People
| Name | Description | |
| Balthazar Black | Once known as the Bloody Prince around Rharne in brawling circles, he's now known as the Star (Not Champion) of the All-Taverns Tournament. He was the greatest among the qualifiers in the Tournament, next to Ground Pounder, who he never got to fight. Nevertheless, he's hailed for his role in defending the arena against the Syroan terrorist attack in early Zi'da 722. Rumor: Rumors persist that Balthazar and Ilaren met after the All-Taverns Tournament. Ilaren insists that it was just a training session for the Star of the Tournament, but the more she denies it, the more rumors persist there was more to that meeting. It's thought that perhaps Balthazar is a secret agent for Ilaren, who has infiltrated Scalvoris society. Reputation Very Positive | |
| Dandelion | Dandelion, a strong silent survivalist type who is said to live in the wilds of Rharne has been shown to be a good sort to the people of Rharne. Giving a donation of fine furs to the Thunder Priestesses in their drive to gather clothing for the unfortunate and poor. He's also noted to have culled the exploding deer and buck population in the wilds, thus ensuring that the predators of the wild do not grow too bold and numerous. He's also been seen helping out around Eureka, aiding the people there in the ways of fieldcraft and fishing. He's also taught the people of Eureka sign language, to the point where everyone now is able to sign fairly well, and communicate without speaking. He also had a hand in discovering the source of dead animals in Eureka, and the substance that caused them harm. People have begun to see Dandelion as a person who can just generally get things done. Rumor: Some people outside of Eureka who know of and have heard of Dandelion have begun to wonder if he's a telepath, that can communicate without speaking. This rumor is tempered though by the people of Eureka, who assure anyone who asks that he simply speaks with his hands. Reputation Excellent | |
| Elisabeth Angelus | A former resident of Rharne and Viden, now a leader of a settlement of Scalvoris. She's nonetheless made a splash in recent arcs, most recently in the All-Taverns Tournament, where she and her betrothed competed in brawling combat, and ended up thwarting a terrorist attack at that event. Elisabeth is particularly praised around the Earth Quarter, around Little Ivorian, among the Ithecal there who praised her defeat of the talented Fastia Ghastlilus in the early rounds. Rumor: There's a rumor that Elisabeth is a powerful Empath, who managed to thwart the anger of the crowds attending the tournament as she forfeited the Semi-Final. Reputation Positive | |
| Faith Augustin | Faith is known globally as a do-gooder, and Rharne is happy to be the place where she calls home. They've even begun to advertise that she's setting up a settlement near the Western bank of the Zynyx River, near Volta, called Eureka. In addition, as a result of her deeds in Quacia, many of the Refugees from Quacia this season will hear rumors of her establishing a settlement in Eureka, and seek her out with offers to help. However, Eureka's growth hasn't been as large as expected, given Faith Augustin's track record of building towns such as Beacon in Scalvoris. Yet people still favor her and her efforts in Rharne strongly. She's especially well-loved in the Dust Quarter, among the Quacian refugees. There's also a small following of Quacian Ithecal in Little Ivorian who sing her praises into their cups at night. She was a high-profile spectator during the All-Taverns tournament, and crucial in the defense against the terrorist attack by Syroan Cultists that unfolded. It is said that she hugged a Sessfiend so hard, that it jumped willingly into a body of water where it was said to drown! She turned into a glowing tree in the middle of the Lightning Dome, which healed most of those who were hurt during the Terrorist attack. A season later, in Cylus 722, it's said she emerged from the tree, looking much better than when she'd been wrapped up in its bark. Rumor: After turning into a glowing tree in the middle of the Lightning Dome, Faith Augustin is believed to be the daughter of Ashan by many who witnessed the miracle. Reputation Heroic. | |
| Praetorum | Known as a captain and commander of the Skydas Company, located in a keep not far from Zynyx Market, Praetorum is well-respected for his part in cleaning up the bandit population around the Stormlands. His role in the All-Taverns Tournament was well noted, however some were terribly surprised at the upset as the Ground Pounder bested him, who was the favorite to win the entire Tournament according to running odds. Rumor: There's a rumor that Praetorum intentionally threw his match in the All-Taverns Tournament in order to make way for his friends, Balthazar and Elisabeth Angelus. Reputation Slightly Positive | |
