It Is, Like So Totally a Shopping Day!

Kyin had decided that with a new city there should be new practices. Kyin decided to start writing about his exploits by keeping a journal. Sadly Kyin didn't own a journal... or a pen, "Oh shit, this means a shopping trip," Kyin thought. As Kyin resigned himself to his fate, he went to grab a cloak, only to realize he did not own one, "Great! Not only do I have to go shopping, but I have to go clothes shopping." He was mentally preparing himself for the ordeal to come, "I guess I should find a printer or bookbinder for a journal, ink well, and pen, that should happen first, since I do not want to have to find it while carrying a ton of clothes. Then I will go buy some embellishments. Then I will buy clothes... I don't feel like waiting for a tailor, so pre-made it is."

Kyin left for By the Grace of Goods, he of course didn't know that was where he was headed, he instead just headed for the center of town, where logically the largest concentration of commercial buildings would be. After all it is only smart to have your shop as close as possible to as many people as possible. So by the time he had finally found a general store he had passed many clothing shops, because that is how it goes, you always find what you need last first. He walked into By the Grace of Goods... 'Damn, Who comes up with these dumb puns' Kyin thought to himself.

Kyin wandered through the shop looking for writing supplies, when he stumbled upon them he snatched up an ink well, an ink pen, and a leather bound journal. As he was headed up for the shop keep something shiny caught his eye, what he saw was a jewelry case. Within the case was an armband of silver, it would look like a snake coiling up his arm. When he walked up to a woman who he'd have to guess was in her early 14os (If she was a Qi'Ora, which she wasn't) "Greetings, I got some writing supplies here, and I would like that silver armband." Kyin stated in his flat monotone.

"The writing supplies are 8 golden nels total, plus the armband brings it to 12 golden nels." she said seemingly being somewhat short with him,
she must of taken offense at his boredom, not realizing it was his natural state.

"Thanks, I have heard of a bazaar, can you point me to it?" Kyin asked still about as bored as could be, as he dropped the nels on the counter and gathered up his goods.

"It is on the outer perimeter, to the Southwest." She replied.

Kyin left heading to the southwest, when he finally got out of the city limits, he found an absolutely sprawling market selling absolutely everything under the sun. Kyin was on an end that's main product is food which held little interest to Kyin, who as a Qi'Ora only ever ate a couple times a season to supplement his sunlight based diet with protein. Kyin wondered through the food sales section enjoying the smells but nothing more, he was approached by many ill informed merchants who didn't know about Qi'Ora photosynthesis, "No I don't need food more than twice a month", "I eat, like, twice a month", and "The sun is my food" were his replies to these invasive salesman.

He eventually got to the clothing area, and went to the first male clothing merchant he could find and essentially without preamble listed off "I need two linen shirts, four pairs of cotton socks, five pairs of cotton underwear to pairs black cotton pants, a black cotton jacket, a fur-lined cloak for the cold cycle, and..." Kyin looked up at something bright red with a golden tassel, "And I need THAT!" as he pointed to the fez on top of the man's head.

The merchant was more than a little taken aback "I have everything in your size except the cloak, linen shirts and the black cotton jacket. It will come to..." He paused as he calculated the cost, in an impressive display of memory, "21 golden nels."

Kyin immediately counted out 21 golden nels dropped them in the merchants hand, and watched as he packaged them up in brown paper and tied them up with twine. Kyin moved on to the next tent over and as luck would have it, it was one of the only fur salesman to show up in the bazaar in all of the hot cycle, "I need a fur lined cloak." Kyin was talking at a much slower tempo, he secretly thought this man was a bit slow in the head. After all he was a fur salesman out in the hottest season of the arc. 'Then again, I am buying furs in the middle of Saun' Kyin thought to himself.

"I think I have something in your size. Lemme check." He said eyeballing Kyin, then turning his back to Kyin. He returned with a robust cloak in his arms, he packaged it similarly and asked for "22 golden nels, you got that much right?"

"Sure." Kyin dropped 22 golden nels in place and took the cloak, walking off without further words. Kyin was a bit offended by the asshole assuming he didn't have the cash.

Kyin walked up to another random male clothing tent, "I need a black cotton jacket and two linen shirts..." Kyin stated without any form of pleasantry or preface.

"We got those in about your size, how much you got for them?" attempting to haggle.

"I don't haggle, too much effort for a couple nel. What is the list price?" Kyin asked.

"Uh, 10 golden nels and 5 silver ones." The man stated looking quite content with the list price.

"You got it." Kyin dropped the requested money, and waiting for the man to package them up. Kyin was happy to be not only done with the shopping trip, but also to be a fez richer.

Furthermore, I am of the opinion that Carthage should be destroyed!

Overview

A shopping thread! Buy all the things. Thanks for finding a creative way to write out your shopping spree.

A few suggestions on writing: it looked as though some of your paragraphs are broken up awkwardly. An example would be right in the beginning within the first three lines when you write:

“…he went to grab a cloak,
only to realize he did not own one,”

There is a line break when those two sentences should probably be combined. You could break it for the beginning of the dialogue instead.

Anyway, that is my only real critique & suggestion: to go back through and examine how your paragraphs are made and where proper grammatical line breaks should be. Otherwise, thanks for a view of Kyin obviously barely holding onto his excitement as he spends those nels (sarcasm intended).

Because of his Competency in Empathy magic, Pash exudes an aura of calm emotion that is always "on." While it's not strong enough to overcome extreme emotions and it also loses strength the more people he's around, it's still up to you how that affects your character in whatever situation we're in.
