the shit for myself if I can't find her..” Merces mumbled aloud as he continued to bob and weave through several people.

There were probably much better times than in the midst of an apparent crisis, to indulge in, probably illicit substances. No matter Arlo's resolve that as a follower of Cassion, he ought to embrace every adventure and opportunity to experiment and explore that came his way. So maybe his timing could use some improvement, but Immortals the effects of the brew were a wonder. No matter that time passed as it always did and marched on just a few trills in the process, it also seemed as if it slowed down and then stopped, in order for him to take in the wonder of it all. A burst of stars shine that blinded and beguiled him in its colorful brilliance.

And in spite of the chaos unfolding around him, Arlo smiled before he was drawn back to reality. He might like to find that woman later, purchase a little more and try it again. Later, and at a more sensible time. In the duration, he'd been jarred at the shoulders numerous times by others rushing aboard ship. For reasons that he still didn't understand. But it was where he went nonetheless. Maybe on second thought, more time had passed than he'd realized. But rather than feel out of sorts and foggy headed as he would have expected, he felt as fine as ever. Better even.

Still, women and children seemed to be getting hauled onto the ship and not necessarily willingly. But Arlo wasn't ready to assume that the men hauling them had only the worst of intentions. And turned out, better that he hadn't assumed. The one he'd boarded behind, well it appeared that she'd only wanted to be reunited with her child. It didn't answer the question though that was first on his mind. And so once mother and child were united, he asked one of the men. "Mind me asking what's going on?"

He spotted a familiar face then, Tio. Though he could only guess that like himself, he'd been curious so had come aboard rather than having been there before. And then there were the two very well armed biqaj and their orders. Presumably to himself and others who were not the crew or otherwise known to them. He'd already asked one man about what was going on. Depending on the answer, he saw no reason to ask the same one again but to others. Still, the reason was important and he'd wait to hear it before deciding whether or not he'd disembark. Not his ship, after all.

At the base of the brightest lighthouse

The fighting, the shot into the man's leg, crawling in the mud, hiding behind crates and finding a glowing stone, all the machinations of a man who fantasized too much about fantastic actions that he was not prepared to pursue. As Roland found himself sprawled out on the ground, fresh blood oozing from his neck, he sighed and shook his head, glad to be alive. Feeling himself, he was relieved to find his weapon still with him. However, he was immediately taken aback to find his coin purse gone. Now this pissed him off.

Groaning a bit as he raised himself off of the ground, his arms sore from their wrenching, he ran out into the concourse, spotting a blue button on the ground. He picked it up, patting the magical Fortune card in his breast pocket. No coincidences. Ever. His mind racing as he scanned the crowd, he saw the men who had just robbed him. Running into the crowd, even with his anger and frustration building, Roland announced many pardons as he pushed his way through the chaos. One of the men ran into another, a man that Roland soon noticed as the champion of the Derby! Quite an active man he was, Roland figured. No less a hero to be out in this chaos trying to help. Roland wouldn't be wearing any crowns. He was no hero. Passing the two, he made way to the ship's deck to get a better survey of the action.

Yet another surprise, Roland saw another Derby competitor among the many who were now scrambling on the deck. It was one of the quitter lovers, Arlo! Was this a Derby reunion? He looked around suddenly to see if he would see the other quitter, Vega. He looked around suddenly to see if she was around as well, but no such luck. However, Fortune did smile upon him as he saw someone thrashing about in the water below. It was one of the robbers! Bastard was going to get his, that was for sure. A tug at his coat hem pulled him from his focus as a small girl pulled at Roland's coat. "Sir, can you help me?" Annoyed with the interruption, Roland was about to turn her away when a dull sting caught him in the neck. Crouching down, he noticed a pink sash tied around the girl's dress. His eyebrows rising in anticipation, he patted the girl on the side as he gingerly removed the sash. She seemed taken aback, smacking at his hands as he took her sash. He looked over at Arlo, pointing in his direction. "That man over there is a hero, go ask him to help you. Run along."

