14th of Cylus, 719.
The waves of Flameborn incursions upon the Stormwastes had only increased since the initial invasion. Even when outright attacks upon Storm's Edge weren't cause enough to worry, the sheer presence of Flameborn in such large numbers had all Justiciars on the highest state of alert. It seemed like every Storm Roc in the city had been outsourced for scouting, monitoring movements and launching coordinated assaults within the Stormwastes to keep the Flameborn from ever reaching close enough to inflict serious damage on the outland fortress. Pressed against flame-wreathed monsters all but impervious to most conventional weapons, they'd suffered heavy casualties, resorting to temporary fixes like distractions, delays, booby traps and isolating the Flameborn, followed by repeated coordinated assaults to wear the creatures down into submission. Unfortunately there was nothing to be done. They were simply stretched too thin, struggling against a seemingly inexhaustible number of foes, juggling what little reinforcements they had. Nir'wei, for his part, made do.