| Rozkia | Not much is known about the pale-haired and dark skinned Naer that raked the back of the Angler, and caused him grave injury. But in the wake of her assault there's been a rise of antipathy toward Naer, more than usual. Rozkia is not well known enough for her name to have traveled far (renown is low), but her description is known. That said, there have been cases of mistaken identity. Rumor: Rumor has it that Rozkia (known as the Naer that raked the Angler) is related to the Witch Doctor, and is in fact her granddaughter. ReputationSlightly Negative | |
| Seira Shiryu | Seira Shiryu, the daughter of a Lightning Knight commander has been seen doing good deeds throughout Rharne. She gave charity to a woman that was in need, and also played a significant part in the rescue and recovery of the Dust Quarter collapse. In fact, many have begun to regard her as a folk hero, a champion of the lower classes. She'll find much greater appreciation among the lower classes, and will find people treat her better in general. She's continued this pattern of helpfulness, by engaging in kitchen duty during the hunger drive for the Dust Quarter unfortunates, feeding the poor at a soup kitchen. She also made a donation of her personal funds to the local clothier, to help clothe the homeless. It's also said that she joined the Order of the Adunih, as a Green Cloak. Rumor: Rumor has it, that Seira is secretly a master gardener, who can identify no less than forty facts on every herb on the Eastern continent! Reputation Very Positive | |
| Tristan Venora | Tristan Venora has been noted as hosting the fashionable Lady Vanessa Macbride in his new house in the Glass Quarter. Also noted is the fact that he's brought several of his royal relatives from Rynmere, and is now harboring them in his house. He's seen as a dutiful family man, but other than that, the residence of several Rynmere nobles in the Glass Quarter has raised some eyebrows. He was noted for having attended the All-Taverns tournament as a high-profile spectator, but ended up helping to deal with the terrorist attack by Syroan cultists. Someone saw him lift an entire cabinet made of stone and wood to remove a barricade! He's been noted for smoothing over some of the antipathy between the native Rharneans and the refugees from Rynmere. This has improved his reputation significantly. It's also well known that he gifted Ilaren's dog with a special toy that he crafted himself. People are more than beginning to see Tristan as a credit to Rharne society. He's become a pillar of the Glass Quarter. Rumor: Some people now think he must have Immortal blood, possibly is an estranged son of Syroa himself, to be able to move such large objects with just his arms! Stories begin to crop up about the wayward Son of Fury, some more salacious than others! Reputation Excellent | |
| Vivian Shiryu | Noted for having participated in the All-Taverns Tournament as well as a high ranking Lightning Knight Commander who led the garrison during the war against the Nickels and Bobs and their creators, Vivian is well regarded in Rharne for those reasons and many more. While she forfeited at the Quarter Final, the people were forgiving of that, as it saved the Angler's life in the end. She's well known to have slain a Sessfiend in the Bloodworks of the Lightning Dome, alongside Faith Augustin. Rumor: Rumors abound that Vivian Shiryu is a former criminal and rebel from Rynmere. This rumor is solidified by many Rynmere refugees, some of whom claim to recognise her. While this does nothing to diminish her popularity in Rharne, she is treated less than kindly by some Rynmere refugees. Reputation Excellent |

Ymiden 722 Seasonal Calendar
Weather in Rharne
Ymiden Weather
Ymiden is known for its hot, summer weather and strong hurricanes. Though this season isn't as unbearable as Saun, Ymiden provides more cloudless days than cloudy. Astronomers cherish this season for its clear skies, giving way to cool nights full of stars and moonlight. Ymiden is also the season where most festivals take place. Crops planted during Ashan will be harvested before the middle of Ymiden, allowing for enormous feasts, plenty of drink, and an unlimited supply of entertainment.
Ymiden lasts for a total of 83 trials (days). During this time, temperatures remain moderate while oceans and any other body of water become warm enough to swim in. The storms that occur throughout this season can be severe, ranging from hurricanes, typhoons, tornadoes, and monsoons. However, each region will experience the effects of this seasons differently.
In Rharne, there are storms throughout Ymiden but they are as swift as they are intense. Other than those storms, Ymiden 722 is a season of warm weather with bright sunlight in the clear skies over Lake Lovalus. It's unseasonably cold around Lovalus in particular.

Event Calendar
1st of Ymiden: Institute Challenge: The Institute has put out a call for innovators to brainstorm designs and innovations for the purposes of being used in Faith Augustin's proposed Mega-Hospital, which will be based in Rharne. Entries are due by the 83rd of Ymiden. Institute Challenge Issued Here.
