An Unbreakable Bond

92nd Ashan 718
She'd bought a new dress, a full outfit and they'd come back to the Wanderlust the night before. A break or so ago, Arlo had gone to check on his stepfather, Jonas and the two of them were going to get ready together; Vega had told him to take his time, she wanted some space to get ready. Besides, there was the tradition of the men-folk sharing a drink together and it being unlucky for any of the women to know. Everyone did know, she told him, but no one spoke about it. She was quicker at getting herself to the point of thinking she was ready to step outside than she had been that first time, she thought and she smiled as she looked at the mirror. It wasn't her she was smiling at, though, it was him. Back in through the door, bursting in like a whirlwind as always, Vega's eyes met his in the mirror and she felt so much more than she could say. She was wearing a long red dress with a lower neckline than she normally wore and small details of lace on it. It was pulled in tight at the waist and she'd bought underwear to make sure that her curves, such as they were, were emphasised to the fullest. Her hair was piled up and a decorative comb nestled back there, glittering slightly.

"No brace. I can move the way they said I have to, for it to come off," the last time she'd worn make up had been the date they'd shared at Cally's, but she was wearing it now. "An' I have been able to for three trials. So it's not a fluke, an' yes I'm sure." Turning to look at him, she smiled. "You look good enough to stay here with all trial long. An' tomorrow, too." She walked to him and her eyes told the depth of her emotions. "No brace. Jus' these," lifting her skirt, just a little, she revealed high heeled shoes and silk stockings. "It doesn't hurt, Arlo. Nowhere hurts." It had been so long since she'd been able to say that, she wasn't sure why she hadn't said it constantly before that night in Cylus.

Placing her hands in his, Vega looked up at him and touched her nose to his. "I love you. Thanks for savin' my life." The mark of Nalos, her "holy freckle" as she called it, glowed brightly and there were many more than one freckle there now. "When all I felt was pain, you were there with your arms around me, pickin' me up and gettin' me out of there. An' then, you.." she stopped and shook her head, her eyes glistening with emotion. "you know what, Arlo Creede? I love you is enough. Stop goin' on about it." Her smile was soft and she squeezed his hands. "I bought you a present. I was gonna make up a tradition about it that if someone buys you a gift on someone else's weddin' trial, but then I couldn't think of the what if that didn't impact me, too.." Her grin was wicked as she tugged him over to their bed. "I bought you this, but I don't think it's gonna fit you, so I'll wear it," the item in question was a nightgown of black satin and lace with a ribbon detail. It was unlikely that she'd bought it to keep her warm. But then she leaned down and pulled a box from under the bed. "That's for you."

In the box was a shortbow, made for him to his specification exactly. It didn't look fancy, there was no scrollwork or carving or any such fussy thing, but it was beautiful. She watched him, gauging his reaction and she smiled in pleasure when she saw his face. Of course, she'd been quite happy at his reaction to what she was currently wearing and the nightgown too. But this was something else, "For all the adventures we've yet to have, Arlo Creede. Side by side. So. Wanna go watch people ruin their lives?"

It had taken Arlo a quarter of the time, or less, than it took Vega to get ready for the wedding. So he'd done it before he'd headed off to the farm to see after Jonas. He hadn't expected his stepfather to be nervous, however, about meeting Vega's family. And Jonas didn't surprise him a bit. He didn't do nervous. It had taken some doing to convince the older man that the event wasn't just a handy excuse to unload the last two of his pups under the guise of a wedding gift. His stepfather wasn't fooling anyone. Arlo had spotted the ribbons on those pups as soon as he'd walked up the path to the house. Luckily Jonas had other gifts to bring and was close to being ready to head out.

So they'd walked back to the harbor together and when they got back on board, Arlo introduced his stepfather around before leaving him with Jo'qan at the rail. And then he'd returned to the cabin where he was sure he'd find Vega either ready, or not quite yet. "Wow," he uttered, before their eyes even met in the mirror. Vega was always a sight to behold, in his eyes. He'd always thought she was beautiful, even when he'd never have told her that and he'd teased her about her elbows and knees and her freckles. Now, like this, she was a sight to behold. "Are you sure?" he asked when she lifted her skirts and showed him that the braces were gone. And the shoes. Of course she was sure though, and he knew that.

