Caervalle Town

As far as towns go, Caervalle is not one that is particularly noteworthy. It is mostly known as a place to rest for journeys on the overland route from Volta to Rharne. Nestled at the edges of Ywyngyll forest, it has very little to boast of besides the temple of Ilaren built at the heart of their self-sufficient town. A bustling town surrounds the temple, lined with cobbled streets and small businesses. Further outside, the town becomes even more unassuming. Modest stone houses are scattered across the land, connected by dirt paths rather than actual roads. Fields of wheat can be seen just outside the town border, along with ranches and wineries.
Only by close observation would one notice that Caervalle isn’t entirely as it seems.
The temple of llaren situated in the center of the town was built using the same white stones used in Rharne; a stark, yet grand piece of architecture when compared to the simple residences that surround it. People are encouraged to come and pray, even if only to seek some peace by sitting in its pews. Priestesses clad in purple robes can often be seen keeping the prayer hall clean, lighting candles and conversing with most visitors. Yet, the prayer hall is the only section that is open to the public, while it is obvious to even the casual visitor that the the building itself is huge. Should one ask one of the priestesses, they will explain that it houses their living quarters and nothing more - which is not quite the whole truth.
Deeper inside the temple lies the largest complex dedicated to the Warrior Branch of the Thunder Priestesses and their work for Ilaren. The temple itself stands above a vast underground compound that works as a command center for arriving and departing warrior priestesses. Intel gathered by the agents is collected and processed here. The information will later be relayed to the other priestesses and perhaps even Ilaren herself in Rharne. The command center provides everything that priestesses might need, from stables for their mounts; both stallions and Zephyruses, to holding cells where they might place persons of interests or criminals. Many of the priestesses often choose to reside and train in the complex itself, so that they can be ready should any emergency arise. Elaborate tunnels branch out from the compound, allowing the comings and goings of the priestesses to remain unnoticed and secret. With work consisting of espionage, not many people, other than Warriors and their liaisons are aware of Caervalle’s true purpose . Even priestesses from the other branches aren’t familiar with the location.
Attached to the back of the temple is a tall tower, its entrance is only accessible from inside the command center. This tower holds a grand private library with a spiraling staircase, holding current information about cities all over Idalos and intel on the various Immortals that traverse the world. The knowledge it holds is only rivaled by the Spire. At the top of the tower is a massive flaming brazier that is used to relay information over long distances.
Caervalle’s citizens, while welcoming and friendly, are not all as they seem on the surface either. For arcs, the town has been the designated location where retired priestesses and knights may spend their later arcs in peace and prosperity, their amenities are supported by their factions. Some current knights and priestesses also reside here, along with their families. In turn, these people protect the priestesses and the safety of the town, even if they aren’t entirely aware of the truth regarding what lies beneath their homes. With most of its citizens trained in combat, it comes as no surprise that Caervalle is easily one of the most secure locations for the Warrior Branch, perhaps excluding Rharne itself.
