Faith looked at Alissa and sighed slightly. "They're called Lethe, so Stone Talon tells me," she said. The small mouse-sized flying things. Ever since they got back from Quacia these things had plagued themFrom the Guild of Raw Materials
Dragonet Net: In the aftermath of Ruin's Dawn, everyone in Light's Gluttony will find their homes, when they return, infested by Lethe dragonets. To help with this problem, Stone Talon has gifted them with an ancestral heirloom of his, which is a net that is used for catching rats typically but also works well on the Lethe. When captured by the net, any dragonet inside of it will find it cannot escape. Moreover, it will be rendered helpless for a bit after being removed from the net. Allowing it to be slaughtered for food. They will find the Lethe, upon capturing with a Dragonet Net and rendered into meat for consumption, increase their physical capabilities by one full level (Athletics, Strength, Endurance, Resistance) for roughly a break after eating them. The Lethe infestation will last a full cycle after the Global, or until they write a story to rid themselves of the Lethe.
. It had only been a few days, but Faith had seen that they weren't going anywhere and so, they had to deal with it.

"We need to act," she said and Alissa sighed slightly. "What did you do?" Faith beamed at Alissa and her self-appointed bodyguard and friend shook her head. "You know what we did," Faith said and Alissa chuckled. "Yes. Essentially. You went and irritated a very big bad who has now decided that you're irritating?" Faith didn't even bother to reply, she merely smiled. "Would you ask Emily and Marnie to meet me at the Library, please?" Alissa nodded and Faith turned to Alex, her personal assistant. "Alright, Alex, lets get ourselves sorted, shall we?" He nodded. "That net will be helpful, but there's only one of it," Faith shook her head. "Two. Padraig got one too. He's going to be in the Observatory with the others, making sure that no one is ... well, for want of a better word, underfoot." The Lethe were small but they were vile little nippy creatures.

"I want to get an area set up, in one of the caves, please. It should be a cold storage for the bodies of these creatures." Alex nodded his head, apparently unsurprised at Faith's request; in truth, it was far from a shock. "We need to examine them. In order to understand them, I want to perform some autopsies, there might be a lot to find out there. The Wounded God might resurface, and I want to have a clear idea of how to make his day a poor one." Alex raised an eyebrow. "He annoyed you?"

Faith looked at her assistant and smiled slightly "He got under my skin," she admitted. "Can you set that up? I'll meet you there." Alex nodded his head and the pair of them made their way out. Then, Alex went towards the cave entrance and Faith made her way to the library. The small creatures swarmed in on her and she activated her ring which sent an armour of solid air around her. As she walked, she observed the creatures and she sighed slightly. They were beautiful in their own way but they were nasty, biting little things and they couldn't stay. There were children in this settlement - her children - and she had no intention of putting them in danger. She walked into the Library, and Faith looked around. There were Marnie and Emily, and she walked over to them. "Hello," she said and then smiled at Alissa. "Thank you, all. Alright, so these creatures need dealing with. I have all the hunting skill and knowledge of an average leprechaun and so I was hoping that you'd be able to help?"

Emily smile slightly and nodded. "I'm a decent enough huntress," she said softly. Marnie raised an eyebrow and then realised why it was that she was here. "I can build things, design them and so on, if you wish?" Faith nodded. "Excellent. I'd like you to include Jai'den in this, he'll be able to help too. So, here are two nets. They were given to us by Stone Talon and they will, apparently, work on these creatures particularly well." Emily took one and examined it carefully. "You're sure?" Faith nodded her head in response. "I have no reason to doubt him, and he definitely knows about it, so yes."

Then, she turned to Alissa. "I want you to take Tina and Katie to accompany you. Guard Emily and Marnie, they aren't there to be combatants." Alissa's response was immediate and Faith knew she was going to say it before the words came out of her mouth. "Where will you be?" Faith smiled at her. "I'm going to be in a cave with Alex, examining the corpses and trying to gather as much information as possible about these creatures. We'll be storing them and once we've got all the information we can, I'll move to the Inn and start cooking them." Alissa looked at Faith and she opened her mouth, then closed it again. "There's no point having the conversation with you, is there?" Faith beamed.