"You look beautiful," he said, and it was an understatement. And he would have protested, all the things she said, what he'd done for her. But before he could, she stopped herself and he grinned. "I love you," he said but then frowned curiously when she said she'd bought him a present? "What for?" But when she showed him, he eyed the small bits of cloth that she held up and he grinned again. "That's one heck of a present. Careful now or we'll miss the wedding." But that wasn't all of course. The bow? That wasn't just a weapon, it was a work of art in its own right. All the more for the simplicity of the design.

"You shouldn't have done it," he said, admiring the bow as he held it in his hands. Perfect weight, perfectly balanced. "Thank you Vega. It's the finest weapon I've ever owned." Leaning forward, he kissed her then drew back and smiled while he reached into his pocket. "Just a bit or three longer. I've got something for you too." He drew out a dark velvet pouch and undoing the draw chord, he poured the contents into her outstretched hand. It ought look familiar to her. It was the bracelet that he'd given her once already, that had been lost in the fire. "The leather had been burned up of course, but it was Huw that had gone to the ruins and happened across the stones," he told her. They'd been all in one place together, almost invisible because of the soot.

They'd been filthy and coated with soot, so Arlo had taken his time, cleaning, polishing them. And then he'd set them in a new band that was nearly identical to the one they'd been set in before. The only minor difference was the clasp, in order to make it easier for her to put the thing on, or take it off without help. But in this case? If she'd let him, he'd put it on her wrist himself.

An Unbreakable Bond

One of the things that she had hated, truly despised about the trials since her death had been how weak she felt. Vulnerable and lacking in confidence; a commodity she usually had in droves. It was not something which sat well with her, that vulnerability and yet, as her eyes lit in bright gold, flecked through with vivid green, Vega realised that she was helpless in the face of one word from him. And somehow, that was perfectly acceptable to her.

Wow, he said and the delight which Vega felt ran down to her toes in that moment. The colours in her eyes swirled together, even though the shades remained the same and she had no words which did any of what she felt justice. So, she said nothing, simply looked at him and smiled, unable to turn away or do anything other than step next to him. He asked if she was sure, though, about losing the brace and Vega nodded. "I am. It's time to jus' let it all go now, Arlo. It's jus' extra weight an' neither one of us needs it." She chuckled slightly, though. "Though I'd 'ave been happier if you'd noticed the silk stockin's you know. That was what I was really showin' you."

Vega never knew what to say when he told her she was beautiful. Thanks, but you're wrong seemed ungrateful, really. The simple truth of it, though, was something she realised as she said it. "I'm right glad you think so. I feel beautiful, when you look at me, an' no one's ever made me feel that before." What had she bought him a present for? Vega grinned and shrugged. "I dunno. I felt like." Wasn't that reason enough, she teased him, that she should feel the whim to do something and then do it? She thought so. His warning, though, concern that they'd miss the wedding caused a chuckle. "No we won't. But we migh' leave the party after early, aye?" She was shameless when it came to him, Vega considered, she really was.

His face as he looked at the bow caused relief to flow in her veins and Vega grinned. "Jog on, you. When have I ever listened to what others tell me I should or shouldn't do?" Leaning into him, her kiss was much more gentle than her words. But the finest weapon he'd ever owned? She shook her head. "That's yer brain, that is. Or your heart. Mebbe the hat, come to think of't an' that sword from U'frek's pretty nice, innit? I mean. Jus' sayin'." She was tormenting him, there was no doubt and she turned to go but he said to wait. He had something for her? Vega turned back to him and frowned. "What? Why? You don't need to .. what's this? Oh!" The exclamation was a gasp from her and her free hand flew to her mouth. "I.. Arlo it... it's.." Tears sprang to her eyes as she realised what it was. "How did you..?"

She was physically trembling with emotion when she held out her hand and watched as he did it up, fastening it on. There were maybe a hundred colours in her eyes as she took a moment to breathe, looking at it there on her wrist. Suddenly, she moved, pulling herself against him and her hand burying in his hair as she kissed him with all the feelings welling inside her. "I'd been thinkin'," she whispered, "About askin' you to get me another, but I knew it jus' wouldn't be the same. I've been so afraid, Arlo," there were tears in her shifting eyes, but they weren't anything except positive reactions to overwhelming delight. There was literally no one else alive that Vega would admit fear to, not like this. "So afraid that I'd left a bit of m'self behind there, you know? A bit that no matter how hard I fought, I couldn't find again." It wouldn't stop her fighting, she assured him. Wouldn't have meant she'd give up. Still. "An' then, jus' lately, I've been realisin' that I'm whole an' the only thing what got left behind was this, an' I was angry for loosin' it because I love it. What it means. What it represents. Represented, before now" She shook her head, a smile lighting her face. "Now? Now it means there's no part of me there no more. Can we dance tonight? Up on deck, will you dance with me?" It was time they did, after all.

