92nd of Vhalar 721

The shallow bay Egilrun is situated upon is used, these trials, for crafts and crafting. From boatmakers to weaponsmiths, glassblowers to metalworkers, the sound of hammers and saws can be heard almost every break of the trial, with crews working in shifts to produce the beautiful craftsmanship which they might, one trial, become famous for.

Rei'sari started her ritual by getting several stacks of paper, and a few pens to write with. Since she was going to rewrite some of her existing stories rather than write a new one totrial the next thing she did was to get the stories that she wanted to rewrite. Once she was done with that, she got herself a big glass of her favorite fruit juice. Finally, she flexed her fingers and gave herself a nice long stretch. With that, her ritual was complete so she sat down at her desk and made herself comfortable.

Her ritual was a comfortable one. Rei'sari did it every time she sat down to write a new story. And even though she wasn't planning to write a new story totrial, she was sitting down to write so she performed her ritual all the same. Rituals were important. This particular one calmed her mind and put her in the right frame of mind to write.

Rei'sari started with the first story she had written about Ari'sora. She read through the story first to refresh her memory on the story that she wanted to improve. As she did so, she was hit by some of the same feelings she had felt while writing the story for the first time. Flashes of Ari'sora's memories drifted through Rei'sari's mind for several bits, and she didn't try to stop it. She was not Ari'sora, and Ari'sora's memories had no power to hurt her.

Rei'sari read the story for a second time; this time with an eye for mistakes and things that she wanted to change. Then she began to write. The words flowed through her as her pen danced across the page. When she worked on parts that she didn't want to change she copied them word for word. But when she did come across a section that needed to be improved she didn't glance at the original copy even once.

After a while, she finished with the first story. When Rei'sari reread the new version she found that she was happy with it for the most part. But since she wanted to put all of the Ari'sora stories into one book rather than keeping them all separate, she made a few changes to the ending of the story to make it seem more like the first chapter of a book rather than a complete story in and of itself.

With that done, Rei'sari moved on to the second story she had written about Ari'sora. As with the first, she started out by rereading it before she began making changes. But unlike the first, she was ready for the feelings that rereading the story triggered for her and she didn't need to reread the second story twice before she began making changes. Once she was finished rewriting the second story, she moved on to the next. And the next after that until she had improved all of the stories she had written about Ari'sora. Finally, she put all of the newly rewritten stories together in one book.

It was time for a break, so Rei'sari stood up and stretched for several bits. When her muscles felt less stiff, she went to prepare herself a quick meal. As she ate, she thought about the other story that she wanted to improve. It was a story about a talking cat that she had written when she had first started writing stories. It was, in fact, the first story she had written. The cat who was the main character in the story was based off of Shadow, a talking cat that had been very close to Ari'sora. One that she hoped to meet for herself some trial and see if the two of them could be friends. The story was also the first story in what Rei'sari hoped would be a series of books about a talking cat some trial.

When Rei'sari finished eating, she cleaned up after herself. Then she cleaned up her desk a bit, putting both versions of the stories about Ari'sora away so that she would have more space to write. Once that was accomplished, she poured herself another glass of her favorite fruit juice before giving herself another good stretch. Finally, she sat down once more, ready to write.

Rei'sari began by rereading the story. Even as she made mental notes of areas that she wanted to improve, she found that she was enjoying the story. And that was important...to her, at least. She believed that it was best to write stories that you yourself were interested in reading because that helped you to create a better story. If you weren't interested in the story that you were trying to create...how could you expect anyone else to be interested in it?

Once she had finished rereading her story, she began to write. Words flowed from her pen, and she was quickly lost in the story that she was trying to improve. Some parts were copied word for word, but others were changed completely. Still others were fine for the most part, but needed minor corrections to make them better. A difference in word choice here, and a bit more or less description there. Finally she was done.

Rei'sari reread the newly improved version of her story, and she was happy with the changes she had made. So she made a second copy of the story. She liked the idea of keeping a copy of every story that she wrote for a number of reasons. Doing so would allow her to reread her stories any time she wished. It would also make it easier for her to write new stories in a series if she wanted to do so. There would be less of a chance that she would forget a part of the world she created in her stories and write something that conflicted previous books.

By the time that she was finished, it was getting dark. She started to make something simple for her evening meal, but she was distracted when she heard someone singing outside. Rei'sari went to see who it was, but found no one. That was strange. The singing hadn't stopped, but Rei'sari couldn't see anyone who might be singing.

It took her a few bits to realize that the sound of singing was coming from above her. Could someone by singing while flying overhead? She looked up, but once again she didn't see anyone who the sound could be coming from. She did see stars though. Could the stars themselves be singing? It didn't seem possible, but Rei'sari couldn't come up with any other possible explanation. And this was Scalvoris, after all.

The singing was beautiful, and it filled Rei'sari with a feeling of hope and joy. So much so that she wanted to be a part of it rather than just experience it. She started humming softly.