Returning to the side of the ship, Roland wrapped the sash around his neck several times, his nose turning up at his floral scent. He tied it into a little bow, now looking smashing with his bright pink side neck bow. At least it would staunch the bleeding. Back to the business at hand, he groaned as another hero was in the water, trying to save the bastard that assaulted him. Calling down as he loaded a bolt into his crossbow, Roland warned, "Get away from that bastard! He tried to kill me!" Aiming down at the thrashing shape, he fired a bolt, reloading and attempting to fire a second shot before Tio the hero got to him. It would be bad form to shoot the Derby champion.

30th Cylus 718
In a moment, the world changes. Never was it more true than it was, the night of the 10th Cylus in Scalvoris. As time moved inexorably to it.
Tio
It was all happening and the collision with the person had stopped Tio from quite managing to cast his Defiance, but still, he kept focused and in a very real sense. He used every available resource to him and, through luck it might seem to him, he did indeed catch sight of the kidnapper again. He was carrying the girl who was now not struggling at all but rather hanging limply, into an alleyway quite some distance away.

Resource Used! ~ Tio used one of his resources! It gave him extra information.
Arlo
Arlo might well have noticed how strangely time seemed to move for him whilst under the influence, but what he hadn't noticed, but those who knew him might well was simple... it wasn't just perception that the drink he had imbibed impacted....

Hit or Miss - Consequence Unlocked! ~ Arlo took the unknown drug. As well as being the catalyst for Tio's consequence in the last post, it also has a personal consequence. In the time it takes him to walk the short distance to the ship, Arlo ages approximately 3 arcs. When he realises that, he might be very pleased that he didn't drink a lot......
Merces
Merces ducked and weaved through the crowd. He still had the locked in his hands and it might well prove useful to him. As the crowd began to thin out, Merces began to see more things and, although he had not yet found the woman he was looking for, he did get to notice that the crowds were dispersing quite quickly and then, he got to hear something really quite important......

Roland
Roland made sure that he took the time to speak to the little girl, and divest her of her scarf. Then, having made sure that he didn't have to listen to her any more, he used the scarf to tie a pretty pink bow around his throat. It was a bold move and it paid off. Then, however, he made his way to saw what he thought was one of the robbers in the water and Roland decided that Decisive Action Is Good!.....

Don't Need No Infection!! - Secret Achievement Unlocked ~ Roland has discovered an item which will have more than one use. Details at the end of the thread, if you still have it.
On the ship!! (Roland & Arlo)
Arlo, newly matured as he was, stood and asked one of the people on the ship what was going on. The man he asked had been one of the ones who had brought the child back and he looked at Arlo and frowned, seeming to be unsure what to say. But then, what else could he do? "Well, thing is, this place is full of pirates and slavers and all sorts. We think there might be a group and we're trying to sto... HEY!!" The shout was to Roland who was taking a shot into the water. Now, it was Cylus, so it was dark. Roland had a relatively low skill with the crossbow and he was already injured. Yet, by pure luck, he hit! Or, judging by the yell and slow sinking of the guy, he did.

But whilst backs were turned looking at that, other things were happening. Much, much more important things. And they started with some the crash of something breaking. If either of them looked around it was to see one of the crew slit the throat of the one who had spoken to Arlo, warning him of the danger of the slavers and pirates. The crashing noise? That had been a ceramic sphere and as their eyes registered the yellow smoke, their heads started to swim.... ......

In The Water! (Tio!)
It is much, much easier to save someone when there's no one shooting them in the leg. If that isn't a well known saying, then frankly it should be and, when Tio had finished saving the world, Scalvoris and all the pretty girls again he might want to make it into a well known saying. The guy he was saving couldn't swim and Tio really wasn't great at it. Really, after the situation when looking for the Fountain of Eternal Youth, he might have considered developing it a bit.. but nope. The chap in question clung on to him, screaming, crying and begging him not to let him die... which might just turn out to be the most fortunate thing of all ......
cont'd
On the docks!! (Merces)
Merces noticed that the number of people were thinning out and then he noticed that, actually, it wasn't just the number of people - it was the number of women. Then, as he realised that two things happened simultaneously - he heard a distinctly female voice yell the words, "ARLO! IT'S AN ATTACK!" and he realised that someone above him had dropped a pewter sphere which had smashed into pieces directly in front of him. As he inevitably breathed in the stuff, the sorcerer's head began to swim and he felt another body falling into him.