It was funny, Arlo had thought more than once since Vega had been hurt, how very differently two people, no matter how close they were, could view the very same situation. He'd never seen her as weak or broken after what had happened. Only temporarily off her feet and knocked around, but not broken, and never weak. To endure what she had, to get through it in the way that she had, reminded him of how very strong she was. Stronger than anyone he'd ever known in fact, and he'd been awed by it. Even more so to see her standing now in front of him, dressed up and wanting to dance.

"You think I didn't notice the stockings?" he teased her when she complained, and he slipped his arms round her waist. "It was the legs, and my mind entertaining images about how i'd peel those things off later." He wouldn't be a follower fit to be blessed by Cassion, after all, if he'd failed to notice. "There isn't a man alive who can look at you and not see you're beautiful," he scolded her gently. 'I'm the lucky one that gets to see past all the dressing, past the freckles and the lot of it. And there's more beauty still beneath the surface." Even the prickly bits, to him, were beautiful, and they'd definitely be leaving the party early.

There was more than needed saying though, because it was important. "It shouldn't be just because of me. You deserve to feel beautiful every trial, because it's true and what you are." AS for the bow? His assessment stood firm. "The sword is a good one I'll admit. But U'frek gave it to me because I went on a quest for him, I played the game for him. It was a reward. This bow though, it came from the heart and the sword pales in comparison." As for the bracelet? He'd known how important it was to her. If not for the sentimental value, he'd have just purchased more stones and it might have been enough. It hadn't been though.

"The only thing of you left back there," he told her as he put the clasp into place, "is in the memory of those who were there, who got to witness how strong and fierce you are." As for the stones, he told her that it was Huw that had been responsible for returning the things. "I looked," he said. "and couldn't find them. I didn't know that Huw had been there too, and it was him that found them and brought them back." Arlo was grateful to her cousin for that. She'd notice that on the backside of the larger stone, if she looked close, had a tiny dark spot. Arlo had cleaned them up and polished them best he could. But they'd been exposed to a lot of heat. Otherwise the stones were perfect, but that pinpoint bit of dark might be a reminder of just how much they'd endure, but come through stronger and whole again.

So, they should go up on deck before others started wondering, and Arlo stepped back, offering his arm. She was going to outshine the brides both in beauty and wit, and he couldn't be prouder. There were any number of things going on when they got there. Even the kittens had gotten in on the act and were darting about, batting at the trailing fabric on fancy gowns. And there was Jonas at the rail, speaking with Jo'qan. But leaving it to Vega to decide where to go, nonetheless Arlo whispered in her ear. "You know, on the way here Pops was talking about what you said about him joining us...even selling his farm to a neighbor that wants to expand." It had come as a surprise to Arlo, that revelation, and made him think that maybe he didn't know Jonas as well as he'd thought he had. But he'd be pleased in fact, should his stepfather decide to join them on the sea.

When he assured her that he very much had noticed the stockings, Vega grinned. "Well, that's alright then," she murmured against him. He spoke about what he saw in her and Vega shook her head. "Past the freckles? You know, I realised somethin'," yes, she very much had but equally moving away from him calling her beautiful would be just fine. "You remember I said about my freckles bein' a dot to dot? Well. Not only 'ave I come to the conclusion that I'm not growin' out of the damn things, but Arlo, look. Join up my glowin' freckles an' it's like, I dunno, somethin' with wings? A bird or something?" The dress she wore had a lower neckline than she usually wore so her holy freckles (as she called them) were visible. She'd seen that their number were growing, multiplying and no doubt so had he. But she hadn't made the connection before just now, when she was getting dressed. "I think they're like stars. A constellation." Which made sense, of course, considering it was the Immortal of Stars who'd put the first one there.

