Saoire's Realm

The tribute to Nir'wei was heartfelt and shared by all. The Immortals stood and spoke, each of them - each gave tribute to him, showed their appreciation of him. His own words back were simple. It was his honour to serve. Saoire smiled at him and nodded. Then, she spoke to all in the room. "It is incumbent on us all to not forget, " she said. "I could suggest that we each owe Nir'wei a debt, and that is right. But I believe that the best thing any of us can do to repay that debt is to live our best lives. Those lives, after all, have been earned by the actions of those we are celebrating here this evening. It is the greatest gift."

Then, when things had settled down a little it was time for another entrance. This time, Bao, Darius, and Zoro. They stepped through to applause and it was applause Saoire led. When they were all seated, she spoke once more. "I would ask every person here to remember and celebrate the actions of these brave individuals, " she said, gesturing to Nir'wei, Bao, Darius and Zoro. "To celebrate," she said. "Not simply to remember, but to act on that remembering. To give, without question. To help each other. When we each do that, the world is a better place for it."

That said, she walked over to Ruari. Kneeling next to her, Saoire smiled at her. "This is for you, brave Ruari," she said softly as she handed Ru a necklace with a glittering turtle pendant. Everyone heard her voice, but it was quiet. "It is like the necklace Doran put on you before. It will keep you safe. And for you, Wren, the same." Looking at Hart, she smiled softly. "It also keeps my gaze on them. Should anything ever harm them or try to, I will know. " Standing, she put her hand on Hart's shoulder and then moved back to the main area.

Xiur had paused briefly next to Praetorum’s chair, placing a gentle hand on the Ithecal’s shoulder. “All will be well. Let your heart and soul rest tonight and be light. Hope remains strong.” Praetorum would feel a slender weight rise away from him, as if lifted for a time, and yet the effects were felt by the entire table, something to be shared.

Ziell arrived and joined the conversation, inviting each to consider his question as they dined on their second course of food. The cadouri servers were incredibly friendly and attentive, seeing to all their needs, and before long, fairies came to visit, flitting around the table curiously.

Rand had an interesting take on Ziell's question. "Peace, I feel, had different faces. For me to be at peace, fleeting, as it make be, is to know I've given everything I can. Done everything I can." Eckman considered that, nodding his head gently. "I agree, but additionally, knowing I've given everything to others, seeing to their needs. "

The Immortal listened to Rakvald, nodding gently as he spoke of his daughter and family. “Indeed. Our loved ones have a way to unlocking those little moments of peace that otherwise would go unnoticed. Their presence, I believe, allows the hard edges of the world and life to fall away, leaving us with all that makes us light and free. A soul needs that, now and again, as a reminder. I appreciate your words, Rakvald.”

Glancing as the Ithecal answered, the Immortal sat back in his seat gently, considering what he said. “Those hard edges of the world do seem to always be threatening, so I can see how knowing those you love are safe could be a comfort.” Looking gently at him, Ziell seemed to lose focus for a second before returning his attentions to Praetorum. “There is always uncertainty with that as the dangers are vast and wide. Always working for the betterment of ourselves and others is a good goal. Thank you, Praetorum.”

Xander’s answer seemed to confirm a similar theme, and Ziell chose to recognize it. “Our loved ones provide so much, and sometimes it seems such a simple thing, having them close. It can be easy to take them for granted, but there are the lucky ones that realize this and don’t. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts.” Smiling at the man and Gennadiya, the Immortal moved on, listening to what the healer had to say.

Gennadiya had a similar take, but from a different angle, speaking of personal responsibility in the matter of peace. Nodding, Ziell smiled at her gently. “I think, often, we forget about that too. Our obligation for manifesting peace in our own lives and our responsibility to be present in the lives of those we love. Thank you for reminding us of that.”

As they worked their way through the food in front of them, the Immortal had offered up the opportunity to ask questions, but sat silently contemplating those around him until someone spoke up, breaking the ice.

Rakvald spoke first, leading Ziell to consider the individual before him with a smile. “Your daughter sees you every night, just as you see her. Minds are powerful things, as demonstrated during The Forging and beyond. I also believe that those that know and love us, will always recognize us on some level.” Tapping his fingers on the table gently, he continued, thinking about his words. “Beyond that, I think you’ll have to look inside for the answer. The ability to make that come to pass lies with you, does it not? I think you know the answer to your own question. No prophecies needed.” The Immortal gave him a knowing smile, before moving on to the next.

Pratorum’s question shouldn’t have been unexpected, but it did take Ziell a few moments to respond. “That is a complex question. It takes two or more willing parties to achieve peace, but only one aggressive side to prompt war. While world peace is always the goal, I am not sure that it will ever truly be attainable, due to the ease and propensity of people to disagree. I always hope I am wrong, but it’s something I constantly wonder about.”

Looking about the table, Ziell smiled, continuing. “Therefore, I find that people choose to focus more on their personal peace and peace of smaller components, which there is nothing wrong with doing. But as far as peaceful actions leading to overall, encompassing peace in entirety? I….hope, but I think there are too many personalities, variables, viewpoints and perspectives for that dream to realistically happen. I feel also that an enforced peace is no peace at all, but I hope, one trial, to be able to prophesize that peace is coming but, thus far, all I can say is that it's possible, if still very unlikely. ”

The blond healer brought another interesting question to the forefront, about the need to balance growth with peace. “I agree about stagnation, but I’ll get to that in a moment. I believe the answer lies in focus. This question relates in many ways to what I said to Praetorum. When people, I believe, focus bigger, more globally, is when issues most often arise. Where differences and divergences occur. Now, I’m not suggesting to ‘think small’ with growth, but perhaps smaller? There are always challenges and issues to solve on a more local or personal level that would help both the need for peace and growth, and balance that need.”

