Overview

The Hot Cycle of 719 sees a massive change in Desnind as the Fall of Emea has enormous repercussions on the City in the Trees.

Weather

Ymiden: 83 trials

General Weather

Ymiden is known for its hot, summer weather and strong hurricanes. Though this season isn't as unbearable as Saun, Ymiden provides more cloudless days than cloudy. Astronomers cherish this season for its clear skies, giving way to cool nights full of stars and moonlight. Ymiden is also the season where most festivals take place. Crops planted during Ashan will be harvested before the middle of Ymiden, allowing for enormous feasts, plenty of drink, and an unlimited supply of entertainment.

Ymiden lasts for a total of 83 trials (days). During this time, temperatures remain moderate while oceans and any other body of water become warm enough to swim in. The storms that occur throughout this season can be severe, ranging from hurricanes, typhoons, tornadoes, and monsoons. However, each region will experience the effects of this seasons differently.

Desnind Specific

Throughout the whole of Ymiden, the temperatures in Desnind are as though it was Saun. There are no clouds in the skies and no wind in the air. It is hot and humid - animals suffer and mortals even moreso. There is, literally, no deviation in the weather and this is seen as just one more reason why bad, bad things are happening.

Saun: 40 Trials

General Weather

As Ymiden closes out, Saun begins, bringing with it another sun. Saun is known as the hottest season in Idalos with high temperatures that can become unbearable to work in. During this season, night time provides a small relief to the heat and though the temperatures aren't so excruciatingly hot, exposure to the sun without proper water and shade as well as rest can be fatal.

Saun lasts a total of 40 trials (days). It is recommended during this time to keep a close eye on all children, livestock, and crops. Because of the heat, water will need to be readily available and distributed frequently, as to avoid potential stroke or loss of life from overheating. Any storms experienced during this season are much more powerful than those produced during Ymiden.

Desnind Specific

The second sun brings tortuous heat to Moseke's City. It is unbearably hot and, as night and day merge in to one, there is an enormous strain on the Medicine Tent and the Order of the Adunih as heatstroke and dehydration become commonplace. There are no storms, there is no wind - again, the weather seems simply 'stuck'

Seasonal Context

The Fall of Emea has brought with it some unwelcome consequences and, as such, Desnind finds itself in a time of uncertainty.

Festivals of Note

Ymiden

Although there are festivals planned for this season, the weather and the general feeling of panic and need to work together means that they are cancelled.

Ashan

Although there are festivals planned for this season, the weather and the general feeling of panic and need to work together means that they are cancelled.

Events

Ymiden

  • 1st - Desnind awakes to the Fall of Emea. The events which took place here are known to everyone and there is a state of panic. Add in to this the strange weather and there is a quiet but noticeable feeling of panic. In the late afternoon, there is an emergency meeting held by the Mulki - trying to make sense of the situation PM Peg if you wish to interact with anyone from the The Oludibo Cikakken - the Five will not be out in force, but a large number of the members will be seen.

  • 2nd - The Last Iyo - Self Mod. In the surprise of the trial before, no one really noticed. But it is found in the morning of this trial that all the iyo are dead. Like - all of them.

  • 5th - Missing the Mother - Self Mod. It becomes apparent that Moseke has not been seen in Desnind since the Fall of Emea. Fear grows around where she might be and her absence adds to the general feeling of unrest.

  • 19th - The First Sign - Moderator Input There are attacks on both the Order of the Adunih and the Medicine House. Medical supplies are stolen. It seems very likely that this is a group of panic-driven citizens, but it sends shockwaves throughout Desnind. Elders were harmed during these attacks and this is not the way that things are done here. PM Peg for Plotnotes. All threads are considered Impact Threads

  • 34th - The Lori Weeps -

  • 58th - When Dreamers Die -

  • 70th - End of an Era -

  • 83rd - Preparations -

Ashan

  • 1st - Newlight Festival - self modded - this festival brings the spirit of giving to the City in the Trees and there are many random acts of kindness done throughout the trial.

  • 15th - 18th - "Disease on our doorstep" (self-modded) - Series of random animal attack threatens the walls of Desnind. From the very first incident it is clear that something unusual is happening. These animals don't look right. Some have been part mauled. Some have that unhinged look about them. All of them carry the foul stench of the Bad Lands. They come suddenly in herds or alone. They attack without logic or coordination, but then always retreat en masse. It is almost as if something, or someone, was sending out scouts to see the durability of Desnind's defences.

  • 35th - "Spectral visions" (modded case by case) - Strange sightings are observed. Mirages of humanoid shape are seen along the walls of Desnind. At first the alarm sounds and fears of Motsin attack take hold of the city. However, those are quickly disproved as a group of brave Nafaka head to investigate. Their report is mixed and inconsistent. Some refuse to give details altogether, but there is a running thread through it all. The Nafaka members believe that ghosts have arrived. What do they want or why they are there? No one can tell for sure, but an air of tension hangs about them.

  • 40th - A scout rushes into Desnind, horror on her face. The Bad Lands have spread miles past the safety posts. Something has accelerated its advance and the furthest borders which used to be 7 trials ride are now only 3 trials away.

  • 50th - Pervading Darkness Moderated Thread. A number of groups are sent out to try and gather information on the Bad Land spread. What will they find?

  • 81st - Darkbane Market this arc is a rather sorry affair, what with the difficulties of the last few seasons. However, the people of Desnind rally and do their best and, all in all, a good trial is had.

  • 90th - with the creeping Bad Lands and the troubles of the last seasons, there is growing unrest in Desnind. There are three main groups suggesting change: those who believe that Desnind should become more militaristic, those who suggest that the Immortals should be called upon and Desnind should focus on its religious and spiritual strength and the third group who look to magic. Which group, if any, will prevail? The Cikakken hold an 'open surgery' where citizens may come and speak on this matter. Moderator Overview: Please PM Peg

Focus this Cycle: Factions

This season, we want to focus on the Factions here in Desnind. Our aim is to get more PCs involved in these. Please PM Peg if you'd like to be involved in any of the existing factions or would like to set up one of your own. Thanks!!
