What Are Wealth Tiers?

Here on Standing Trials, your wealth is measured in Tiers. Each Tier is an indication of your lifestyle overall and encompasses all aspects of that lifestyle. Items in the price list, your clothing, housing and so on are all determined by Wealth Tiers, so make sure that you understand not only what your Wealth Tier is, but also where it fits in the bigger picture of wealth (and poverty) on Idalos!

How Do I Know My Wealth Tier?

Your initial Wealth Tier is determined by your starter pack. After that, you will gain or lose Wealth Points each season. Those Wealth Points determine where you are in the list of Wealth Tiers.

Wilderness PCs & Wealth Tier

These work slightly differently, as the PCs do not live a "conventional" lifestyle. For Wilderness PCs, their Wealth Tier is determined by their Field Craft or Hunting skill. Each level of that skill is associated with a Wealth Tier. This means that those who take the Wilderness Pack start in Absolute Poverty and, when they reach Competent they move up to Destitute. However, their starting package means that they are able to live in a self sufficient manner. Wealth Threads for a Wilderness PC should be a Wilderness or Survival thread. If the individual PC wishes to default their Wealth Skill to another skill, the case for this must be put forward in the PSF and will be approved so long as it fits with the character story (eg: A traveling circus performer might have Acrobatics that's fine). This can be done on character creation or at any time thereafter.

Wilderness PCs may earn Wealth Points the same as any other PC. When they reach a new Wealth Tier due to Skill increase, they are considered to be on the very bottom of that Tier. They can not increase their Wealth Tier via Wealth Points as a Wilderness PC, but they can spend them.

Below is a list of the Wealth Tiers with the Wealth Points in parentheses after them:

• Wealth Tier 5 (66 - 90)
• Wealth Tier 6 (91 - 115)
• Wealth Tier 7 (116 - 140)
• Wealth Tier 8 (141 -195)
• Wealth Tier 9 (196 -250)
• Wealth Tier 10 (251+)

NPCs

There is no limit on the number of skilled or flavour NPCs that you can have, however, please(note the rules on NPCs

Lifestyle Per Tier

Wealth Tier 1 ( 0 - 5 Wealth Points)

Somebody living in Wealth Tier 1 owns nothing. This is the default starting wealth for all slave PCs. For non-slaves, all you have is the clothes on your back. You will need to beg or be given food, you have nowhere to live and you own nothing.

For those PCs with the Wilderness Starter Pack or Seafaring Starter Pack this is the level of wealth at Novice of their associated wealth skill It suggests that your PC is significantly below the skill level needed to live comfortably in the environment they're in.

Wealth Tier 2 (6 - 25 Wealth Points)

At this tier, a character is living in squalor, or is homeless. They live from hand to mouth, often not knowing where the next meal is coming from

For those PCs with the Wilderness Starter Pack or Seafaring Starter Pack this is the level of wealth at Competent of their associated wealth skill. It suggests that your PC is below, or just at the skill level needed to live comfortably in the environment they're in.

Wealth Tier 3 (26 - 45 Wealth Points)

Here, you are living well below the average lifestyle. Your home is likely to be very basic and, if living in a city, for example, you are in the poorest area / district

For those PCs with the Wilderness Starter Pack or Seafaring Starter Pack this is the level of wealth at Expert of their associated wealth skill. It suggests that your PC is at, or slightly above the skill level needed to live comfortably in the environment they're in.

Wealth Tier 4 (46 - 65 Wealth Points)

This person is living with below average wealth. Your lifestyle affords you little in the way of luxuries and some seasons are hard to get by.

For those PCs with the Wilderness Starter Pack or Seafaring Starter Pack this is the level of wealth at Master of their associated wealth skill. It suggests that your PC is well above the skill level needed to live comfortably in the environment they're in.

Wealth Tier 5(66 - 90 Wealth Points)

The average lifestyle for a character in Idalos. If you live in a house, you have a small three room home in a mediocre area. Nothing fancy, but equally, you aren't completely scraping for your next meal, either. You get by.
For those PCs with the Wilderness Starter Pack or Seafaring Starter Pack this is the level of wealth at Maximum (100/100 for FT or 250/250 for all other skills) of their associated wealth skill. It suggests that your PC is at a skill level where they can live, more than comfortably, almost anywhere on Idalos.

Wealth Tier 6 (91 - 115 Wealth Points)

This person is starting to see the finer things in life, here and there. They are well fed and able to buy little treats and luxuries, here and there. Their home is likely to be comfortable.

Wealth Tier 7 (116 - 140 Wealth Points)

Wealthy individuals have a good lifestyle and money to spare. They have comfortable and well appointed housing with spare resources which they can save or spend on luxury items. Their food and clothing are likely to be well above average.

Wealth Tier 8 (141 - 195 Wealth Points)

The very wealthy are those who have a very good lifestyle, are able to live in very high quality housing if they choose to and have lots of spare wealth with which to purchase luxuries and any goods they want.

Wealth Tier 9 (196 - 250 Wealth Points)

To be rich is to have the opportunity of a lifestyle the average person would not be able to dream of. Minor nobility living in large private estates and wearing the finest clothes are rich.

Wealth Tier 10(251 Wealth Points +)

Then, there are the filthy rich. Those who can afford pretty much whatever they want and who live an absolutely libertine lifestyle. They are the high ranking nobles, most famous in their professions, etc.