His eyes cast around the table, considering all those with him. Continuing with the answer to Gennadiya’s question, he glanced at each person in turn. “Life will always put challenges in your path, therefore I feel that stagnation is more of a perception for someone that isn’t trying very hard to find something to do. So, my advice would be, open your eyes and look around you. Find a way to help, be it large or small. Once that’s done, find something else.”

Questions were asked of the table, and conversation continued to flow. Rakvald’s question about change was tackled by Eckman first, laughing a bit. “I’d like to be taller.” Rand considered the question a bit but followed up quickly with a serious look. “I wish I could relate to people a bit better. Sometimes when you focus on logistics and scenarios, you can lose touch of the people involved in such.” Nodding, he appeared satisfied with his answer. Ziell considered the question, and he too had a brief response. “What I wished for has already come to pass – the ability to change.”

It appeared that Rakvald was the only one that had a question for the table, catching Ziell off guard, but he continued his meal and quickly enough, focus turned back to Saoire.

Saoire's Realm

As the plates for the second course were cleared away, Saoire once again rose and spoke to them. Again, as she did, there was a small palate cleanser ~ this time in the form of a rice-spoon with a perfect quenelle of sorbet with a flavour which would please them. Looking around at them, she smiled once more. "It is a gift," she said, fairies chattering and twinkling around her. "To be able to celebrate the achievements of our friends and companions. So much was achieved, so much was given. It is fitting that we do so." The sky outside now was dark - it was night, no longer dusk - and there were stars shining in unison with them and their celebrations.

"There are so many ways to give, and all of you gave so much." There was no doubt of this in Saoire's mind. "But now, we will celebrate two who stood and gave more in the Forging than we truly could have hoped for. When the Induks were first imprisoned, there were six Forgings. The four we know of and, of course, Life Forged and Death Forged. We must give thanks to the two who stood in the Forging and took those roles. The Forging itself was painful and uncomfortable for all, but these two suffered in order to bring balance to Scalvoris, in order to free the Induks. They gave their own energy, their own strength - one in song and one in story." She smiled at Elisabeth and Arlo as she spoke.

"And, of course, we must remember that, arcs ago it was Arlo's willingness to sacrifice himself for others which freed the trapped souls. That action allowed one to stay behind," she gestured to Ledas, the tiger at Darius' side. "To guide you through the caves of Ishallr." She gestured then, to the two of them, first Elisabeth and then Arlo. "Please, accept our thanks for taking on the very difficult and painful role, for giving of yourselves and doing so with an unwavering commitment" She gestured for the two of them to stand. As they did, Cadouri brought them each a small gift box. They had no lids so inside the beautiful and delicate boxes they could see, nestled on some organza fabric, a chainstone. "From the Induks, and from us all,"

Then, she gestured around. "Please, join me in giving thanks to Elisabeth and Arlo for what they did." She lifted her hands and began to clap -- she was joined by all the Immortals and, again, there was rather that feeling that someone, somewhere, expected a speech from them both.

Ziell stood and spoke to the pair, individually. "Elisabeth," he said, addressing the woman first. "From the first steps of this, in the Glass Temple and even before, you showed a commitment to balance. Your actions were focused on others, sometimes even to your own detriment, and you did not allow yourself to fall, even when the attack was inside your very soul. Your courage is beyond words and you have my gratitude." Looking to Arlo, then, he spoke. "You willingly and unquestioningly sacrificed yourself to free others and, in that action, you set in motion the events which led to the freeing of the Induks. You gave up part of your soul, so that others may be free of their prison and you acted without thought for yourself. " His smile was one of pride as he addressed them both. "I am Ziell, Immortal of Prophecy, and I wish you both the happiest of futures."

Soon after, Ziell bade farewell to the table, offering final thoughts. “I must leave you now, but I’d like to leave each of you with a thought. Tell those you love what they mean to you, and of the light they bring you. Allow them to help you heal from any wounds life brings your way. Strive for peace and balance.” Gifting each a small smile, he inclined his head. “I thank each of you for your words of wisdom. I was honored to share this meal with you. I wish for all a pleasant evening.”

They wouldn’t have to wait long for their next guest, who seemed to be having the time of his life as Cassion walked up to the table, grinning at the group.

“Well, well, good evening to you all!” Taking a seat as their third courses were delivered – his being a hearty bowl of steak and potato soup – he glanced around to those at the table. “I’m Cassion, and I was there at the Forging with Xander, Praetorum and Eckman here. We had some fun, that.” Giving those three a mischievous smile, he moved on.

“I have a question I’d like you all to consider and give me your thoughts on. Everyone is asking these deep questions, but I think it’s time for something fun as we get to know each other better. There are many ways to travel and experience all that is around us. What is your personal favorite way to travel, and why?”

Tucking into his soup, he looked up again, grinning. "Oh! And if you have questions for me, happy to answer! Almost forgot that part. The table too! I've heard some amazing questions asked at other tables. I'm sure you lot can come up with something so we can learn a bit about each other.“

Second Course

Rakvald grinned at Xander, "Thanks! I hope I see her again too! Maybe soon!" Rakvald nodded his head to Ziell then, truly thankful for his answer. It was both wise and insightful, and Rakvald appreciated that he could've told him beyond a shadow of a doubt what would happen, but the idea that his young child still saw him every night was almost so poignant it made him start to cry.

As it was, he sniffled down the sadness, and ate what was on his plate.

Yet, as he ate, he nearly choked at what Praetorum said. That he was willing to butcher half the world, if they didn't submit to an Immortal Tyrant?! Of course he didn't say it in those words, but to Rakvald's mind that was what it would take... He wanted to respond, desperately, but then Ziell appeared to diffuse the tension of those statements. Yet he couldn't forget what he heard, and how it horrified him.

Between Courses:

So as the tribute to another of the heroes commenced, Rakvald intended to chase all memory of the horror of what Praetorum had said from his mind. He did it, by cheering as loudly and raucously as the applause came for the man with bedraggled hair and the black-haired chick. "Yeah!!! You did the thing! For sure! Woot!" He continued in such a way, but stoppe cheering sometime after the applause died down. He did clap a little longer than most of the room.