But no, it wasn't stopping him. Arlo was insistent, persistent and very, very sure of the point he was making. "I'm happier in my skin than I've ever been, Arlo Creede, an' that's enough for me. Besides, I don't care. I want you to like how I look, other than that I really am not bothered in the slightest. I might be drop dead gorgeous to someone else, or I might be wuff-butt ugly. I don't care." She touched the tip of her nose to his. "When we're old an' saggy, wrinkled an' with no teeth, you'll still be the most 'andsome man on Idalos to me, an' I'll be the most beautiful woman to you. That's all I care about." Her response to him telling her why the bow was important caused a pursing of her lips and when he said that it came from the heart, she shot back, "No, it came from the bow-shop. Shurrup, you fool." He was right, she knew, and it was appreciated that he noticed. Still. It didn't do to have too many emotions, she might end up being nice to him.

All of it, though, all the teasing and brashness went out of the window as he put the bracelet around her wrist. "I'll thank him." Huw, of course, was who she meant as she whispered that to him. Her voice, everything showed her emotions at it, at what he'd done. The small black mark on the stone made it more beautiful to her and she told him so. Looking down at her wrist when it was on, her expression told of the overwhelming emotions she felt and when she looked at him her eyes were pure golden in colour. "Thank you," she whispered, and that would have to do.

Stepping out with him, her arm in his, Vega felt delight swelling in her at being able to do so, with him here among family. She looked down at the kitten as they charged around and then let out a deep guffaw as her puppy, Zyqat, charged straight into one and there was a sudden flurry of hissing and yowling as the cat and the dog rolled over and over together. There appeared to be a friendship forming, based on fighting and scrapping; rather like her and Arlo she supposed, when they had first met. The twins, Reese and Shon were not there yet, nor were their wives, Sian and Lily. But her father was and so was Arlo's. As he whispered into her ear, Vega's arm in his tightened and she tilted her head as his breath tickled her. "Stop it, you beast," she whispered back. But more seriously, she glanced at Arlo and nodded. "I hope he does, if it's what he wants. Family's important an' he's lonely." She watched him there, talking to her father. "I love my Papa, Arlo, but he's spent his whole life mournin' my Mama an' that's not right. You can't live with death." That Joq'an's choices had impacted her she neither said nor thought about. He had done his best and it was more than good enough. "I hope Mr Creede does what Missus Creede would want him to do. I hope he lives an' carries on an' finds happiness again, in whatever form it is." She spoke softly, just to him. "Havin' read her journals, an' apparently bein' quite a lot like her, I think that when my Mama sees Papa again, she's gonna pound him for bein' an idiot."

As they made their way over to said paternal figures, Joq'an turned and looked at them and his face broke into a rare smile. "Look at you two. It is a sight to see and you!" He grabbed Vega around the waist and she let out a squeal of delight as he literally lifted her and spun, as he had so many times when she was a child. "You look beautiful, Eva." The sight of his daughter, so very injured and with the possibility of not walking again had been hard on him and he had been a quiet but constant presence. He was unsurprised at how she had fought, how determined she was. The knowledge that she had died had also hit him and his eyes, too, were golden as he put her down again next to Arlo who he then spoke to. "And you! Qu'oat, you scrub up well. A handsome couple - we could make it three up there, you know, we have enough of everything?" Vega had tensed ever so slightly at the Rakahi word but when her father tried to suggest that they made it three weddings, she snorted.

"Yeah, Papa, that'll be 'appening round about when that volcano spouts out ice. No, thanks." She smiled, though and moved to put a kiss on Jonas' cheek. "It's nice to see you again, Mr Creede. Have you got everythin' you need? There's a bed made up for you on the Wanderlust if you'd like it." Looking to Mr Creede and then to Arlo, Vega realised something and looked suddenly a little panic-stricken. "An' I didn't mean nothin' by the no thanks, I mean, I'm in it for all of it an' I don't want you thinkin' I'm flighty with him, I promise you.. shurrup Vega." She stopped talking and looked at Arlo as though expecting him to say something that would put it all right. Which was exactly what she did expect, of course.

Dot to dot? Arlo smiled and nodded. "I remember." How he'd wanted to trace a path between them with the tip of his fingers back then, before he'd been able to tell her what she was feeling. Since then, he'd had plenty of opportunities to do it, and it never got old. Not once. But ordinary freckles, he knew, tended to populate themselves in the spring and summer when more skin was exposed to suns'light. It was the case with his mother, her cheeks, nose and arms. Jonas had teased her about it, in fact.

