Category:WIP Spiritborn
You've now completed your trial and have become a Diri of Hone, the first spirit of any magic in all existence. Functionally, in terms of soul bits and stuff, Praetorum is now more akin to a Tunawa. We'll have plenty of things to discuss following this, but I'll try to clarify a few of them.
1. Praetorum still maintains his physical form while in Idalos. 2. Praetorum is now able to move back and forth freely into the Beneath and the Imaginings. While in these places, he'll have a spirit form that you may design. 3. Praetorum can never be initiated into another magic. 4. Praetorum still has his blessing and can still advance it. 5. Functionally, Praetorum's Defiance and Hone can still level up and use all of the same abilities as before. However, thematically their use will be different as the elemental spirits are effectively replacing his Defiance spark. 6. Praetorum has lost all current mutations, including his witchmarks. He will no longer be required to have Awakenings. However, he can acquire overstepping mutations by standard means. 7. Praetorum may still reveal into Defiance and/or Hone. However, these will be custom revelations should that time come. 8. Praetorum's training ground is accessible to him at all times. He may enter there and control it just as it functioned during this trial. While in there, he will be in his Spirit Form. It takes time and concentration to enter it, so it cannot be accessed instantly. You may write up this as a location, and it will be attached to you if so desired. 9. Finally, Praetorum may not initiate people into Defiance. However, he can initiate people into Hone by bringing them into his training ground and putting them through a trial of his own making. If initiated in this way, a person who fails will not die or become a monster, but simply be removed from the trial
1) Am I specifically the diri of lucis hone, or umbral as well? This covers all of Hone. So both.
2) RPwise, what changes should I make note of in becoming a spirit? Access to the Beneath and Imaginings, inability to be flayed by normal means (if they can flay via Ephemera they can flay you), effective immortality, meaning no aging and immune to naturally occurring diseases and ailments. The use of Hone or Defiance will cost Ephemera, instead of ether. However, if in the presence of other Hone use (not Defiance) Praetorum can consume the ambient energy from them and 'recharge'.
3) Hone has an ethersight rune. Does that stay the same now, or does it become like, ephemerasight?? That rune remains the same. However, Praetorum is able to see other Spirits and Souls, and into the beneath, naturally.
4) The wiki says hone sparks “carries within them an ancient memory of the Runes contained within the discipline” so do I like, know all the runes my spark does now, or do I still have to meditate to learn them? You will still have to meditate or discover them.
5) Do I have a Purpose or Charge the way other diri would? Hone *is* the Purpose. Spreading its use and such.
6) Do I still have a sense of the Hone spark’s theme, even with my mutations gone? oh my god is that my Purpose now? The theme remains, and is adjustable, and can affect your purpose.
7) As above, do I no longer have a theme with defiance since that spark is now just spirit friends? You can still maintain the theme, it just is now expressed in a different fashion cuz spirit friends *made* from your spark.
8) How sentient are my new spirit friends? Compared to like, the way the elements normally are using defiance? Is it reasonable to have them talk, for instance? Equally comparable to how the defiance elements already function. So nah, no talking.
9) Do I have to command them by talking, or can I just request things of them mentally? Mentally is fine.
10) Do I still have a kin element? Yes
11) Can I overstep in defiance if its my spirit friends doing the heavy lifting now? Yes, because as the dominant spirit over them, you fuel them, effectively.
12) Can most people see my spirit buddies? Works the same as other spirits. While in the Beneath, normies can't see them. While in Idalos proper, normies can see them.
13) What happens when I use refinements with defiance? Do they just like use their powers together to make the refined element? Yes.
14) Do I still have the six initiations only limit? You have unlimited initiations now.
15) Can I still gain different marks in the future, or am I only allowed to keep and level up the ones I have right now? You may gain different marks in the future, however, various Immortals opinion of Prae may change cuz... Spirit.
16) Uh. Do either of my deities (assuming i get that dang raskalarn mark quest done before the end of the hekkin season) have strong opinions of what has happened to me. Or for that matter, what happened in general? I'll let you know in the new season with a moderated thread ;)
17) Initially, I had meant for Prae to be a mortalborn, although I’m starting to rethink that tbh. Still, if I go ahead with that, what or how would that interact with this… this? I’m willing to dump that idea if this turns out to be too complicated or… contradictory considering the anti immortal stance of the eternals No longer possible to have started as a Mortalborn, this is too inherent of a change.