He was still bothered by what he'd heard from the Ithecal, but tried not to let it dampen his mood. He tasted the sorbet to cleanse his palate, which oddly enough tasted to his tongue like... escargot?! Snail sorbet, who'd have thought, yet it tasted good! He ate it down quickly.

Third Course:

"EEyyyy! Cassion, Cassion! Remember me? It's Rakvald. We met in Desnind." Rakvald smiled broadly as they were brought the third course. On it, was a breakfast of champions for Rakvald. Eggs, bacon, and toast. On the side, a bowl of turtle soup (which must've been mock turtle soup... because Saoire.). While he waited to see if Cassion remembered their time in Desnind, he dug into his food.

Eventually, once he cleared his plate, he perked up and looked at Cassion, "Hey, you know that chick with the tentacles we traveled with... well I ended up nailing her in the Karshe Inn! Hahah. I wonder what she's up to these days..."

"Say, Cass, you know the Crack in the Wall, when a bunch of dreamers were pulled into some strange fever dream... I come to find out that I ate Vri himself there! Do you think I should get some sort of reward for eating Vri? I mean, I was hungry, and he was in the form of a caterpillar. He tasted like sour apples. I figure I should get a medal or something for that! And for surviving to tell the tale!"

As for questions for the table, since nobody save perhaps Ziell had answered his last one, he kept it to himself. He'd already asked a handful of Cassion.

As he was licking his plate, some pig-shaped fairy with white wings flew around his head, trying to get in edgewise to taste what was left of his food. Rakvald growled, "Shoo! This is my food!"

To Cassion's question, Rakvald didn't even need to think about it. "I travel through Emea. Best way, most interesting natives, no contest."

Re: [Telka] Saoire's Heroes: The Water Table

Praetorum looked up as Xiur laid a hand on his shoulder, feeling the weight in his heart lift somewhat. Yes, he thought. There would be time to dwell on his mistakes later—tonight was a night of celebration, of hope. “Thank you,” he said softly as Xiur left them, a new appreciation for the immortal of hope swelling in his heart.

Second Course

Ziell’s answer to his question was both a relief and a disappointment. On one hand, Ziell’s words only confirmed what Prae already believed, that all encompassing peace could not come solely from peaceful actions. On the other hand, there had been some small, childish part of him hoping that the immortal of peace might have some perfect solution to the problem of strife in the world. Still, since he didn’t, Prae felt a little more confident in his convictions. Focused as he was on Ziell, Prae didn’t notice Rakvald’s horror at his question.

Moving on, Praetorum considered Rakvald’s question as it was asked. “I would like to be more measured in my actions. There are times when I act on impulse—” he grimaced slightly, remembering Elisabeth’s death “—and end up harming people I don’t mean to. I would change that about myself, if I could.”

Between Courses

Praetorum, naturally, stood and applauded with the others when Elisabeth and Arlo were honored. Arlo had impressed him with his thoughtfulness and skill, and Elisabeth… well. Elisabeth was Elisabeth to him. He’d never been prouder of her than in that moment.

Third Course

As a palate cleanser sorbet was placed in front of him—lemon and lime, sour and refreshing—a small human looking fairy drifted closer, eyeing the icy treat. Feeling indulgent, Prae spooned off a tiny piece, and offered it to the little creature.

The next immortal to join them was the Taleweaver himself. Praetorum offered the immortal a smile back, and considered his question. “With friends,” he said after a few moments of thought. “And by air. There’s nothing quite like flying through the air, feeling the wind in your face and seeing the landscape go by below you.”

As for his question to Cassion… he had two, one light, the other less so.

“Firstly, do you know who that ghost was that possessed Elisabeth, and what happened to her? I only know her name, and a scant few rumors about her."

He paused as his third dish, steamed fish in a dark sauce, was placed before him.

"Secondly, where do you think you will travel next?”

The next question he directed at the group. “What’s the most wondrous place you’ve been to on Idalos? Or places, if you can’t decide.”

Saoire's Realm

Once the tribute to Arlo and Elisabeth had finished, Saoire smiled around the room as the applause died down. "So far, we have celebrated those whose actions in the Heart of Scalvoris meant that things went so much better than we could have hoped," she said. Then, she gestured to the room. "And I want to be clear with everyone here. Whether you have seen the events via the vial, whether you were there to witness them or even if you have only the word of those who were there, there is an undeniable and absolute truth." Pausing, she breathed in and fairies danced around her. Stars twinkled above her, shining through the window, and for a moment there was silence.

"Each and every person, every individual who was there that trial, is a hero. We are here to celebrate you all and I must make it clear that you saved Scalvoris." With a smile, she watched the fairies as they flittered around. "And while we make note of specifics, of people's actions and deeds which tipped things further, you all saved Scalvoris, the Induks and, quite possibly, a lot more than that" Who knew what Audrae's machinations would have ended with, after all. "And so, to each of you were there in the Heart that trial, to each of you who gave so much, we have a gift for you"

The "we" Saoire referred to was evidently the Immortals, judging by her gesture. As she spoke, cadouri brought small gifts to each person who was there in the Forging that fateful trial. For each one of them it was the same thing. A small crystal-carved turtle with an emerald-encrusted shell and sapphire blue eyes. "One favour to each of you, from any one of us who was present," she said as the gifts were given. "We hope that it goes some way to showing you the depths of our gratitude."

Then, she raised a glass of what seemed to be pink fizzy wine, and spoke once more. "I propose a toast. To those who saved us, to The Forged!" Every waiter, every Immortal, all stood and toasted them.

The Water Table
Image

Before long, one of the cadouri servers swiftly came up to the table and informed Gennadiya that she was needed elsewhere, quickly leading the blond healer away from the table.

