Flora: Lysorian Lotus
Image
Development credit goes to Inali

Frequency: The Lysorian Lotus can be found around the edges of Lake Rea, the shallow portions of the Anari River, and the smaller inland lakes of Western Idalos. The vibrant pink lotus flowers are in full bloom through Ymiden and Saun. During the middle of Vhalar, the petals of the flower begin to fall into the lakes and the leaves begin to wither and perish. After the first few days of Zi’da, only the fibrous roots and hardy seeds of the plant remain, both of which are hidden well below the surface of the water. New leaves and flower bulbs appear in the final days of Ashan and fully grown flowers can be harvested starting anywhere from 25 – 35 trials into the season of Ymiden.

Toxicity/Hazard: While the plant is non-toxic, precautions must be taken when harvesting the lotus flowers. The elongated stem and roots of the Lysorian Lotus intertwine beneath the surface of the water, creating a maze of tendrils that can make harvesting the flowers a feat of endurance. Strong swimming and wading skills are encouraged. Lysorian citizens that collect the plant also advocate the use of a long staff that can be worked into the muddy bottom of the lake for an additional location to balance and regain energy. Collected stems can be attached to the pole without fear of damaging the delicate flower petals that trail behind them.

Appearance: A fully grown Lysorian Lotus will be surrounded by large water-repellant leaves that lay atop the surface of the lake or river. The flower is most notable for its striking yellow center and rosy pink petals. The petals extend outward from the pollen filled center in the shape of a basket. Lysorian lotus’ are found in large patches of thirty or more lotus plants until there is no more room for new root systems to take hold.

Properties: The leaves of the Lysorian lotus are edible, though few have found any method of cooking that tenderizes the fibrous material into something the denizens of Western Idalos prefer. The lotus can also be eaten, though most are saved for decorative arrangements or flower pressing. The brightly hued tips of the flower have been rumored to have properties similar to that of potent aphrodisiacs, but the process needed to refine the petals (if one exists) has been lost to time.

Other Information:
The Lysorian Lotus is the subject of many folktales, and the flowers are often used to decorate lakeside weddings of affluent couples. The flower is believed to promote a sense of open communication within the couple, provided it is harvested the afternoon of the wedding. More rarely, the lotus can be found in temple bouquets dedicated to deities in towns where lotus harvesting is a profitable endeavor. A silhouette of the lotus is often featured in wax seals – a subtle reminder to be honest and open in all written communication.

Flora: Tus Tree
Image
Development credit goes to Finn

Frequency: Commonly found anywhere around Ne’haer

Toxicity/Hazard: Equal to none unless someone is sensitive to scents

Appearance: About 2 metres tall, with the crown formed from thin, prickly needles. It’s bark is light, dusty brown that gradually changes to vibrant reds as the trunk turns to branches. The shape in the depiction is its natural growth shape.

Properties: Tus tree is mostly known for its aromatic scent that is mostly noticeable during the hot trials of Saun. It is said that the tree ‘sweats’ and that’s why it produces the pleasant odour. In fact, the strength of the odour is dependent on the outside heat. For example, if the outside temperature is cold as it would be in Vhalar, there is only a faint scent lingering around. When temperatures start rising in Ymiden, that’s when the scent grows stronger until its peak in Saun. Due to that reason, a combination of its thinnest branches and needles can be used to create incense, or if one doesn’t want to spend the money or go through the process of creating one, burning the wood will produce the smell as well, although on a much weaker scale.

Other Information: Tus incense can often be bought at the Eastern Temple.

Fauna: Feathered Ausha
Image
Development credit goes to Amaris

A winged creature that lingers somewhere in the Western Reaches of Ne'haer's region, more so closer to Millstone than anywhere else. These are considerably wonderful pets among the nobles there, and excellent mounts for any Tunawa that desire to own one. Somewhere else in Idalos they're actually known as another name, far simpler and more common there than in this part of the world.

Frequency: The Western Reaches - Uncommon
Millstone - Uncommon

Price: 90 gn (Only in Millstone)

Habitat: The Wispy Woods

Lifespan and Development: Feathered Ausha are, plainly speaking, flying bunnies. They appear to be no different from other rabbits, other than the fact that their ears also function as wings. Feathers line the outer ear, large and strong enough to carry the creatures, which tend to be no more than five pounds, into the air. Several more feathers line their legs to aid in flight. They tend to be brightly colored, making them quite easy to spot.

Their development for most of their bodies follows the same patterns as regular rabbits. They are capable of flight around 100 trials, though they will prefer land until they 250 to 300 trials old. At this point, they may easily leave the mating pair they were born to. Some Flunny have been known to migrate back to their parents every two arcs, or at least once in the 7 arcs they are known to live.

Diet: Plants and some insects

Temperament: Playful, finicky. Good luck catching one without enjoying yourself.

Abilities: Flight

Fauna: Kejradin
Image
Development credit goes to Alistair

The Kejradin, pronounced Kaer-ah-deen, is an apex predator and domesticated mount found within the unmarked lands west of Lysoria. Kaernhad represents the only place in the world to carry a significant population of Kejradin, known as the Kaern Wyvern to those far from the region.

The Kejradin is a domesticated beast known for its incredible sense of smell, mobility, and a unique biological trait that allows them to grow horns, splinters and spikes across its body, flinging these at foes with deadly precision. The creature can indeed fly, and is the chosen mount of the Aelothari Horde due to its general excellence and flexibility in combat. Physically, the Kejradin is considered an exceptionally powerful companion, with thick muscles, high agility and fair strength. Notably, the Kejradin are very familial, and tend to form incredibly large families, often treating their human companions and masters as members of their flock

Frequency: Only found in Kaernhad

Price: 1,500 GN, or 2,500 Trained,

Habitat: Kaernhad Mountains and Alpines

Lifespan and Development: The Kejradin wyvern are born via egg and kept high in the alpine mountains. After hatching, they require two to three years of life before reaching their maturing years and learning how to fly. After about four to five years of age, they are considered adults in their prime, and remain as such until their twenty fifth year. Remaining venerable from this point on, most Kejradin pass away at the age of thirty to thirty five.

They weigh, on average, about 1,800 lbs (or 816 kg). Male Kejradin tend to weigh about 10-20% more than female Kejradin, and usually sit at about 2,000 lbs (or 907 kg).

Diet: They are omnivores, though they prefer venison and lamb and are often domesticated by feeding them meats and proteins as developing pups

Temperament: The Kejradin Wyvern are very protective of their family, and can be incredibly territorial. Unfortunately, most are domesticated by slaughtering their parents before them and their fellow pups (the term for their young) are taken in. Most Kejradin are mounts to the Aelothari Horde, a remaining Clan of Lotharro between Gauthrel and Lysoria.

Abilities: The Kejradin can grow spiked bones rapidly from many parts of their body, similar to the Albion of Gauthrel. They can launch these spikes at incredible precision, known to be capable of ripping through armor and puncturing flesh due to the high velocity and force of the flung shards. Additionally, the Kejradin can unfold (or rather expand) a set of wings from its arms at any time and take flight, making it an amiable mount for land and air. The Kejradin is a muscular, agile and durable creature, an incredible warmount far superior to both the Bruxen and Sohr Khal.