1st of Ymiden: Ymiden's Rise: A parade to celebrate the season change is held on the 1st of Ymiden. It is led by members of the three core factions in Rharne and winds up the mountain from the Docks in the Dust Quarter all the way to the Sky Quarter, ending at the Lightning Cathedral. There is plenty of music, dancing, and laughter along the way, and citizens either join the parade themselves or throw flowers and rice at the marchers. Per tradition, the women wear bright beads and flower crowns, while the men wear colourful shirts and, often, beads of their own. This arc, the parade is heavily guarded, and there is a slight sense of unease amid the revelry. Nonetheless, the Parade goes on without disturbance this time around, and the party at the Lightning Cathedral ends up being one of the best in decades.
2nd-4th of Ymiden: Ilaren's Hangover: Ilaren is nowhere to be seen after the party of the decade at the Lightning Cathedral during Ymiden's Rise. It's rumored that she's suffering from a hangover to end all hangovers. There are other wild rumors that she's had a torrid affair with Ymiden, who was said to have shown at the party itself, although none can confirm any of this. Ilaren just seems to need some alone time, perhaps. Strangely, during this absencce, many of the Lightning Knights and other Palenon marked experience a distinct lack of drunkeness, and swift wit. As if they've had a couple cups of strong coffee and been sober for several trials.
5th - 9th of Ymiden: Buskerfest:
Buskerfest
is held, with strict limitations on the forms of performance that are allowed. Plays of all varieties have been forbidden in the wake of the Syroan attack and their rumored link to acting troupes. Security is high on Buskerfest, and many performers are given special attention by guards, who make a point of protecting them against some of the rowdier and more obnoxious festival goers.21st of Ymiden: Strange Brew: Empty bottles begin appearing at nearly every street corner, standing neck-up on barrels, on stands, on merchant stalls and so on. These mysterious bottles are unmarked, save for the letters M on them. Strangely, people who are marked by one immortal or another will note that they aren't empty in fact, but full of fluid commensurate with the amount of favor they have with their Immortals. When/if drunk, the marked will experience various effects, depending on the Immortal that marked them. (PM Pig Boy for details.)
36th of Ymiden onwards: Tree Brawls: In the wake of the All-Taverns Tournament two cycles ago, a great willow tree sprang up in the middle of the grounds of the arena of the Lightning Dome. The tree was said to have miraculous healing powers for those who were there at the time of its emergence. Brawls conducted on the grounds of the Arena have returned reports of easily healed bruises and contusions, and concussions and other more serious wounds. Fighters are better able to fight and brawl with each other without fear of repurcussions. As such, the Lightning Dome owner has capitalized upon this by doubling up the billing for fights, conducting them far more often. However, as wounds are barely a problem, and fights last longer typically, submission type styles have perservered in the mix of fights. The Glass Pillar dominates the Lightning Dome circuit. (Open, fights conducted in the Lightning Dome will not result in injury during this period.)
42nd of Ymiden onwards: Criminal Amnesty: Skydas Company has been intensely engaged in the hunting of bandits. To the point where it's simply no longer profitable or worthwhile to take up banditry in the Stormlands, and to a lesser extent the Stormwastes. As such, many bandits have gone as far as to turn themselves in to the authorities, for fear of the mercenary company that has become a scourge against their kind. Their desperation to escape extinction and death has inspired Ymiden to appear in the middle of the season that is his namesake. He approaches Ilaren to arrange a system of amnesty along with Ilaren's government, for any low-level criminals or bandits who are willing to work off their debt to society. Those guilty of such crimes as murder, rape, and high treason are exempt from such amnesty programs. (Criminals and otherwise convicted individuals will be forgiven their trespasses. PM Pig Boy for more details if you'd like to get in on this amnesty program.)
48th of Ymiden: School Emergency! A fire breaks out in a small school and, while no one is injured because thankfully all the children and teachers are rescued, the building is badly damaged. The children need a school, the school needs supplies. People in the Earth Quarter (where the School was) pull together to help out. Lots of volunteers needed.
52nd of Ymiden : Witch Doctor loses her tongue: Inexplicably, the Witch Doctor who was in custody of the Lightning Knights becomes the victim of an attack which claims both of her hands and her tongue, which were ripped off. Her life is narrowly saved by a few talented Thunder Priestess medics, but not before her disability becomes irretrievable. Blame for the attack is not determined, but ranges from an overzealous interrogation by a Lightning Knight gone rogue, to people in the Shadow Quarter who have a stake in maintaining her silence. It might be a good time to get any information out of the Witch Doctor, before another such attack takes her life entirely (PM Pig Boy if you wish to act upon this date in a significant way.)