Cassion greeted everyone warmly, looking at Rakvald with an amused expression. “Did we now? I’m sure that was an interesting time. Perhaps you will tell me what you remember of that affair sometime. I’m always up for a good story.”

Eckman took up Cassion’s question first, considering his answer carefully. “From the air, certainly. Some would say that it’s hard to see anything from up high, but I say while that may be true, one can be alone with their thoughts without distraction, and see the bigger picture flying. It’s where I find a certain measure of peace.” Rand followed quickly behind, shrugging his shoulders a bit. “I’m not sure I have a favorite form of travel. I suppose it depends on what I’m wishing to see.”

Xander fell silent, no doubt curious as to where Gennadiya had been pulled off to, so Cassion moved on to the others. The fairies flitted about the table. The one near Praetorum smiled brightly as the Ithecal offered to share a bit of his sorbet, while the one visiting Rakvald frowned deeply at him before moving off.

Rakvald’s answer was one that wasn’t often heard, but Cassion could see the appeal. Emea did offer something of an adventure. “I find that the way one chooses to travel is very telling. As Rand so aptly put it, sometimes it depends on what one wishes to see. I’ve traveled the whole of Emea, and many, many other places. Every new place is the opportunity for new adventure, and your chosen method offers plenty of that."

The answer Praetorum gave was simple and thoughtful – much the same as Eckman’s. Both men enjoyed the skies and there was nothing wrong with it, but Praetorum had added in an additional bit about traveling with friends that brought a smile to the Immortal’s face. “Friends! Companions! Yes, this journey found you with old friends, and making new ones as well. Sometimes the manner of journey is secondary to the company you keep along the way. Well said, Sir!”

The conversation continued as they all ate, with Cassion addressing their questions.

Rakvald’s assorted ramblings, mixed with questions and wonderment, caused a bit of an eye quirk from the Immortal, followed by a serious look crossing his features. “A reward? You've done nothing worthy of one, other than be rude and demanding of attention. Improve your behavior for the remainder of the feast, lest your reward is a consequence you do not appreciate. A good piece of advice, I think, would be – know your audience.” Nodding sternly as he concluded, Cassion moved on to the question posed by Praetorum, which would prove to be a bit more challenging.

Setting down his fork, the Taleweaver glanced to the Ithecal, nodding. He understood the basis of the question, and why he was being asked it. “The ghost. Well, Isis is something of a curious matter, and interesting tale. Ghosts are tricky business. What I can tell you is that the answers you seek are there, on Ishallr, but telling you the tale would rob you of the chance to discover the story yourself, and it’s a good one.”

Sitting back in his chair, he considered Praetorum. "But what's the real story here? It's you wanting to understand your own characterization in this tale. Why did you choose to use magic then? Is she the damsel in distress you heroically save? What does that say about you and your opinions of yourself and her? Or was it an insistence that magic can be useful, no matter what others say? Why in that moment, why no discussion, all of those are the questions. Isis isn't the character in the story you want to understand. Praetorum is. Understand why you did what you did - why you believed in that moment where help had arrived and she was getting medical attention, that you needed to use magic then. What about that moment made you believe it was acceptable to risk the lives of everyone on the island. Would you have done the same in a different situation? What if it was a physical battle, for example. Understand the situation and your actions, and then in the next tale, you'll make your decision in knowledge, not ignorance." He grinned. "If it had been Arlo or Darius there, where Elisabeth was, would you have done the same? I think not, but only you can answer it. Every life on the island, Praetorum. It's worth a little self-reflection."

Giving the Ithecal a smile, he concluded with a thought. “Journeys can be healing, allowing one to sort their feelings.”

As to Praetorum’s second question, the Immortal smiled brightly. “The destination doesn’t matter. I want to revisit everywhere. With our ability to change, it will all be brand new and exciting! I will, however, admit that very soon, the journey to meet my new grandchild will top the list.”

The Ithecal’s question to the table was a worthy one, although the Immortal’s answer might end up a disappointment, but it was ever-so Cassion-worthy. "Well, wherever I happen to be is the most wondrous place, because every place is unique and full of its own unique tales!”

Saoire's Realm

As the staff collected the plates from the third course, Saoire once again rose and spoke to them. Again, as she did, there was a small palate cleanser ~ this time a small sphere which, when they ate it, exploded in their mouth with a very briefly intense flavour and the sensation of popping candy. Then, it was gone. Gazing around the room, Saoire beamed with obvious delight "One of the things which amazes me beyond explanation," she said as the stars seemed to twinkle in agreement with her "Is the bravery and resourcefulness of all of you."

"In terms of that bravery, that resourcefulness - and that willingness to go the extra mile, we have two people to give our thanks to." Her eyes moved around the room and then alighted on the first. "Woe Morandi, when all this began and you became aware, you stepped in to protect Egilrun. Your actions led to the protection of Egilrun, the strengthening of the Rangers and the Order of the Adunih. That you saved lives is without doubt and you did so not only without any quest for personal glory, but in a time when such action was both desperately needed and not your responsibility." She smiled at Woe and raised her hands to clap for him.

Applause for Woe echoed around the room and Saoire waited for it to die down, before speaking again. "Would you say a few words, Woe?"

After Woe had spoken, or declined to, Saoire spoke again. "Next is someone who went above and beyond in the greatest manner," she said and again, her smile was beaming. "There is no doubt that any endeavor requires logistics and management, but we all agree that in this there has been one individual who has exceeded our expectations above all others" Her gaze turned to the man in question. "Your actions, Doran, saved Scalvoris, there is no doubt. More than that, your analytical thinking and logical approach meant that every detail was adhered to. However, what amazed us was that you also managed to come up with solutions so elegant that they surprised the great Storyteller himself." As she said that, Cassion spoke. "Hear hear! That hasn't happened for many an arc!" Saoire smiled at Doran and spoke once more. "You saved us all. Thank you."

