It is said that when the Immortal Treid was slain, his heart was buried in the shadows of the ice, cursed by the Immortal Audrae. His people built a city atop the frozen wasteland in hopes of one day finding it and resurrecting their fallen leader.

The Gemmery

Within the Frozen Vault is an icy door, like many, that lead to a secure compartment. Unlike the other doors nearby, this particular entry is attended by four guards who are part of the security force assigned to the Frozen Vault. Vayar Ma'Sua, master of the Frozen Vault, has informed the guards ahead of time of a movement of secure goods taken from the ore sorting facility near the Caverns. True to his word, four Ellune personel enter the Frozen Vault with a large steel strong box carried between them. Signed ice tablets are assessed by discerning guards before they are waved through. One guard places their hand on the door and uses Nilas, the Ellune ice power, to unlock the impossibly complex system of latches. The door unseals and cracks open. The strongbox is carried inside.

Inside is a large double height space occupied by Ellune who are carefully looking through great ice lenses towards fantastically small glittering objects at their finger tips. Beyond are two levels of storage shelves, occupied by secure ice boxes, each requiring Nilas to open every box.

'Where shall we put these...' One of the Ellune manages, straining under the weight of the strongbox.

Chief gemcutter, Sinu Anelka, glances up over twenty lenses, that enlarge different parts of his stern face. He tilts his head toward an ice table. The strongbox is slid heavily onto the icy table while Ellune assistants descent on the box to unlock it. They open it and then draw out a smaller box of ice.

'That will be all gentlemen.' Sinu called out while immersed in his work.

The personnel leave and the large secure door seals shut behind them.

The Ellune assistants open the package and within are large uncut gems, some sparkling through the dirt, others vibrating magically and some even floating upwards before being caught.

All of the gems in this storage vault originate from the Dig Site. The process of material gathering is simple. Material is taken from the site via large buckets raised by pulleys. Workers, move these to large trolleys, pushed down rails to the materials sorting site. Located near the edge of the deep caverns that run about the city. Thousands of ellune workers sift through each bucket of material, looking for precious minerals and gems. The rest is either cast into the deep cavern that cut around part of Treidhart, or carted out of Treidhart altogether.

The uncut gems are transported to this very vault to be cut by ellune master 'gemaires', like Sinu Anelka qalar-Treid. Their use of Nilas and the clarity of the lens, co-developed by the scientifically sound eidisi, provide some fine examples of gem cutting throughout Idalos. So much so, that the gem trade is quite strong within Treidhart's markets due to the gem fanatic Biqaj traders where gems are sold in bulk for tidy sums. Some of the magical gems require specialist Seekers who aid the process of gem creation into powerful gem artifacts. These gems are stored for use with only some finding their way on market places.

Sinu Anelka qalar-Treid

Sinu Anelka is master gemaire of the Gemmery in the Frozen Vault. His work is considered the finest among his Idalosian peers and will be given only the finest raw gems to work on. He is softly spoken and does not like to be disturbed when he works. He will mostly gesture to his underlings rather than speak to them. He and Vayar, master of the Vault, have a respectful working relationship: play by the book, don't get in each other's way and things will go smoothly.
