Origins
Raelia - the capital of Melrath that serves as a melting pot of culture, yet as artisans ply their trade and citizens labor away; there are those who vie for power and status. One such woman who thought to accomplish this fell short however, the arranged marriage to come made with that of a lowly Ragnari. However out of this arrangement, a child was given birth later within the new Arc that followed behind. Sariah was born as the child of a loving and supportive father, and yet the product of a mother who still yearned for a higher status...
Childhood
Believe it or not Sariah had a good childhood throughout her Arcs, the time spent growing under the care of her parents allowed her to thrive. She quickly took to reading, once she became eligible enough for tutorship in her early stages of development. Somehow the growing girl just loved the world of books, rather more so than she did the world itself in fact. Come the time when she was of age however, her mother insisted that Sariah learn how to be a lady proper, and her father didn't seem to disagree with the idea.
Thus when Sari reached the age of ten, she began the private lessons her parents could afford; in hopes that they might see her grow into the perfect lady in time.
Adolescence
As lessons proved a difficult thing to enjoy there came about other pressing matters, for not all in society are so gracious or humble as they're made out to be. Sariah being the only child with no legitimate means of defending herself, she quickly became the center of unwanted attention from others in her early adolescence. The growing girl received a lot of jokes and jabs targeted at her, adding to her sense of insecurity when lessons came around.
While her parents, Sari's father especially, did what they could to encourage her; Sariah found that such attempts didn't resolve the cause. In fact the more she tried to ignore or diffuse the situation, the worse it would become depending on the boy or girl being nasty towards her. However it didn't last for much longer, as a baker's boy one Trial took to protect her. This child certainly looked to be older by several Arcs, yet that didn't stop him from fighting any boys who pestered the girl.
This led to Sariah and the boy Artur becoming friends, although her mother certainly didn't approve of his stature and etiquette. Nevertheless the change in attitude and demeanor wasn't unnoticed, Sariah who seemed always so timid and withdrawn slowly came to open up. The same energetic little girl that her parents remembered still lingered, even after all the torments brought onto her by those within her environment. Both Sariah and Artur grew to become impeccable friends, as he would always watch out for Sariah to make sure no one ever made her cry again.
Transition
As she reached the point of her life where adulthood was imminent, Sariah took a liking to different types of books. Her lessons and lectures into womanhood a constant ache in her reality, she often found relief and enlightenment in whatever tomes she could read. More often than not the books she most enjoyed were the ones with adventure and excitement, although the mystery genre became another favorite she explored as well. Artur who could barely write and let alone read was soon involved, roped into the aspect of learning both with the help of his younger friend.
While Sariah was happy to teach him there were also other pressing matters on mind, with her mother finally working as a servant to House Veldaris after Arcs of diligent planning and practice. Sariah's father still served as a Ragnari at this time, however a terrible injury led him to requiring time away to heal and recuperate. This naturally put a strain on the marriage as Sari's mother, Selene, felt that the father, Richard, wasn't going to do much good for their household. The tension between them grew and tested the both of them at times, all while Sariah was led to believe that they would work things out eventually.
Once his injuries were healed enough however Richard was not allowed to resume his normal duties, which caused further dissent in the relationship between the mother and father. Gradually he came to realize the truth about his wife Selene, and so Richard considered that maybe a future without her would be better. The only problem being the one thing he did love out of the marriage, which was the little girl Sariah who was nearing the point of adulthood as things gradually declined.
Adulthood
Sariah's life as a lady in training still remains a lofty challenge now that expectations are severe, bitter talks of marriage between her parents meant she was nearing the point of duty. However with the divide felt in her family, Sariah knew it wouldn't be long before something gave way. She'd come to expect with great hope, that the two might come to a difficult decision later. So that should the divorce should happen, she'd hopefully have the choice of living with her beloved father. However such wasn't the case...
One dreary morning news had reached her mother and then her, as her father had met with a terrible end during his patrols the night prior. It had looked as though bandits were the cause of the scene, leaving the family to mourn the loss without a killer in custody. No justice was served on behalf of her father either, for none could seem to apprehend the ones responsible for this. And so Sariah grew to resent her mother even more, determined to break away as she sought a means of escape.
An escape that no longer required her precious books anymore...