Then, she gestured around. "Please, join me in giving thanks to Doran," She lifted her hands and began to clap -- she was joined by all the Immortals and, again, there was rather that feeling that someone, somewhere, expected a speech from them both. then Cassion shouted once more. "Speech! "

And both of them were given gifts, also. For Woe it was an exquisite glass coin which was icy cold on one side, warm on the other. For Doran, it was a plain platinum ring.

Waiting for his turn, Cassion was almost bursting at the seems to speak about both the honored. “Doran, it’s a rare, rare thing that catches me off guard, but your mind is something of a wonder. So many things were tossed at you, rapidly changing situations and new wrinkles. Great for stories, but in the moment, serious challenges. You rose to the occasion with calm and resolve, saving us at a few critical moments when things could easily have fallen apart.”

Turning to Woe, he gave a bit of a smile “For you, my well-named friend, your journey was one of unique challenges and decisions. Egilrun needed a protector and without knowing the entirety of the story, you stepped up. You acted and didn’t think about anyone other than the people. The world needs people like that. You stuck to what you believe and didn’t allow yourself to be persuaded otherwise.”

Soon enough, it was time for Cassion to depart, offering up one last piece of wisdom with the table. “Journeys allow us to find ourselves in moments when, perhaps, we find ourselves a bit lost. I highly recommend getting lost in a journey – often. Safe travels to you all.”

Next, they were joined by the Lady of the Light – Qylios herself, who smiled at the entire table. “Good evening. To those of you that are unaware, my name is Qylios, and I have the deep honor of sharing this course with you.”

Before sitting, however, she had something else she needed to say, glancing between Xander and Praetorum, expression sincere. “I owe you both my deepest thanks. You stood in between me and others, beacons of light in a moment of darkness. Words cannot begin to express my gratitude for what you did in that moment, but hopefully I will find a way to let you know how much your actions meant to me, and everyone.”

Sitting, the table’s fourth courses were served. Before moving on with things, she had a bit of news for everyone. “I know there are many that are curious about what lies in Joy’s future. I’m happy to say that Joy’s life will be full of love and laughter, with her new parents.” Motioning over to the Earth table nearby, anyone interested would clearly see Joy sitting happily with Vega and Arlo.

“All those present at the Forging are to be given a choice to be involved in Joy’s life – to forge a relationship with her. Echo scrolls will be provided to those that wish this connection, to allow for ease of communication with Vega and Arlo for arrangement and information purposes.” Glancing at Xander, Praetorum and Eckman, the Immortal smiled, pulling echo scrolls out of thin air. “The choice is yours.”

That said, the people present at the table would hear the same as they had before from the other Immortals. “I have a question for all of you, and I offer in return to answer a few of your questions, should you have them. Perhaps a few queries for the table as well?”

Tucking into her plate – a large, flaky bowl of what appeared to be chicken pot pie – she waited a beat before revealing her question. “Do you personally believe courage to be important, and why or why not?”

"What, you don't remember?" Rakvald quirked a hairless brow, his fanged mouth agape at Cassion. "Remember, you shoved a fuckin... Nevermind." Rakvald was annoyed that Cassion didn't seem to remember him, or anything about what they'd done together. Apparently, some stories were more memorable than others.

Not only that, when Rakvald tried to talk to him, Cassion scolded him. Scolded him! Rakvald thought Cassion was a bro, but it turned out he was a real asshole. "Wow." Rakvald muttered, then sank into his seat as everyone paid attention to the Immortal chick running this party again. Rakvald didn't know about anyone else, but he was getting tired of getting on his feet every time someone mortality-challenged spoke up.

Which they did again shortly before Cassion departed their table.

Rakvald remained seated while they toasted two other guys at the other end of the hall. The mage just poked at his food and sipped his drink, wishing it was alcoholic. As they toasted the two guys, Rakvald snorted, and thought, "Pfft, like I'd toast some sadsack and a nerd. What a farce." He just picked at his food and drink, as the toast was had.

Shortly after, Cassion departed in a haze of some hot air. Rakvald shrugged off his departure, suddenly with less enthusiasm for dining among the Immortals. But then, another one joined them. Some lady that was too tall, and with golden hair and shiny aura. Rakvald didn't even bother to try any of the candy or food. He just glanced upward and grunted an acknowledgment.

When at last, she asked if courage was important, and why. Rakvald felt obliged to answer, "Will power is important. Can't do anything worthwhile without the will." He thought he answered her question adequately enough, and so had a request in return, "Eh, send me somewhere I can get drunk uh? Rharne sounds good about now. Would you do that for me, Miss Immortal Chick?"

Re: [Telka] Saoire's Heroes: The Water Table

Image

Xander had been distracted by Gennadiya's unexpected departure from the table and due to that had missed most of what had taken place while Cassion was at the table. His mind having drifted elsewhere had he wondered what could have been the cause of her needing to take leave from the table. He hoped it was nothing bad. His mind had immediately gone to the girls although he doubted she alone would have been taken from the table if it was the girls they had left with Genna's father that needed them. The nobleman was a little disappointed that he had let himself become so distracted as to miss pretty much all of Cassions time at their table but with a concerted effort he was able to bring his attention back to the events around the room.

Xander graciously accepted the small crystal turtle that was given to him by Cadouri after the statement of Saoire and smiled as he examined its delicate looking structure. He was sure it was far more sturdy than it looked but still the intricately cut crystal indicated the time that a craftsman would have to spend to cut the stones into shape. It must have been worth a small fortune he reckoned and if Xander were a man worse off he was sure he'd have considered selling the item. But as it was he and his family were in a stable enough place financially that he did not need worry too greatly about that and would instead treasure the gift for as long as he could.

More important figures from the events that transpired were given gifts as thanks for their involvement and as he had for every single other Xander clapped and celebrated the actions of anyone who had been deemed worthy of mention. In this case it was Woe and Doran and Xander was glad to see they were recieving recognition for what they had done and the great difference their actions had made in all this. Xander still remembered when Doran had taught him how to use his longsword more effectively and he marvelled at how far they had both come since then how different they both must be and he wondered whether Doran even remembered that brief meeting they'd had.

