Name Darryl
Race: Human
DoB: 29th Cylus, 700
Title: Blue Cloaked member of the Order of Adunih
Skills: Caregiving: Competent, Linguistics: Expert, Medicine: Novice, Teaching: Novice, Unarmed Combat: Competent

Darryl is a blue cloaked member of the Order of Adunih who works in the Earth Quarter Branch of the Order of Adunih. He is a perfectionist, and he has little tolerance for those who he feels are slacking due to laziness or a desire to get by with a minimum amount of work rather than trying their best/putting their best work forward. Darryl drives himself very hard, and he expects others to try their best. He will tolerate those he feels are not doing the best they can to learn/do their chosen fields, but he will never like or respect them. At times, this can come of as him being aloof and distant with his coworkers, but he is always strictly polite and professional with those that he tolerates rather than likes. Beneath this prickly nature, Darryl has a ready charm that makes him easy to like. He shows this charm to the people he does genuinely like, and to those he is trying to impress. Darryl also has a very competitive nature. He is constantly competing against himself, and everyone else that is under Aryana's guidance. He is eager for approval, and he can easily be crushed if he feels that someone who has authority over him is disappointed with him. Darryl does tend to bounce back quickly though, even more determined to succeed than he was before.

He has a good bedside manner, and he is endlessly patient with the patients he tends to. But he is far better at seeing to their needs during and after their treatment while they are recovering than he is at treating them himself, so he is never allowed to treat patients on his own. Another thing he is good at is languages. At need, he will serve as a translator for patients who do not know Common.

Before joining the Order, Darryl earned money as a brawler. He and his younger brother were good enough at fighting to make a decent living on the prize money that they won. Darryl had a vicious temper that he often unleashed during his matches as a means of working off his anger in an acceptable way. It worked well until he went too far in a fight. His opponent suffered a severe injury, and he was banned from fighting again. He might have drifted aimlessly for the rest of his life if his opponent hadn't been out for revenge. Denied his true target, Darryl's opponent went after his younger brother, Sandril in a match that went too far. Sandril died of his injuries. The loss of his beloved younger brother was a devastating blow. But rather than seek revenge, he chose to join the Order and learn how to heal in the hopes that he would never have to watch another loved one die again.

Darryl is fluent in Common. He is conversational in Xanthea. And he knows a few words of Dehasin and Rakahi.

Re: Darryl

Hey Seira,

Here we go:
  • Too many skills, similar issue to the last npc. Give him more focus. He has brawling in his background, so it works for him to have unarmed combat. However, he also appears to have some serious academic focii like research and writing. Why? I didn't see a sign of that in his background. He doesn't need competent writing in order to write legitbly. Writing is mostly about communicating through the written word.
  • About this quote:
He is a perfectionist, and he has little tolerance for those who he feels are slacking. Darryl drives himself very hard, and he expects others to keep up with his pace. At times, this can come of as him being aloof and distant with his coworkers, but he is always strictly polite and professional with those that he tolerates rather than likes.
Who does he tolerate? It seems like he has little tolerance for some within the Order? Or those who are slacking? This isn't in line with the ethos of the Order. If one person falls behind, the next one up picks up the slack and there's little time wasted on pointing fingers or assigning blame as this man seems inclined to. That's the work ethic of the Order of the Adunih. They do not judge or denigrate those who are having off days or who one member may feel aren't contributing. The guy seems a bit too snarky for the Order, honestly.
  • Background and languages look okay.
That's all for now.

Re: Darryl

I think that I have addressed these issues. I've cut back on his skills - I admit, I keep forgetting that you don't need Writing to be able to write clearly, as that is how I have seen the skill used and have used it in the past. I'm pretty sure I had a comment about one of my PCs writing skills with low/no writing ability in the past for that reason, but I could be misremembering.

He has little tolerance for people he feels are not trying as hard as they can. Aside from that, he has no problems with anyone. I have tried to make this more clear.

Re: Darryl

He has waaay too many skills still. For an idea of how many skills a Order member at Blue Cloak ought to have, take a look here: viewtopic.php?f=139&t=4988

Same thing as Aryana, choose a focus, narrow it down, and tone it down. He doesn't need that many skills at expert and competent.

Re: Darryl

I have cut back and toned down his skills considerably. Hopefully this is okay.

Re: Darryl

I'm just going to say it and copy paste to all three NPCs that you've submitted. I'm not happy with these npcs. They're not fit to run a band-aid stand, let alone the Dust Quarter Clinic in one of the highest demand places for healing in Rharne. Not as high ranking (blue or gold) cloaks in any section of the order. They're green cloak material at best, as they are the ones in obvious need of guidance.

Ayrana isn't guiding anyone with her lack of skill as a healer, and her complete lack of caregivin and leadership.

Darryl has attitude problems. He wouldn't last long in the Order.

Terisa is the only one that approaches even mildly acceptable but not as a blue cloak.

I suggest you work out the if and how you're going to join the Order before you jump the gun with developing NPCs for it. Faith is the leader of the Order in Rharne currently. She is available to roleplay with. I suggest you take advantage of that potential resource and learning experience, if you're serious about joining the order with Seira. Since the Order is a player faction led by Faith, she will develop any needed NPCs for the Order in Rharne.
