The Embla-

The Embla is a sacred tradition among all Melrathi. It is taken up by those that have found their calling in life. Be it politics, crafting, military services or even something as workaday as farming. Individuals will paint their faces and bodies to reflect their purpose in life. Nobility and politicians may don delicate gold leaf designs that accentuate their features, whereas artisans and merchants will wear simple, but colorful designs. Hunters, woodsmen, and all those who spend their time in the wilderness often choose broad savage markings. It is the only some branches of the Melrath military that choose to make their Embla permanent in the form of tattoos.

The Embla is considered an honor to bear. Children will go unmarked until the age of fifteen when they receive their first markings by either their parents or guardians. It is also at this age that children are considered young adults. The only adult Melrathi that do not wear an Embla are the destitute and homeless. It is considered a great dishonor to fail in serving Melrath in some form so these individuals are forbidden to wear any form of the Embla.

Note: Once you have become a citizen of Melrath you may choose to wear your own Embla.