And things, very quickly (far, far too quickly, he might notice) descended into darkness ......
cont'd

Everyone
It was chaos. Whatever witchcraft was in those spheres it was fast acting and vicious. Roland, Arlo & Merces each lost consciousness and not one of them knew how long for. Tio, meanwhile, was in the water and there, he was safe. He saw the strange yellow fog swirling around. It was there and it was gone quite quickly and in its wake it left behind a lot of unconscious people. But not all! No, Tio also got to see some of the people on the ship with Roland and Arlo and on the dockside who seemed to be immune to it. They also seemed to know each other and they stopped only to either slit some apparently random throats or to scoop up the few women who were still there. He saw the alleyway they went down, too, so that was helpful! Oh, and he had a choice. He could drown with the guy, or he could let him fend for himself. There was a lot of blood around him, so it might just be a matter of time... up to him.

As the others woke up, Arlo realised that he had fallen over a young girl - the one whose sash Roland was wearing over his throat. As they all woke, their heads were thumping and they had the taste of honey in their mouths. However, the girl woke just before them and was shaking Arlo a little. "Mister! Mister, they've taken all the women again. Please help, we only just escaped, thanks to these people." It seemed that the crew were, in fact, trying to stop some kind of something happening and maybe they had some information.

Other than the fact that most of them had been killed. The little girl covered her eyes as she saw the death and then she whispered to Arlo. "You have to save them. They'll take them and do bad things." She pointed in a very general direction, but it was over... there.

On the dockside, Merces knew roughly the direction that the shouted warning came from. Tio, of course, had seen the alleyway where the women were bundled up and taken.

But Tio was in the water, still. Merces, Arlo and Roland were all feeling very, very sluggish.

At the base of the brightest lighthouse

As Arlo boarded the ship along with a number of others, he began to feel as if something was...Well, what was it? He couldn't quite say for sure. It just felt as if something was off. But then of course it was. He'd just come to from the effects of whatever it was the woman had handed him to drink, and he'd been caught up in something afoot on the docks and on board the ship. Only natural that things would feel out of sorts. He'd also begun to genuinely wonder where Vega was. Was she back on board the Wanderlust, wondering where he was? Was she on the boardwalk? Or had she been caught up in it all like him and was somewhere nearby? Arlo would prefer to think that she'd gone off to see her father, so was safe and sound.

Still, he'd asked what was going on and had gotten an answer. Slavers and pirates? It didn't come as any surprise that there'd be pirates somewhere in and around Scalvoris. But it was proximity, that was the question. "You mean now? Where?" he asked, already reaching past the edge of his coat to take hold of his crossbow, just in case. But he turned too in response to the shouting, and saw a man he didn't know firing into the water. Was the man a pirate, or a crew member or was he one of the celebrants from the boardwalk?

He didn't have much time to wonder. At the sound of a crash, he spun back round on his heel just in time to see a man's throat cut. The one he'd been speaking to just trills ago. And in response Arlo drew his bow, released the safety and took aim, in case the assailant got any funny ideas about him being next. He'd have fired off a killing bolt too, if his vision hadn't blurred and his head gotten foggy before he dropped to the deck like a stone.

When he came to again, Arlo couldn't say how long he'd been out. But after blinking away the confusion, there were details that came rushing back in like a wave. He remembered it all. And though he'd been half way to going unconscious, he recalled with clarity the cry that he'd heard. A woman. she'd called him by name and called out a warning. An attack. "Vega?" he mumbled, already pushing himself to his knees. It could only have been her. Quickly enough he realized that he'd fallen half on top of a child and pulled himself quickly to his feet.

