Late Morning, 52 Ashan, Arc 719
On the island of Tyros, in the small city of Miletos, the late Ashan morning proved warmer than if they’d still been in Quacia. Zarik sneaked away, from his studies and obligations, to indulge in the villa that served as their new home. Temporary though the estate might prove to be, he still enjoyed the open-air courtyard and the fresh scents of an island breeze that passed through the space.

With gossamer wings and crystalline legs, the blond was hardly recognizable except for those who understood that Zarik was now a Becomer - or who was familiar with the visage of his sister, Kiara. He swam in the rectangular courtyard pool. The biqaj enjoyed the intimate swimming space and the water was warmer than the courtyard pool at Woodstock Hall in Quacia. It was one of the few reasons he preferred to voluntarily leave his office.

He’d only been swimming for a few bits before a thrall approached with someone in tow. Zarik finished the handstand he’d been performing, gracefully slid through the water before he went to the edge of the pool. With the eyes of his sister, he gazed with blue irises at the familiar Lotharro, brother of the former slave Kaelrik, the ax-wielding warrior: Korik. He hadn't expected the man to remain in the area. When he'd sent Kaelrik to reunite with his brother in Quacia, he assumed that they would merely take off to go north and the deal that he'd struck with Korik would be long forgotten.

But it seemed that wasn't the case. He'd met with Kaelrik by chance yestertrial and learned that Korik felt a sense of honor to maintain the agreement. It was a needless and silly notion, after all, Zarik could have simply reunited the brothers without any exchange or trade. It wasn't even a proper exchange. The only trade had been Zarik's offer of employment, which Korik had accepted rather than denied. He could have denied it. Zarik still would have reunited the brothers if Korik had said no. The biqaj wasn't heartless, after all.

Zarik remembered that he’d told Kaelrik that the man could visit to determine the specifics of his employment. He gathered his long blond hair around his female-curved shoulder and said, “I wondered if you were going to show or not.”

He leaned over the edge of the pool, then gestured for Korik to come closer. His voice rang in a feminine, melodic tone. "Your brother says that you intend to fill the promised role under my employ? Have you decided how long you believe would be suitable for your sense of honor?"

Late Morning, 52 Ashan, Arc 719

Life on the islands had been different. What was slums and mud had become strongly built structures and sunlight. The Islands were a much more suitable place in the Lotharro's mind. While they seemed to hide many secrets that he had not yet found, he still felt better about the whole situation. While he made his way through the markets, following the instructions to get to the man who had offered him employment in a trade of sorts. The reunion of the brothers had been set up by the man, and while they could have left with no worry. Korik was bound by his honor to meet the agreement.

As he rose from his bed and covered himself in cloth and armor. Protection from anything that might bring him harm as he made his way. The little he knew about the situation of the islands was they were at war and the group that he was now involved with were the invaders. Though it mattered little, war and battles were a way of life.

Within a few moments, he had crossed the market and arrived before the place of their meeting. Met by a someone who seemed to be expecting him, he was led to the pool. His hand resting on the head of the trusted ax at his side. Instinct to be ready to fight flaring as they walked. It wasn't that he was untrusting of the man who brought him together with his brother. But one could never be to careful.

He stepped into the pool area, eyes glancing around for the man that he was to meet. A pair of feminine legs seemed to break the water as he stood. A blond female rising from the water a few moments later. An eyebrow raised, as he looked over what he could see rising from the water. His hand moving from the ax as the two communicated. “I wondered if you were going to show or not.”

"I am a man of honor, I gave my word and thus I am here." He sounded, the strength in his voice returned as though a burden had been lifted from his shoulder. Renewed with a sense of accomplishment, the man seemed to be reborn. "Though there is some mistake. I am here to meet with a man named Zarik. Though I'm sure you are of fine company, I am here to settle the deals of the debt." The female continued to speak of the deal. Asking questions as if she knew of all that was spoke of. A sense of unease floated around the Lotharo. Curious as to if he was being tricked or not, his brothers words ringing in his ears. "Am I to be dealing with you in his wake? I do not have a limit to the time of our deal. If I am to stay here a while, then I would be all but a fool if not to take up the offer of employment. "

Re: Arrangement

With the slender body of his youthful sister, the same age as him, the Biqaj pressed himself over the edge of the pool. He hopped up with ease, then lifted to stand in front of the warrior. His long blond hair framed the gentle curves of his feminine features, the soft slope of his shoulders and the delicate bone structure of a face that resembled Zarik’s in the sense of blood relation. His body was hardly covered, only a thin mesh of a swimming suit to keep him from being completely exposed.

He gathered his hair around one shoulder, twisting the water out of the blond strands. Korik seemed a proud man. He spoke with strength in his voice and showed his instinctive resolve even more blatantly in the way he held himself. The broad shoulders, the well-developed muscular frame, the balanced posture of a man ready to fight at a moment’s notice… Zarik couldn’t help but consider that the northern race of bestial men were indeed handsome specimens and he understood for a short moment why his husband liked to collect them as he did.

A smile wound on the woman’s lips, when it seemed the Lothar didn’t recognize him. He knew that the wings wouldn’t be familiar, he’d gotten them in an awakening after they’d met in Quacia, and his crystalline legs hadn’t been seen either. He couldn’t blame him, he supposed.

“Sorry,” said Zarik in apology. “I didn’t mean to confuse you.”

For a moment, he considered lying… deceiving the Lothar for the fun of it and pretending to be his sister. But as he considered it, before he committed to such a playful act of deceit, he grew weary of it all the same. So instead, he said, “Are you familiar with the magic of Becoming?”

Zarik gestured for Korik to follow him, and he walked along the pool’s edge. He reached a round outdoor table with two chairs beside it. Zarik gestured for the Lothar to sit in one, though he didn’t move to sit in the other. He leaned against the table instead and continued to wring his hair dry. His blue eyes glimmered in the sunlight as he observed the Lotharro. “You know me to be a mage already. This is one of my forms. I would transform back, to how you met me, but it would take a few bits and hurt a great deal. So, if you do not mind, I’d prefer to stay in this form.”

“Now, as to the matter of debt…” he hummed quietly. “Is it truly a debt if I am the one to pay you? You have misunderstood, perhaps. You are no servant, and you are not under any kind of servitude, nor do I wish for you to be. I made an offer to you, but it is an offer of respectable employment befitting any hard-working warrior, regardless of favors made or returned. You are free to deny it. I do not require a resentful man wielding an axe at my side… but an honorable man who would sincerely fulfill the role of guard and protector of my person… that I do require.”

Zarik stared at the Lotharro, blue eyes piercing, and he awaited a response before saying anything further on the matter.

Re: Arrangement

Today seems to highlight the nasty habit of threads getting snubbed. Sorry to see that this was stopped so soon in its development. It was starting to go somewhere interesting, especially with Korik and yourself at the helm, I'm sure.

I hope these rewards are a consolation.