Finally Cassion bid them fairwell and they were joined by the next immortal. Xander felt a small lump form in his throat as he saw Qylios sit down at their table, there was a sudden anxiety that tried to take hold of him. IT was only natural that he should feel something akin to nerves when he saw her after the revelations that had been made in recent times as to her true relationship to him, to the fact that she was his Mother. It had also occured to him after he discovered that, that it meant Joy was his half-niece. There were many things that Xander wished to ask Qylios many things he wanted to know but he supposed that the table they sat at now was not the right place for that, perhaps he might find a better time later in that evening to speak with her, should the event leave enough time for him to do so. There were many things he still did not understand and many issues that came from his heritage that concerned him.

Forcing his voice past the lump in his throat he answered to the offer of the scroll. "I would be honoured to recieve a scroll to communicate with Joy and beyond that she will always have a place at my table and a bed in my home should she need it, if I can be part of her future I will and one day I hope perhaps she can meet my own children they are afterall family and my girls don't have much of that left." The nobleman would have let Joy live with him had it been required but he supposed she would be better off with Arlo and Vega, they would have more time for her and he was sure they could keep her safe and give her a wonderful life.

Then he answered Qylios' question after Rakvald. "I believe courage is important for as long as it does not cause someone to act foolishly, it is all well and good to be courages and brave but if you act purely on that you may find that the outcomes are more detrimental than they are positive." Xander had acted on all sorts of emotions and beliefs, he had acted on courage, fear, anger and on his intellect at different times and he had experience with how they all affected the clarity of his decision making and the potential of the outcomes. "But yes courage has served me well more times than it has not and I believe it to be crucial in certain situations such as time of great peril and war."

"I have no questions for you at this table Qylios, however, I would ask that we maybe talk alone tonight or any other night hence forth, there is much that I wish to ask you and much that I want your help to understand, I do not wish to take up time here at the table that others may wish to ask questions in and so I have only that request that we do talk when we may." His eyes were heavy with emotion and curiosity as he was sure that the immortal would understand that discovering you were half immortal left a lot of question to be answered, especially after he had lived his life thinking he was like any other mortal around him, thinking that he would one day grow old and die and yet now he knew that may not be the case and what that meant for his future, for his family, he did not know.

Re: [Telka] Saoire's Heroes: The Water Table

Saoire's Realm

It was obviously coming towards the end of the evening, and they had celebrated and thanked a lot of people, rightly so as far as Saoire was concerned. But there was more still to do and so she once again stepped up to the cleared area to speak. "It has been a wonderful evening and I hope that you have all enjoyed yourselves," she said with a smile. "But we are not yet done. There is wonderful food still to eat and people to thank." She looked around the room with pleasure and delight in her eyes.

"The next two people are being thanked for their leadership," she smiled as she spoke that. "And first, of course, we must thank the Alberach of Scalvoris, Kura. Your determination in your role and commitment to keeping Scalvoris safe has, literally, saved the island on more than one occassion." Kura's role as the Alberach was well known - as was her "get in there" attitude to helping in a crisis. "For the arcs of service to Scalvoris, we give you thanks"

Each Immortal stood and clapped for the Alberach, with Saoire leading them. "You deserve all the thanks we have and I want you to know that your efforts are appreciated" As she spoke, a platypus cadouri brought Kura a gift. It was boxed and wrapped and seemed to be a book of some kind. "It is very much our hope that you will enjoy this gift, and that it goes some way to showing you how deeply grateful we are."

Again, she raised her glass. "The Alberach.!"

The Water Table

Cassion had offered Rakvald no additional attention during his stay at the table, chatting with the others and seemingly oblivious to the sulking. Of course, Cassion was never truly unaware, but he played the part well, he did.

Qylios joined them, giving Xander a smile, understanding what he must be feeling within and respecting that. She was, however, extremely pleased at his answer to the query of the scrolls. “Your answer, Xander, makes me very happy. I know that Vega and Arlo wish for Joy to have a wide family, and I know that those of you with existing bonds to Joy will be wholly welcome. I’m sure they will be thrilled at your devotion to family. Thank you.”

Things progressed and Qylios had offered up a question to the table, which two chose to reply to.

Rakvald’s answer was interesting, deflecting to the trait of will-power. “I agree that they are related, will power and courage. Courage is the characteristic of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, or pain and will power is one’s persistence towards a difficult goal in spite of obstacles. It is perhaps wise to recognize how they influence one another.” Nodded her head in thanks to him for his answer, she turned her attention to her son.

He brought a thought forth that she often considered herself. “Some have asked me in the past what the difference between courage and recklessness was, considering that when you break it down, both have the same outward appearance. My answer to them was that courage is equal to bravery. The act of being courageous is a quality that people have regardless of the risks they may encounter. Recklessness, in my opinion, is a risky act taken by someone without prior thinking or calculating the consequences. What separated them is awareness, I think.”

The conversation continued, Rand and Eckman joining in with their answers and a few questions of their own. When things came back around to Rakvald, Qylios glanced at him, raising her hand. “Done.” With a snap of her fingers, Rakvald would find himself in the middle of Rharne with that which he had arrived in Telka with – nothing more, nothing less.

Xander’s request brought another smile to her face, nodding as he spoke. “Yes, of course. I apologize for not offering such a conversation before now. It is something that deserves a devoted discussion, you are right. We will make time – soon.”

Saoire’s voice broke in, honoring Kura for her leadership. Qylios stood, raising a glass to the Albarech and then waiting her turn to speak before offering her own words. “ To lead others through troubling times takes a steady hand and the ability to cut through the clutter and see things for what they are. You were gifted people – good people – to help you, yet it’s not enough to simply have that. One needs to know how to utilize them and put them in the best position to succeed. In the Glass Temple, you took charge and acted. Each victory you felt, as well as each stumble. Your leadership is a gift to Scalvoris. To the Albarech!”