61st of Ymiden: Gernevoir Renaissance: A language renaissance is happening in Rharne and, on 61st of Ymiden, the Council decree that Gernevoir should be taught in schools. To celebrate Rharnian culture they ask people to start gathering Rharnian traditions and history. All information / artefacts should be delivered to the Institute for Innovation and, next Cycle, they will form part of a "Language & Culture Fair."
83rd of Ymiden: Institute Challenge Deadline: Renowned philanthropist Faith Augustin is setting up a mega-hospital in Rharne. This hospital will be, it is said, a hospital for all of Idalos and will be at the very cutting edge of medicine. Dr Augustin has announced that she will sponsor 3 individual who put forward ideas for innovation in the hospital. Applicants are advised to send letters addressed to Faith Augustin with the proposed innovation. Institute Challenge Issued Here.

Saun 722 Seasonal Calendar
Weather in Rharne
Weather for Saun
1st - 40th of Saun
A storm and wind system from the southeast causes a lot of rare Saun rains. Almost the entire season is dominated by torrential rainfall, where the humidity is absolutely horrible. The Zynyx River floods, and some damage is done to the settlements along the banks of the river. It's reported that several Oases sprout out of the Stormwastes, and green is spotted.
Event Calendar
1st of Saun onwards: Stormlakes Appear: The torrential rainfall occurring throughout this Saun season has accumulated throughout Rharnean territory. While some areas are hard hit by the flood waters of the River Zynyx, there are other areas that are benefited this extra rainfall. The Stormwastes, for the first time in living memory, have begun to spring up with greenery and several Oases are reported. Whether this is a result of Lovalus' expansion or meddling, or the death of Faldrun, or else some freak natural occurence, people find the former Stormwastes easier to traverse, at least in terms of finding things to drink. Animals once driven out of the dead lands have begun repopulating.
13th of Saun: Ilaren's Birthday: Do Immortals have birthdays? Well, maybe, no one really thought to ask. However, an enterprising bunch of Innkeepers and brewers of ale and wine have joined together and declared that this trial shall henceforth be a celebration of Ilaren's "birth". Of course, this leads to parties and much merriment - there is even a contest for who can come up with the best gift for Ilaren. Open: Reward for Best Gift.
23rd of Saun: The Brawl that never ends: A fight begins in the Dust Quarter, in the Painted Swine, and carries on well into the streets. Riots break out, and the chaos spreads as far as the steps leading into the Earth Quarter.
33rd of Saun: Underground Thespian Rings: The general crackdown on plays and theater specifically related to acting has given rise to entertainment demands that haven't been satisfying the itch people have for truly sublime and well-written drama. The grudge matches under the Lightning Dome are all well and good, but the more high brow among society wish for something more structured and sophisticated. A traveler from Scalvoris has arrived at Madam Austere's School of Dance, and quietly proposed a contest for the one who can write the finest stage play. (Open: Submit one thread to Calendar Tracker where your pc writes a play, and a winner will be chosen at the end of the Cycle.)
35th of Saun: As One River to Another: In the midst of the torrential rains, lightning storms pick up in late Saun on the shores of the Zynyx Delta region, not far from Eureka and Volta. It becomes of interest to certain scholars at the Institute of Innovation in Rharne, as strange and unidentified herbal matter begins washing ashore. It's dead matter, apparently, and doesn't seed at all in the ground of Rharne, nor even under the sea.
Meanwhile, activity at the Rharne Prison is humming. There are rumors that prisoners are having their sentences commuted for mysterious reasons. Something found beneath the quarries of the prison, something valuable is whispered about in the darkest corners of Rharne. Rumors of a new gem, which might be claimed by a new king pin, if any thinks they can rise to the occasion, or support the efforts of one.
The Military has been mobilized at the Zynyx Delta. There are rumors of scouting parties from a distant shore having been sighted. Strange ships and sights have been spotted far out to sea, nothing solid as far as sightings, but people living on the shore have been talking of them all Cycle. Ilaren is concerned about a potential invasion from Yaralon, or some other place. She has arrived at the military camp established herself, in order to raise morale among the troops there.
