Other Information:
Puck was, like many Yari citizens, born an orphan. Because he had no living family in the city, he was adopted by a Mercenary Company. His adopted mother is an elderly Mer woman in Deepwater Caverns, a retired member of the Death Nel Raiders. She raised him as her own after her own eggs failed to hatch, time and time again. Puck was raised among the Death Nel Raiders his entire life, and as such, every member, prominent and new, became family to the Ithecal. As a youngster, he worked tirelessly with any of the Raiders that would let him accompany them on a hunt or in training.
When he had his eighteenth birthtrial, he left home, as all proper Yari do, for his Tempering. He made his way southeast, fighting through beast and bandit in the Hot Lands, thriving in finally testing himself. When he returned to Yaralon, he was made a full and proper citizen. He was welcomed back to the Death Nel Raiders with open arms. The Ithecal went on every contract the Raiders received, acting as more of a defender of his stealthier brethren. Soon, he was the only defense any of them ever needed, allowing more of the Raiders to be out scouting or preparing for their ambush assaults.
But in 693, half of the Death Nel Raiders were on a large contract against the Eternal Empire. But somehow, the Eternals had learned of the contract, and used it as a means to set a trap for the mercenaries. It was a slaughter. Scouts were picked off and captured, the Raiders were outflanked and out-mobilized, and surrounded. And yet, they underestimated Puck. The Ithecal was a whirlwind of rage and destruction. It was only through his efforts that the few that survived, did.
The loss of so many friends, the carnage, broke something inside of Puck. The other leaders of the Raiders promoted him to leader as well, but they could see something was wrong with their champion. He had nightmares constantly, fits of outrage and crying, flashbacks of watching his friends getting slaughtered by the Eternals. For arcs after, anytime he picked up his Great Hammer, his hands shook so bad he'd drop it. He isolated himself in Deepwater Caverns, so that he wouldn't hurt anyone.
But his adopted mother never gave up on him. She was there by his side every single trial, trying to help him get through the Combat Shock he was suffering from. She helped him to focus on venting his rage through hand to hand combat, while also taking up knitting so as to keep his hands busy and his mind focused. She suffered the days when he snapped and would accidentally strike her, and would hide him from others when he couldn't do anything but cry in a corner.
It eventually got through to him. Puck never fully recovered, but he regained some semblance of self control. He no longer actively goes into battle with contracts, but he serves as protector of Deepwater Cavern and the surrounding area. He found some peace in once again defending his friends, and his episodes, flashbacks, and breakdowns are few and far between. And his co-leaders couldn't be more proud, for very few of the inner strength to overcome such a horrible affliction, one that was so prevalent in Yaralon.
