A gentle stroke of her fingers slid through midnight black hair before she got started behind the counter.
She felt great today, meat, paper, string, tie the knot and here you go. She was waiting for someone particulary special today.
The smell of death loomed in the air, a fresh carcass hung in the back as the butcher carved it out quartering it into roasts ribs steaks there was always a sense of delight when the hunters brought there wares through. No place for a young lady though even if shed spy in giddy anticipation through the crack in the door, but she could dream as her finger swirled around the glass counter top.
One day shed carve those morsels so nicely, shed be his prized meat cutter and she could have the best few years of her life before disappearing again. But alas she was treated as if far to delicate for such tasks
Such pursuits shed been told might tarnish her dainty lady like image. So shed be a pretty face that handed out the packages, at least she hoped she was acceptable for public viewing as animal juices smeared on her drab smock.
Almund was the place she was at currently dwelling and it had a positively dark atmosphere with murder most foul and she was at peace with this almost comforted like a blanket.
Paper, meat, twine, package and tie the knot here you go.
She suddenly had a taste for blood pudding, it had just had the right flavor that titilated her tastebuds as she suckled the raw droplet on her finger. Creatures were for eating after all, some more palatable than others but if you asked her they all had there place. But there was an appreciation for the appropriation of meat stripped off the bones of critters that was slapped over open flame and plopped on her plate.
Her amber eyes fell upon the meat cleaver giving it a sultry look as fingers danced against the shiny flat surface ready to pluck it off the hanger. Shed hack those chops real good and make it count, hacking and parting that shit like she meant it, or the filet blade that glimmered shamelessly as the apple of her eye gutting and beheading those fishy wishys for flaying filets from the ribbins but wasting perfectly good fish heads didnt seem right perhaps the cats that hung around might like a snack. There was the tenderizer it was massive, thick and powerful it wasnt so much a mallat as much as it was a glob of steel and it might have been the most damn beautiful thing shed ever laid eyes upon. Hammering meat into submission for making succulent melt in your mouth morsels or going stir crazy and flattening it out with brutality it made her heart flutter. No the duet, the chefs blade and honer they were a cute little pair. She stealthily snuck them off and began with deliberate strokes as the honer zipped with zings and zangs the music of her soul as she played the instrument as if it spoke to her, she remembered the noise of a whetstone honing an edge on her sword and this though a little different struck the same chords to her mortal born coil.
"Urghhhh yous better not be touchin dat dare cut-alery. Eyes told you princess, its mans work" he chortled.
"Id never dream of such things, i was only preparing it for your work your lordship." Lavana curtseyed and bowed as she bent at the knee to to offer him his blade as she mocked him playfully, he waddled over and commandeered it as he eyed its edge giving it his esteemed evaluation. He muttered about it being mans work and began booming away at those chops.
"Here you go lass" now package it and send him on his way.
Meat plopped on her station, she really felt she almost was going to have her way today shed been this close. The spirits favored her but shed let them down so long ago, and now they teased and prodded her in the cruelest of ways truly for seventy years the spirits of her domains had made her life a living purgatory of meat paper and lets not forget string.
If only she hadnt been so civil, polite society ground her gears she yearned for brutality to be a wild savage. That cleaver in her bosses face, to hang him on hooks bleed him, spill his innards and flay his corpse and sell his bits indiscriminately to the masses as minced meat pie and hamburger her eyes narrowed on his form with malevolent glee like a predator ready to pounce how funny it would be to wear his fa..... no deep breath, exhale task at hand.
Meat, wrapper, fold, string for tieing a knot and voila gently hand it over and a quick wave good bye to the customer.
Using the meat grinder was also strictly forbidden, not since the incident. But they dont talk about the incident, aparantly frankfurts and sausages are ok but only when pork is involved.
She went about her duty diligently moping blood and carcass juice off the floor, sweeping up the bits unfit for people and hooking up a few stray animals in particular a good looking beast she gave him the prime cuts and like clock work hed arrived this the special guest shed been waiting for as she stepped outside.
He was a formidable animal, she enjoyed the ruthlessness of his presence and company amongst the critters in Almund he was high on her list of noteworthy things to talk about. Lavana once seen this very dog tear open another canine in a battle for supremacy he won the day and her heart with untamed tenacity and ferocity his fangs drew blood as he shook and shredded meat and fur off the bone dealing a mortal wound as his adversary hobbled off to a death knell which was last seasons big thing for her.
And to the victor goes the spoils of war it was only the natural thing for her to do, and hed captured her attention with such captivating displays of prowess. He might of been a disheveled mess unworthy of recognition in civil society but something about that raw primordial instinct gave him a special place in her imagination and so he got special treatment.
To the victor goes the spoils it was only the natural thing for her to do from that point on. She didnt know if she enjoyed canines for there savagery and brutal maws that feverishly stripped flesh as they ate there victims alive but there was something charming about the whole thing just a primal thing that seemed to scratch an itch that had a way of bothering her.
Listen you want this?
I want behaviour, I said sit down!
The dog growled and lashed out at her and she took a very evasive step back giving her distance as he lunged, quick reflexes caused her to step off to the side to reel her hand back as his jaws clasped air but as she exhaled her body loosened up and relaxed and quickly burst out in retaliation as her hand rotated and squeezed tightly as a jab to the nose it was lightning fast the secret was its direct linear path it lacked stopping power as an arm punch using hand eye coordination to bop him on the button real good as he whipped his muzzle into it turning an impact into a collision. The beast let loose a howling yelp and Lavana retorted with a sinister little giddy smile evidently thrilled with herself.
"I said, SIT MR!
Or youll be the snack for those alley cats!"
The dog complied this time in belief as Lavana cowed him into submission through threats of force she was the Alpha, and she felt a sense of accomplishment like she conquered the shit out of him he looked at her snorted and grumbled in discontent wriggling his nose. Hed be handsomely rewarded for his loyal obedience, and that untamed nature she did so treasure.
She gave him his scrap meat treats and he ate them nicely as she asserted herself as the alpha. Lavana Tharn did miss her wolf, and maybe just maybe hed fill that spot but he had to prove his worth first. Nothing was worse then a lazy do nothing animal, she wanted a reliable companion something she could have on the ready and he had to be fierce. A dog that wouldnt defend her was a waste, he seemed like the kind of mut that would happily oblige such a request but the trick was to.harness his feral temperament . After all a girl could never be to careful out in Almund, the place came off as particulary seedy.
"See we can be friends."
Lavana pet the dog on the head, and smiled at him warmly as he panted at her.
"Stay"
Lavana walked back inside, and continued carrying on with her chores. It was monotonous and slow going but she managed to round up a few extra, good looking tid bits.
"Aye yous can get moving, good work today. See you in the morning" the butcher said in a rather polite tone as he began cleaning his cutlery.
Lavana obliged and headed out the door with some cuts of discarded fat. The dog didnt mind as she got him to follow her for a while and even though she didn't keep him she was nevertheless entertained.