"You were taken before?" he asked the kid, trying to sort out exactly what was happening. "And you escaped? From where? Where did they take you, do you remember?" What really concerned him, more than anything now even as he wondered over the strange taste in his mouth, was Vega. He knew it was her voice he'd heard before. And now that he took a better look around, there were many fewer women and children than there'd been before.

Still, now the ship seemed to be the safest place to be. If the pirates and slavers had been aboard, it appeared they'd already gotten what they'd come for and left. Except for the girl that he must have concealed with his body when he collapsed, he couldn't spot another on the deck. The only other person he knew on sight was Tio. He'd spied him once before in the middle of the festivities, and now saw him again in the water...Immortal's only knew why. But off the ship seemed like the place to be. So he told the girl to stay put where she was safe, and got off the boat, aiming for solid ground again.

Hopefully the girl would have told him where she'd been taken before. But if not, he'd have to rely on what others might know. Either way, Arlo kept his crossbow in hand and a mostly singular goal in mind. To find Vega.

Trying to save the drowning man was difficult enough considering that, for a pirate, Tio wasn't an especially great swimmer, but to make things even worse before he could reach him someone back at the dock shouted something, and a moment later a crossbow bolt whizzed over his head and struck the man in the leg. Shocked by the unexpected turn of events, Tio looked back to the shore to see a man man in a suit with a... wait, was that a frilly pink necktie?... standing there glaring daggers at the drowning man.

"What the-... WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?! WHY WOULD YOU SHOOT A DROWNING PERSON?!" Tio shouted in exasperation as the poor mugger, now crying and bleeding heavily as well as drowning, grasped on to him and started begging him not to leave him to die. Spirits how did things come to this?

Before he could start shouting profanities at Roland however a strange, sickly yellow mist washed across the shore, and all at once the gathered crowd began to crumple to their knees like puppets whose strings had been cut. Wow... who would have thought that being in the water would actually turn out to be a lucky break? If he'd been on shore he might have fallen unconscious as well, and his throat could well have been cut by the few people amongst the crowd who seemed immune to the fog, who were now scooping up the last remaining women in the crowd to take away with them down that same alley the little girl from earlier had been taken down. So this wasn't a single case of child abduction then, but a mass-kidnapping by what was probably a group of slavers? Had they set this whole party up as a trap?

Keeping ahold of the drowning man, Tio trod water for a while to try and keep them both afloat, and whispered for him to shut up and stop thrashing about. If the guys on shore spotted them they'd probably try and kill them as well, and even if he could reach the shore before being shot full of holes Tio didn't think he could fight so many of them at once. There was not much he could do, so patiently he watched as the slavers took their captives and disappeared down the alley, and waited for the yellow fog to clear.

When at last the slavers had gone and the air returned to normal Tio saw his opportunity to act! He dug down into his soul again, calling on the spark of defiance within, and begged the water around him to take him and the mugger back to the shore; and in answer to his plea the water formed into a wave around them, sweeping them back over to the dock and causing them to crash right into the wooden structure with a painful thunk.

"Oww... I don't get paid enough for this." Tio muttered to himself as he grabbed on to the side of the dock. He climbed up by himself first, and then turned back to the injured guy and took hold of his arm. "Alrighty then, let's get you out of there. One. Two. Three!..."

With as much strength as he could muster (which honestly wasn't a lot, sadly) he tried to pull the mugger out of the water. Whether he succeeded or not was really down to how much strength the mugger had left in him, or if any of the other men around woke up in time and decided to help him. Hopefully there would be somebody around with a medical kit who knew how to use it as well, because when it came to healing crossbow wounds Tio didn't have the first clue what he was doing.

30th Cylus 718
Midnight had come and gone in the yellow, toxic mist - and in that moment a new trial had dawned. Would it be one where they solved the mystery in front of them? Or would the disappearance of so many women go unanswered?

As they moved, that fateful night, any of them who paid attention saw and heard what was more and more obvious every trill. There were less women there. Children, maybe but many of those had hidden, but as people began to stand back up, there were the sounds of crying from younger ones who had been holding the hands of their mother but now she simply was not there. Cries of "Mama!?" and "Maaa?" were heard as confusion began to take hold.