18) Am I disoriented in the imaginings, or does it feel more homey? More homey.
19) Is it easier to see spirits while on Idolas now, even without trying? Built in Spirit and Ghost vision
20) Is it easier to understand spirits now? Yes
21) Once I enter my training grounds, do I exit out exactly where I left? (Aside from leaving it right now, I mean) Yes
22) How does time pass in my training grounds? Is there like, time dilation? Passes normally.
23) How much control do I have over my training grounds, exactly? Is it really just a “your imagination is your limit?” Yup, imagination is your limit.
24) Can I bring people into my training ground without initiating them into hone? Anyone entering the training ground will effectively have begun their Initiation, regardless. If they have a Hone Spark, they can train there while you're present. So no, all who enter will have initiation started.
25) How long does it take to move into the beneath and imaginings? Instantly for Prae. Ghosts have it tougher.
26) Do I make vergences when I move back and forth? Yes, small ones.
27) Can I use moving into the beneath to bypass obstacles in idolas? Objects in Idalos are also present in the Beneath.
28) How does this change interact with dreamwalking? Changes nothing.
29) Is using magic in a fracture safer now for me, since I’m using magic with ephemera and not ether? Yes, your magic is at normal capacity within Fractures and Emea alike.
30) How does this affect well usage? Wells that can store magic aspects are normally ether wells, right? Yes, but there are spirit wells and other wells that can store Ephemera abilities and wells can be refined with Ephemera as well. So Prae falls in that category.
31) Am I allergic to copper now, the way ghosts and spirits seem to be? That only applies to ghosts. Not spirits.
32) Do I still need to like, eat or sleep now that I’m a spirit? No, but you are able to do so anyways.
33) When you say I’m sort of like a tunawa now, does that mean I’m like, resistant to magic the way they are? No, just part soul, part spirit.
34) Do I produce ephemera for spirits to nom nom like Tunawa do? Yes, and for ghosts to nom nom too.
35) How does time shit work? Is it like fridgar where the spirit self shows up and merges with the one who's been chilling in the normal timeline? Yes. You arrive back to where you were in normal time and merge.
36) Is it okay if I make this change at the beginning of next season to avoid the issues of contradicting the CitW thread? Perfectly okay and a smart idea.
37) Will people using hone around me... feed/empower me? Is that how spirits work? Yes and yes.
38) Is the spirit form designed by me, or Praetorum? That is, does he have control over what he looks like? Both, if you'd like. Typically it should be one fairly consistent form so perhaps IC design of the first time, and then need plot reasons to change down the line.
39) Do other hone mages/sparks have like a sense that something is weird about Prae? Sure. This dude feels weird. Hone and Defiers will notice instantly. Others will need various abilities to notice.
40) Can a becomer still make a totem of Prae if he has no ether in him anymore? No, but not because he has no ether. Chop a piece of him off and it will dissolve into ephemera.
41) Just to clarify, I'm still specifically a lucis runewright, even though my purpose doesn't make any distinction? Prae has access to both styles of Hone, though he'll have to learn all the other side's stuff IC.
42) Is the imagining also layered over idolas, spatially? I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to do something like dreamwalking's crossing, moving large distances by taking advantage of the differences between realms. It's layered similarly yes. So, you could travel distinctly within one realm and pop up suddenly in the other. However, time wise this wouldn't really change anything.
43) Not that I'm going to do so, but can I flay ephemera now? Yes.
44) How permanent are physical injuries, if I'm made of Ephemera? If someone chops off a limb now does it heal over into a stump or does it grow back because /shrug spirits It can eventually grow back. Albeit slowly, or if Prae receives a LARGE amount of external ephemera from Hone.
45) How do other, normal spirits interact with Prae? I assume he'll be more attractive to them because of the nom nom, but aside from that do they have strong opinions on my being a spirit of something totally new? Older Induk will need moderated to determine their reaction. Other Diri is sort of a mixed bag. Some may hunt, some may be scared, some may wish to aid. Most Anak will either flee or choose to serve IF they are close enough to Prae's Purpose. So spirits having to do with things Runes can adjust.