But these new freckles, just as Vega said, were different than the others. Xiur given to be sure. "You're right," he agreed as he looked closer. "Just like the stars. A constellation. There must be some meaning behind the particular pattern? It might do to research it a little?" he suggested. So she could say it didn't matter, but there was no denying that Vega was beautiful, in or out of a fancy dress. He'd always see the same woman, even if her hair turned white and the crinkles deepened around her eyes and mouth. "Just you wait," he teased her. 'There'll be old men chasing you home, hobbling along with their canes, and I'll be forced to fight them off with mine."

"But enough mush for now," he finally said with a grin, and after he'd offered Vega his arm so they could head up on deck. "A double wedding is afoot. There'll be enough mush already." Even the dog and the cats seemed to be getting on, after a fashion, in honor of the events. Though the couples of the break appeared not to have arrived yet. "Probably waiting to make a big entrance," he said. He didn't know about Jo'qan, but his stepfather and more importantly his mother? "She'd tell him that life is for the living and he ought get busy doing it. And he shouldn't do it alone." Arlo suspected that in time, maybe, Jonas would consider it. Eventually maybe. It was much too soon for that.

Jonas turned when Jo'qan did, and took the couple in head to toe. He waited though, while the other exchange continued. Then he smiled as much as Jonas Creede ever did. "You clean up alright Arlo. Not nearly as well as your better half of course," he said to Vega. "I've already thanked your father. But than you too for inviting me." At the suggestion that that the two of them might want to join the trend pursuing wedded bliss that trial, Arlo was speechless just long enough for Vega to beat him to it. When the volcano spat out ice?

"Don't go to any trouble for me,"[/b] Jonas said. "But thank you for the invitation for the night." He'd accept probably. It was a long walk back after dark. Meanwhile, Arlo grinned when Vega looked at him panic stricken of a sudden. "I know," he teased her. "But if you're serious about that, you oughtn't invoke the volcano and its capacity to spit out the unexpected. We've seen some extraordinary and unexpected things since we've been in Scalvoris." He wouldn't put it past the volcano to do just that.

An Unbreakable Bond

Vega had shrugged noncommittally when he spoke about researching her freckles, "Depends on the kind of research you mean," she looked down at them with a rather accusing glare. "Books an' stuff that'll give us information an' theories are fine I suppose. But really, won't change anythin'. " Though, she added with a crooked smile, if he wanted to undertake a full and thorough exploration, inventory and study of them? Well, that was quite another matter. But he'd have no need to be chasing off any men, old or otherwise, she assured him with a grin. He, all on his own, was all the trouble she could handle.

In firm agreement about a double wedding providing quite enough mush, she was pleased to walk out with him and nodded when he spoke about what his mother would say. Then, as her father lifted her and spun her like he had when she was six arcs old and less, Vega let out a squeal of delight and, when he put her down, she turned to Arlo with golden eyes flecked with green. Leaning in to kiss him on the cheek, she whispered. "Son. Qu'oat means son." Her expression as well as her eyes told of how she felt about that, but she turned her attention to Mr Creede. "It's kind of you to say, sir. Thank you." There was no part of her which believed she was Arlo's better half, though. They were parts of a whole. But she shook her head, firmly. "Yer family Mr Creede, that means there is no invite, wherever we are, you're welcome. An' you can be sure that the same will be assumed in reverse." It was true in her eyes

Her panic at the thought, though, that Mr Creede might think that she was flighty with Arlo, not concerned with or committed to him, showed on her face and then turned into a grin when Arlo pointed out that, this being Scalvoris, she might well want to be careful of suggesting weird things. "Scalvoris this migh' be, an' weird as it is, it's not likely to get you to leg gnawin', is it?" Resting her head against his shoulder for a brief moment, she smiled contentedly; Vega was exactly that - content. Looking up though, she caught sight of Huw and a frown darkened her expression. "Excuse me, I'll be righ' back," she said and she moved over to where Fi was fussing with ropes. Vega spoke to her, quietly and out of earshot of the others although, if Lyova was listening or just accidentally around, she'd hear Vega in a much more usual approach than the subtle one she'd tried for. "So, then, this older bloke? Is he my Papa?" Fi looked horrified and shook her head. "Oh nuts. It's Huw?" Fi's eyes were a mix of colours and Vega sighed "You should go for it, Huw's mad about you." Fi looked amazed and Vega grinned, then shrugged. "Thought I'd best make it clear. Any'ow, they're comin'. Yer supposed to be over there, gerron."