Men who had been standing next to their wives or sisters, daughters or friend - whoever they were, the men called their name, so as people stood, groggily, the sound of men calling women's names mingled with the crying of children.

And yet, it was obvious.

The women were gone.
Tio
Tio was discovering that there are some very odd people in the world. Those who would shoot at a drowning man, drowning men who would cling to their rescuer to the point that he nearly pulled Tio with him. However, there in the freezing Scalvoris waters in the middle of winter, Tio gained two things. A quite significant case of frostbite, and some very important information.

He saw it happen. Through yellow mist and with the drowning man clinging to him, he saw it. He recognised the alleyway and he saw them take the women. They weren't discriminating in any way - any and every person taken was female, but they didn't seem to be judging on appearance or any other obvious physical factor.

So, Tio asked the water around him, very politely, if it would help and it giggled in his ear as he whooshed on a wave to the shore. There, he managed to pull the man up and there was, indeed someone around with more medical knowledge than Tio.

Arlo
Arlo slid to the ground and then, woke again. The child who woke with him looked at him with fear in her eyes. "We were on a ship, sir, these people they saved us." She pointed at where the man Arlo had just been speaking to lay, bleeding out and her lack of shock at that sight might well be indicative of her words being true. She spoke with the kind of casual acceptance of horror which many who have been through such might. "They took us. Women, from all over, said that we were gonna serve them. That man was part of the group who saved us, but I knew they'd come back for us." She didn't know more than 'over there', but she went where Arlo told her to go.

On the docks!! (Tio & Arlo)
It was difficult for Tio to get to the alleyway - for two reasons. He was absolutely freezing, soaking wet and teeth chattering. Arlo, too, had some difficulties, but he had an excellent skill in hunting and he saw there in the ground where the footsteps had all headed. He could find his way, between that and the mumblings of people waking up.

They both heard those, of course - the mumblings and grumblings. The calling of names and crying of children. And, they both arrived at the alleyway where the women had been taken. Tio had seen it, Arlo could see it in the footsteps, running here in this way and laden down.

Everyone
While the others fought against the crowd or recovered from their bout of being drugged by yellow mist, for whatever reason, Arlo and Tio moved faster. As they met at the entrance to the alleyway (one soaking wet and the other older than he had been a break before), they saw that in that entrance were three members of the Elements. The military of Scalvoris, standing and watching, eyes focused and brows furrowed. We've got it under control here, move along." One of them said. They wore the Elements uniform but they, too, were wrapped up against the cold. Three of them, well armed and armoured, weapons of good quality and with an air of danger about them.

They wouldn't let the men pass, no matter what and if they pushed it then they would be clear that they would arrest them, or fight them if they had to. Both Tio and Arlo could see into the alleyway which seemed to have been very busy just recently, as well as they could make out. The three guards wore matching expressions of not interested in anything they had to say.

Matching cloaks, pins which denoted them as who they were. Thick, winter clothing. Two in front, one standing behind the two, smaller in stature, leaning against a wall and apparently focusing on picking his nails with a throwing knife. He was better wrapped up than the rest and it was harder to see his face. Underneath his thick hood he wore his newly acquired, recently found, grizzly-bee skin hat. The kind with ear flaps which tied beneath his chin.
In Your Next Post:
Please feel free to interact - if you would. Please also feel free to describe your "discussions" with NPCs on the way to where you are and, Arlo and Tio can describe discussions with the Elements.
The general NPCs are all male, confused and disoriented. They don't have any specific information, but one or two of them will swear that they saw a member of the Elements nearby just before they passed out.

The Elements in the alleyway - will not budge - if you're going past there then you are getting in to combat. Not to suggest you should or shouldn't, but just to be clear. Must Do Objectives:
1. ~Ensure that you are clear if you choose to "use" your resources, how you will.
2 ~ Be aware that your actions in your next (and every post hereafter) post can gain or lose you resources.
3 ~ Most importantly, remember that what you do will impact the story.
