When Clara's parents moved to Scalvori, Clara followed happily. His father, a carpenter, helped on whatever carpentry business he could help on while her mother, a cook, stayed at home to take care of their only daughter.
Ever since a young age, Clara would help anyone in need, just like her parents taught her. A small coin here. A piece of bread there. She had no reservations against loosing her entire meal just to see someone's eyes light up, but her parents made sure that there was always some food available for her only daughter if this ever occured. Clara was always happy to give out any carrots her mother gave her though.
Both her parents enjoyed helping others, and Clara would always acompany them, doing the best she could to help out. Singing a lullaby to the younger generation... Helping out in any celebration... Even helping the elderly eat by feeding them soup. Clara would do this often and always with a sweet smile on her face, so of course, when she came to Scalvori, both her and her parents started helping out in the orphanage and soup kitchen.
Because of this, she became friends with many of Scalvori's poor, often engaging in conversations with them. One in particular left quite an impression on her. He was an artist that sold everything he had in order to buy a very expensive ring for the woman he loved, only to see her with another man the following week, just as he was going to propose to her. He would tell the story many many times and Clara would pay full attention to it every single time, and in exchange for her attention, he would teach her how to draw and paint.
She learned many things with the poor people, and she was now ready to begin her own journey through life, away from her parents... but still in the same city of course.