"None at all. So, are we happy?" There were nods all around so, they got to work.

Alex and Faith made their way down in to the cave system beneath the home she and Padraig shared. There, they made their way to the cold-cave which had been set up specifically for her medical work. Padraig was very sure of the need to keep that separate from food storage, and so it was. This area was set up in preparation for that, and so they needed to make sure that it was now cleared and made suitable for what they were going to do. "Over there," she said, pointing to an empty space. "We should bring in the cold boxes that we have which we can use to store them, keep them at sub-zero. Then, we can take them out individually. If we do that, though, I want to make sure those boxes are secure." Alex nodded his head.

The pair of them moved to the cave kept for food storage and brought out the boxes needed. They were large enough to store meat in and Faith was confident that they would work for what they wanted. She made sure to arrange them in a way which was most efficient, and she then moved and got her medical supplies ready. "While I'm doing this, Alex, would you set up some small containment boxes?" She smiled at her assistant and he quirked an eyebrow, just slightly. "In case I need to store one or more next to me while I work,, I'd like some individual boxes which will keep them. Also, weights and locks for the boxes." He nodded. Faith thought that the layer of metal inside the boxes - the one nestled between Scalvoris green sand and held in place by the outer and inner boxes should be enough, but she was a great believer in making absolutely sure, and so she did.

As they worked, above ground Marnie was making traps, instructing Jai'den also, and Emily was catching them. When the first batch were brought in - a box with five of the small creatures in it, they were brought in by one of the settlers from Quacia. Faith looked up at them and smiled. "Hello, Shotan," she said softly. "Please bring it over here," Shotan was carrying a box, medium in size. He put it down and she saw that he was thinking of what to say. "What is it?"

Faith would never quite get used, she knew, to the way that these people treated her. She wasn't comfortable with the level of fame that she had but the refugees from Quacia saw her as a spiritual leader, and that was quite something else to her. But, it was her discomfort to deal with so she simply treated them the way she treated everyone. "It is not hunting," Shotan said. "It is catching." Faith considered it. "So, you're trapping them, but there's no need to hunt them? Do you think we could get more people on this, then?" She asked, as much to speak the thought allowed as anything. "Get people working in groups of three. Capturing them." Shotan nodded and smiled. "As you wish it, we will do."

Faith considered that, in all fairness, she really wished they wouldn't. But there it was.

"Alright. I'm going to get started on these," she said to Shotan, gesturing to the box he'd brought with him. Looking at the box, she asked. "Where is the net?" He gestured outside and Faith was glad of that, she didn't want to have to extricate the nets every time someone brought a box in. "Alright, we'll get going on working out a way to kill them humanely, and then I'll start autopsies and dissections. I want to use all the animal, if it's possible."

Looking at Alex, she considered her assistant. "Probably best that you roll up those sleeves," she said with a ghost of a smile. "While we find out what colour the blood of a Lethe is."

Alex returned her gaze with a deadpan expression, but Faith knew better and she grinned.

Notes:
Faith, in all things, is so wonderfully organized and just goes full tilt. A little pocket rocket that takes the time to consider how best to accomplish something, and to write a character like that can be challenging, but you clearly describe how she thinks and why.....yet there is a subtle emotion underneath all that that I find endearing. It's one of the reasons I love how you write Faith.

Set up threads can be tricky but I think you handled this one incredibly well. I was able to keep up with that everyone was doing and understood the reasoning behind the actions.

I'm always impressed how you handle multiple npcs and weave them seamlessly into the scene with your characters, and this solo was an excellent example of it. In addition, you gave the reader just enough information to get them wanting more to the scene as it ends. A subtle tease, but it works really well because I never felt like I was overwhelmed with information.

Nasty little things, those Lethe are. I didn't realize that was one of the consequences of the Quacia part of Ruin's Dawn, but what a great rp device for your pc to have to contend with! I'm looking forward to the next chapter!