As Fi made her way over to the Waking Dreamer, where her sisters were about to emerge on deck, Vega made her way back over to the men-folk. Huw, in the meantime had joined them and Vega punched him in the arm, hard. "Ow! What was that for?" She looked at him and grinned. "Yer an idiot. She's totally in love with you, like pathetic, crazy, vulnerable love. An' yer a fool." He frowned at her darkly and Vega beamed at him. "Thank you. For the stones I mean. An' all of it." Huw snorted and turned to look over at the other ship. "She is?" Vega nodded. "Crazy and vulnerable?" A grin crossed Huw's face as Vega slipped her hand into Arlo's, "Yeah. Unlike you who's jus' dull an' frankly, I'm bored already. Look lively."

The twins came up on to the deck and they all moved to the rails of the Wanderlust and started throwing ropes across to the Dreamer, and catching ropes from there. "We keep doin' this, till there's a bridge," Vega explained, to both Arlo and Jonas. "An' when there is, they move out to the middle an' stand together. Each couple ties a thin cord round each other, an' then they're married. Or," she shrugged slightly, "they fall into the drink. One or the other." She was fooling no one with her brashness, she knew, and her eyes told just how happy she was for the couples. She found the whole thing very sweet and romantic and she fully participated, flinging ropes and catching them with delight. When it was strong enough, and that took a while, Joq'an moved out to the middle of the bridge. Standing in the middle, the two pairs of twins made their way out. Standing there, they began to loop the cord.

"So come one, then. Are we gonna make it three weddin's in one?" Vega asked, looking at Huw and not really thinking that her words might just surprise Arlo a little. "Get on there. She'll meet you there." He hesitated, then looked at Arlo and sighed. "You are an unlucky man, to love such a difficult woman." Vega kicked him in the ankle and he moved to the middle of the bridge where, without hesitation, Fi joined him. "Well, thank Xiur that's done. Who wants a drink?" Vega asked of both Arlo and his stepfather. "An' then, I reckon, food an' dancin'."

It was how Biqaj partied, after all.

An Unbreakable Bond

The sort of research he'd meant, in regards to her new collection of freckles. "Well I figured in large party, the sort of research i mean would be self-evident," Arlo had teased with a last kiss when the'd first left their quarters below deck. Later, of course. Now in the thick of a double wedding and a trial meant to be focused on others, it just wasn't the time. Not that he was complaining no matter the time of trial or night.

Son. That was what Jo'qan had meant, and Arlo appreciated the sentiment more than he could say. Strange, he'd grown up never knowing who the man was who'd sired him. He probably never would know. But at the end of the trial, the unknown man had never been a father at all. And yet there were others, unrelated by blood who had. It took growing up however for him to finally recognize that. As for Jonas, Vega's sentiments were true in reverse, she'd always be welcome at the farm. However, the man's tolerance for mush didn't rise as far as even Arlo's did. So a good nod was about the extent that he'd offer. The gesture spoke volumes nonetheless.

Arlo snorted though, and grinned when Vega referenced an old claim that he'd made in regards to him having the slightest inclination to settle down and marry. "Maybe just a toe rather than a leg or a foot. A token, just for good measure," he quipped. Commitment of the sort that the two of them shared wasn't, as it turned out, the red eyed, sharped tooth beast that he'd made it out to be, way back when. And it was forever, happily. Still, neither of them were in any state of mind to be wanting a race down the aisle to the alter. But if others wanted that sort of acknowledgment. All the more power to them and it was a happy event. Times two. And as it turned out, it seemed it would be times three.

It appeared that way anyway, Arlo figured as he watched Vega go back and forth between Fi and Huw, and then somehow the pair ended up side by side. It was an interesting tradition, this building a rope bridge between ships, and Jonas was on his other side as they both joined in. "Obviously a calm trial on the seas is better for occasions like this," he quipped and bumped Vega's shoulder gently as they worked. Though stormy seas would certainly make things extra interesting.

Of course he hadn't expected Vega to be urging a third pair to get married that trial. But clearly the pair had been playing at hit and miss for some time now, crossed messages, missed cues. It was only right, Arlo guessed. "We do," both he and Jonas said in response to having a drink, but it was Jonas who offered to go off and fetch them. Left alone there then, the two of them, food, yes, Arlo agreed. But then? All the dancing she wanted, so long as she didn't mind his two left feet.
