Kesindir wrote: Sun Jan 20, 2019 1:17 pm Since most things 2 or more tiers above you are inaccessible, you can use some of the quality modifiers to buy above that limit. Let's say you are Tier 4. You only have leather armour, studded leather armour, and shields available to you since there are no tier 5 armours. Let's say you wanted some chainmail armour. If you take them as poor quality (-1 to the listed wealth tier) they then become Tier 5, which you can afford, at 2wp. Weapons work the same way. Tier 4 PC has access to quite a few weapons, but not some of the more fancy metals, like Adamantite for example. Let's see if we can't get this PC something...better than say, the little dagger he walked out of the dungeons with, yeah? Longsword is tier 6. If we take a poor quality one, it's now tier 5 and costs us 2 wps. Let's add in a different metal so it isn't a standard iron longsword. How about an Embersteel one? That's tier 5 as well, so another 2wps. So for a Poor Embersteel Longsword, our Tier 4 PC would have to pay 4wps in total. Not bad, considering.
What about packages which include "take a tier X weapon/armor"?

Do you
1) treat X as your tier in creating that weapon, in which case you could combine a tier X weapon with a tier X metal

2) treat X as the tier for the base weapon + modifiers only, and only use metals your normal wealth tier can afford

3) treat X as the tier for the base weapon + modifiers, but different metals also count as modifiers.

For example, lets say at wealth tier 4 you want to get a masterwork embersteel longsword as your "tier 8 or lower weapon"

1) Masterwork Longsword is tier 8, embersteel is tier 5, both components are tier 8 or below, so you can get your sickass sword

2) Masterwork Longsword is achievable, but embersteel is one above your wealth tier, so you'd have to spend 2 wealth points to get the sword

3) Longsword (6) plus Masterwork (2) plus embersteel (5-4=1) equals a tier 9 weapon, so that's out of your range.

Second question: In the event of something like scenario 3, could you pay 2 wealth points to get something a tier higher? It's only one tier off 8, but it's way out of reach of the normal wealth tier of 4.
So you treat it as #2. Your X tier weapon is a combination of the weapon, and quality modifiers. The metals are available at your tier, or one higher for 2 wealth points. During character creation you are allowed to spend WPs to buy things, but do note since you start with the minimum amount of wealth points for that Tier, purchasing (even if it is just one ingot) will drop you a tier.

Metals work in such a way so that what Tier you are, those metals of that same tier or below are readily available. One Tier higher is available for 2WPs, but anything higher than that is inaccessible.

As for your second question, I think the above answers it as best as it can. Masterwork Longsword is Tier 8. You can grab that with the deserter pack, then pay 2WPs for the embersteel. It's still a Tier 8 weapon, it just looks hella fancy.

3.) What tiers have access to non-essential / non-meal edibles, and how might PCs buy them? For example, if Hart wanted candy, would he need to buy that as a "meal / dish" or would that be under some other category?
Oh, that's interesting. I guess I figured that the PC would know what sort of access to food they have - at average / Tier 5, you've got enough to buy some candy now and then. At Tier 1, not so much. Make sense?
I think it might be a good idea to give examples, as has been done for clothes, so that everyone is on the same page. Perhaps something like this:

Poor
Edibles at this level are plain, unprocessed, and long lasting (eg. grains, beans, root vegetables). No seasoning unless gathered from the wild. No sweet treats available.
Basic
Edibles at this level are simple, with low effort processing (eg. flour, milk, eggs, leafy vegetables, seasonal fruit and nuts). Minimal seasoning. Sweet treats are limited to fruit, or honey gathered from the wild
Average
Edibles at this level are ordinary, with some processing and variety (eg. bread, butter, cheese, fish, salted meat, all kinds of fruit and veg). Some seasoning. Sweet treats of honey and simple candy available.
Good
Edibles at this level are excellent, with plenty of variety (eg. fresh meat, sugar, imported spices, pressed oils, preserves). Well seasoned. Sweet treats widely available.
Luxury
Edibles at this level are the finest quality, with both variety and decoration (eg. rare meats, imported luxuries, complex dishes, fancy cakes). Seasoning of all kinds widely available. Sweet treats commonplace.

Note: these are the levels at which these things can be easily bought from the market. Lower tier ingredients may be processed into higher tier foods as long as it is done in thread (eg. flour into bread)

I'm going to let Pegasus weigh in on this, because as of yet I've only been editing to make things clearer, not to change content.

Re: New Price List Feedback

Okay so I was just editing the section on the Shoppe Wiki entitled Overview and General Rules.

For PC Businesses, it said
If you are buying from a PC Run Business then you, as a player, may purchase items one Wealth Tier above your usual for no cost. This is to encourage PC businesses.
And I changed it to
If you are buying from a PC Business, then you, as a customer, may purchase items from that Business as if you were one Wealth Tier higher in the Tier System. This is to encourage players to make purchases from PC businesses.
My question is, that I realized there's a bit of a difference there and I don't know how to explain it properly.

For what was written before, I think it needed more defining. To me, it meant that a player could go to a business and purchase items indiscriminately at one tier higher than theirs. It meant that they could purchase these items without restrictions on numbers. And because it was at no cost, that meant that players could basically get unlimited items at PC businesses (without spending any wp).

What I think it was supposed to mean was that if it cost 1wp to get items at the next tier up at the Shoppe, then that 1wp would be 0wp at a PC business. But the tiers after that (so two tiers up, and three, etc) would still cost the same as at the Shoppe. It probably also meant for there to be restrictions on how many items a PC could buy.

I changed it in an effort to add some definition. However, changing it to "as if you were one Wealth Tier higher" adds more benefits, so I just wanted to check in and see if that was okay.

So, "as if you were one Wealth Tier higher" was meant to put limits on how many items could be bought without using wp. If a PC is Tier 1, that means they could utilize a PC business at Tier 2. It would mean that they would have access to x Tier 2 items at that business for 0wp, the same way a tier 2 PC would have access to x Tier 2 items at the Shoppe. However, this also means that the Tier 1 PC would get discounts from higher tiers. So, usually at the Shoppe it would cost them, let's say, 1wp to buy items at Tier 2, and 3wp to buy items at Tier 3. At a PC business, however, it would mean that they would get access to items at Tier 3 for 1wp (the same rate that a Tier 2 PC would get for Tier 3 items at the Shoppe).

It's... extrememly complicated for me to try to explain (yikes!), but do you see what I mean? Would you prefer I changed it back, or kept it how it is? And either way, someone (probably me!) is going to have to add a couple rules when it comes to PCs using PC businesses, and how that works with the Shoppe and the Tier System.

Ok so how about
If you are buying from a PC Business, then you, as a customer, may purchase items on sale at that Business (as identified in the Business write up) as if you were one Wealth Tier higher in the Tier System. This is to encourage players to make purchases from PC businesses. Any purchases beyond one tier above are made at your usual Tier cost.
Does that deal with it? Or am I missing something? Sorry if so!

That seems about right, thanks. I don't know why but I was having trouble figuring out how to phrase it. But that does it nicely! I'll add it in.

Re: New Price List Feedback q's

Okay, for the shoppe I was wondering how it works if someone wants to buy extra items at their tier level? I see that they're able to buy things above their Tier, but what about at their Tier or below?
