It had seemed Wald knew more about Spirits than Enrick gave him credit for earlier, as he stated Spirits don't outright die but fall into a state of rest. That meant the crystalline object Rabu now possessed, had to be his friend had to be the Spirit of Bubbles in it's dormant state. It made sense in a way and truthfully, Enrick wondered if the same applied to his familiar. But now wasn't the time to dwell on that for Enrick, the information alone served purpose in reassuring their companion. Maybe now Rabu felt a little better and wouldn't weep as much, since they still had to focus on getting out of here.
Which seemed to be where Wald started to put thought to creativity, as he soon began to ask Enrick about his ship after some consideration.
"Aye," He nodded firmly,
"sailin's in m' blood. Fishin's the only ting dat's helped earn me a livin'." But what Wald wanted wasn't fish, instead just the application of it to haul some skeletal remains out of the belly acid. The idea seemed farfetched already since Enrick didn't have much of his actual gear, and what tools he
did have left on the ship were for actual marine creatures... not bones. Though... if done correctly then he could use a fishing net to haul one in, granted the acid didn't eat away at the net before he accomplished such a feet.
"Worth a try, but dat net's not gonna last fer long." He remarked as he looked over the starboard rail, his first choice of a spot to land safe and easy.
"Soak the net in tar, it'll break down slower that way." Wald instructed in turn as Enrick moved to grab the net that rested on the deck. It was all so strange for Enrick honestly, here was now in the belly of some great beast trying to find a way out. If anything his journey had been nothing short of outstanding and it'd only just started, after surviving a maelstrom and being swallowed by this large sea creature; the sailor wasn't sure if his story would be anymore believable if he ever returned to Desnind.
With the net hanging over his other shoulder Enrick moved back towards the starboard, already with the idea on where exactly he'd find tar for the net.
"Hold on tight lil' guy." He told Rabu in case he still rode on Enrick's right shoulder, just before he vaulted over the rail and down onto the mound of flesh below. When he felt the squishy wet muscle beneath the soles of his boots tremble from the impact, Enrick couldn't help but groan in disgust as he tried to keep his footing. It almost felt slippery to walk on and now that he stood even closer, the pungent smell of the acid nearly sickened him to his stomach. Quickly he turned to face the starboard where the black spot had grown, where a couple of the planks seemed able to be pulled off with enough force.
Enrick had to be careful where he put the net down before trying, and when he looked back to Rabu again to make sure the Tunawa knew; he then proceeded to grip the gap in the planks with both hands. Already he felt the black tar from those eels cover his fingers when he reached inside, and once he started to pull his arms away from his chest; both planks started to groan and creak before a snap finally occurred. The little black slimy eels he never really got to see the first time all slipped out then, and within their little den was an alcove full of black tar inside the wood. Enrick quickly leaned down to pick back up the net, and bundle it together in a ball so that he could fit it inside. He then rotated it several times so that he could soak every inch possible, until the net appeared fully black and covered with the substance.
Next came the hard part...
When he looked for the pile of nearest bones he could try and harvest, the closet one seemed to be another mound away. While his eyes were a mix between copper and turquoise, Enrick moved to the edge of his island to step over the shallow pool of acid. The big guy about slipped in the process due to the extra amount of caution, but needless to say he made relatively safe transition over with both net and Rabu intact.
"Okay..." He murmured to himself with a sigh, as he looked at the rib cage of whatever the hell had died nearby. The remains were several feet away so he couldn't just outright drop the net and expect to haul, therefore he needed to give it a good throw if he expected to actually catch it. Enrick gripped the corner of the net where the rope fed him some line, and with a gyration of his wrist he started to rotate the net into a spin for momentum.
After about eight to ten turns he then threw the net out as high as he could, allowing gravity to take its effect as the net plummeted forward into the acid. The net managed to tangle but well enough, caught a portion of the rib cage in it's landing into the acid. Enrick exhaled another sigh as he almost couldn't believe his shitty luck, the net then reeled in with his hands as he pulled in the line to bring it back in. Come the moment where the remains snagged they too started to budge, but only a little as they seemed far too heavy to drag with the net.
"C'mon y' lil' fekker!" He swore through his teeth as he scowled and grunted, with a bit more force put into pulling the remains as he tried to keep his feet from slipping about.
Sure enough a reaction occurred.
The remains seemed to snap as the net suddenly jerked loose, and Enrick feared that might not have hauled anything at all. Thankfully when he finished hauling in the net, a couple of tips from the rib cage still remained caught inside. The fisherman grabbed a portion of the net to try and free them, until he felt the surface of his palms suddenly burn from the action. He didn't realize it but some of the net had already started to dissolve, and after he quickly wiped his hands across his pants; he then resorted to using his boots to kick it the rest of the way. After a bit or two of letting it sit he finally proceeded to reach once more, and work the bones through the holes of the net. With them held firm enough to remain secure in his hands, Enrick ignored the faint residual burning and hurried back towards the ship.
When he reached the starboard side, he hollered up to Wald with bones held up for display.
"Oy! Dis'll 'ave t' work!" He remarked as he offered to toss them up, in which he waited on Wald to agree before he finally underhanded them up towards the man.