Saoire's Realm

As the staff collected the plates from the fourth course, Saoire rose again. "And now, a celebration of another type of leadership," she said . "That of leading by action. By deed. " Her gaze swept around the room until she saw the man she was speaking of - and to.

"Oram Mednix stood in the Heart of Scalvoris and he refused to give up. He walked to a shattered altar and he began to rebuild. In the face of destruction," she seemed to be speaking directly to Oram, even though she was speaking about him. Her voice carried around the room and the pride in it was obvious. "In the face of destruction you rebuilt. You would not give in. And in that act and with that action, you epitomized everything that the Forged stands for." It was an important and serious point for her and she knew that she was not the only one who felt it.. "You are an example to us all, and we are beyond grateful to you, and for you."

Again, there was applause. Cassion let out a whooping cheer for Oram and Saoire smiled. "I hope this gift brings you peace and pleasure" And indeed, Oram was brought a small gift in a box. It, too, seemed to be a book of some kind.

The Water Table

Saoire spoke again, this time of Oram. Qylios once again lifted her glass, eager to have her say in things, but waiting for the appropriate time to do so. “True leaders empower others. In Sweetwine, you stayed with your companions, each of them, and helped them through their trials. In the Heart of Scalvoris, your rebellious act against destruction showed the path for others. Each step along the way, you’ve shown your understanding of leadership, and that it’s not loud, but subtle. And you’ve done that by simply being the person you are. Scalvoris is all the better for you being here, and we thank you.”

Qylios stayed standing after the toast to Oram, smiling at those gathered around the table. “My time with you has come to an end, but it was an honor and pleasure to share this time with you. Be well all and enjoy the rest of your evening.” Laying a gentle hand on Xander’s shoulder, the Immortal gave it a soft squeeze before departing.

The final course was being served as their last table-mate arrived – Daia. Her warm smile reached around the table, greeting those before her. "Good evening all! I’m Daia, and I’m incredibly honored to be sharing this final round of food with you."

At the Fire Table, Qylios stood in her place. All eyes turned to her. "I am Qylios," she said with a smile. "And it is my honour and privilege to be here this evening. We have paid tribute to many, rightly so. But we have saved the final tribute until now, and it is mine to make." She looked around the room and her expression was serious, intense. "There is one here tonight, without whom there would have been enormous bloodshed. More than that, without his actions I would have been put in an impossible situation of my own foolish making." She was not too proud to admit that she knew that. "Without this man, the Warden and Audrae would have been able to attack, to harm, to carry out their plans and he bought us what we needed at enormous personal cost," she gestured to him, sitting at her table. "I ask you all to give thanks and show your appreciation for a man whose dedication to peace is as great as his determination to act. Thank you, Hart, for your actions. Thank you for saving my grand-daughter, and for saving me."

Before they could get any further, however, Qylios' voice rose from the Fire Table and the final tribute came. Others had their say, and then Daia's graceful voice filled the room. “When someone gives of themselves so selflessly, it touches lives." Glancing to the Fire Table, lifting her glass to Hart. “Every trial, you touch another life. You protect others in a way that is uniquely you own, and you ask nothing in return. Scalvoris owes you everything for the sacrifice you made, giving us precious time that saved so many lives. It is a debt that can never be repaid, but my hope is that we can try… by allowing you what you so deeply wish – quiet time to enjoy your family and those that care about you. Thank you.”

Finally taking her seat, just as a small bowl of honeyed fruit was placed before her, she again smiled to the table. “Now, where were we? Oh yes, a question. I have a question for you all and would be delighted to hear your answers.” Taking a small berry, popping it into her mouth, the Immortal waited a beat before continuing. “Tonight is a celebration. Through this event, there were victories, and stumbles, but everyone grew and learned, and is better for it. So, I’d like to hear about, from each of you, what are you the proudest of about yourself in life? What is the thing you look at and say ‘I did that,” and it fills you with satisfaction.”

Smiling, she waved her hand gently. They knew how things went. “Of course, I’m happy to answer any questions you may have for me, if I can.”

Re: [Telka] Saoire's Heroes: The Water Table

Fourth Course
It didn’t surprise Prae much that Cassion declined to tell him the tale of Isis in full. What did surprise him, though, was the Taleweaver’s next words.

It might have sounded like a reprimand, coming from anyone else, but Cassion had a way of making it sound like a lesson. Why had Prae acted as he did?

The question wouldn’t leave Prae’s mind, and he found himself shamefully distracted for the entirety of Qylios’ visit to their table, though he did have the presence of mind to nod and smile at her thanks.

When the option to forge a relationship with Joy was offered, though, Praetorum hesitated, before leaving the offered scroll where it was.

He had a bad track record with family. And he did not want to bring down his bad luck on the girl now that she had a new chance at life.

Between Courses
When the time came to pay tribute to Oram and Kura, Praetorum applauded with the others, drawing himself out of his thoughts. They had both of them been impressive in their strength of character, and Prae would acknowledge that happily.

Fifth Course
Nodding at Daia’s arrival, Prae resolved to focus again. The evening was almost over, but that was no excuse to be rude. He considered Daia’s question seriously when it was asked, searching back through his life to find an answer that satisfied him. Too often in his life, he found failure after failure to help others. Yet other times…

“Every time I can save someone, I feel like I can finally be proud of myself. A shipwreck in Yaralon, mages in Melrath, civilians in Rharne. When someone lives because I stepped in, that’s what gives me satisfaction.”

As for his question for her, Praetorum hesitated only a moment before asking. “What will you do, now that you can change? How would you even begin trying to be the person you want to be?”

Re: [Telka] Saoire's Heroes: The Water Table

Image

Telka
Saoire's Realm

Saoire smiled to those assembled. There was one more person to honor, and she was very happy because it was right to do so.

"Throughout these events, there was one whose impact was felt keenly by many. Her actions and deeds were a start, many arc ago, and what happened then touched many of the people that we honor here tonight. From the shores of Faldrass, where visions of her and said events were seen, to the Heart of Scalvoris, where her ability with children was channeled, woven into the grand story that was able to be masterfully created, she may not have been physically with us, but Vega Creede’s spirit and determination were with all of us, and now, a gift.”

Turning to Vega, Saoire held out a small glittering orb to Vega. The fairies within the room descended upon Saiore, Vega and the orb. As Vega placed her hands on the orb, she would feel an energy surge through her. It was gentle, as though music was flowing within, notes playing within her mind. The fairies began to glow, and the whole room suddenly heard the beautiful melody.

"“We thank you, Vega Creede – Song Forged!"

And finally, as Vega returned to her seat, the feast in Saoire's realm was done. The last of the food was eaten and, as the waiting staff cleared away the plates, Saoire spoke for the final time. "I'd like to give my personal thanks," the Immortal said "to the waiters and the chefs and all those who made this evening so very wonderful. Thank you" She led the room in the last round of applause for the night.

Then, with music playing and fairies fluttering, Saoire looked around at them - each one of them. "I hope that your evening has been filled with happiness and that you carry some of that with you, into the future. It is a brighter future we all step to, because of the actions of those we've celebrated today and I thank you for sharing the evening with us." Then, she gestured. "Please, feel free to stay and mingle if you choose. For those who are returning home, you just need to go out to the turtle bay, and you'll be sent back. Those who are staying the night, I hope you are comfortable."

Then, she bowed her head and bade them farewell.

The Water Table

The table had rapidly emptied, with the departures of Gennadiya and Rakvald. Xander had grown quiet again so, for the moment, Daia and Praetorum were able to talk rather directly. A question had been asked by the Immortal and he had thought enough of it to respond.

She gazed at him as he responded, sitting back in her chair a bit as she enjoyed her dessert, nodding. “Those are wonderful things, indeed. I think, if I could suggest something? This is going a bit beyond your answer, so bear with me. Your life has been…uneven. You’ve suffered, but you’ve also known light and goodness. Try celebrating the little things too. The small victories and happiness that happen every trial. It is my hope that they will allow you to begin to see the light all around you. You struggle with certain things, absolutely. I think everyone does, but I think once you focus on the light, you’ll be amazing at how much good is around you.”

Smiling softly, she followed up with one more thought. “Oh, by the way, family is what you make of it, and who, dear one.”

His question was a good one, and to which she smiled. “I think it’s important to have some inner-reflection, and not rush to do so. Just because we can, doesn’t mean we should hurry to do it. It’s something of a dance, change. I would like to think that I will go into it with a clear mind and joyous heart and allow change to happen organically. We are each driven by the paths we travel, or at least that’s what Cassion keeps telling me. I’ll allow my path to take me where it will, and listen to what it says.”

Rakvald

Overview

Well, Rakvald is unapologetic and authentically himself. This was my first real experience with him and it did not disappoint! You held true to his character and offered up some conflict for the otherwise quiet and serene table. I appreciate the differences in all your individual characters and Rakvald is brilliantly written, even if he's a weird kinda dude. Thank you and enjoy your rewards!

Praetorum is layers upon layers...and then more layers. He cares so much about others, but always seemingly is holding them at arm's length. It's understandable and heartbreaking, but I feel he's turning a corner and I'm happy about that! He always has insightful things to say, and is endlessly curious. You write him with such a light touch, so calm on the exterior but a torrent of everything underneath. Simply beautiful. Enjoy your rewards and thank you!

This bracelet works with any shield (including those granted by Taithir) and allows Prae to strengthen his shield. Twice a cycle, he can activate the bracelet and it wraps around Prae's shield, affording protection against all but revealed-level magic and making whatever shield he is carrying to be at least equivalent of a masterwork level item, or boosting the strength of it, if his shield was already masterwork.
  • Culinary Master! – For describing two or more courses of dinner! – Health Pack! Two times a season, this small box will produce enough emergency rations for up to four people for one trial. This will appear in the form of nutrition bars and clean water. The rations can be split further but this will lower the effectiveness of the rations.
  • Group Synergy! – For asking two or more group questions! – Saoire’s Sweets - A small box of your favorite chocolates / candies (10 total). You find yourself unable to eat more than 1 on any trial. But each one provides the following to whoever eats it for the next 6 hours: "Saoire's domain of Gifts is not merely one of physical goods, but of the happiness and joy that comes with both giving and receiving a well-meant gift. This ability allows the Blessed to give both themselves and anyone they're with a feeling of joy and good cheer, banishing negative feelings like sorrow, anger, and fear."
  • Oh, Memories! – You accepted and drank the vial containing memories of the Forging. That is the threads on Ishallr, Scaltoth & Sweetwine, and in the Glass Temple - then the Forging itself. You will see PC actions, but not know PC thoughts / motivations/ feelings etc.
  • NPC trinkets – Please accept these humble offerings from Saoire for your NPCs, with our thanks for being part of this wonderfully uplifting thread! All gifts as described by you in this thread are now the property of the NPCs. (if applicable)

Gennadiya

Overview

I'm sorry Genna had to leave early and we didn't get to hear more of her thoughts. Genna is always beautifully written, very purposeful with what she says. It was especially delightful to see her with Xander, exploring a bit more of what that relationship looks like in a social setting like the Feast! Hope we see you back soon - enjoy the rewards!

Loot

  • 1 Masterwork Outfit as you've described.
  • 1 Crystal Sculpture from your little boxes. While not magical, there is something very lovely about these and they just have a bit of a 'feel good' about them.

Xander

Overview

Xander is such a quiet force. He's always thinking and trying to figure out his place in things. I enjoyed that aspect of him greatly, and he's wonderfully written. He's always looking out for other people and I think that is part of what makes him so compelling. I hope you enjoy the rewards - thank you!
