History: Other than being a staple of the Yari diet, most children at some point or another, especially children of fisherman and sailors will at some point make a knife from the beak or “snout” of this fish.

Appearance: Colorful and plentiful, these yellow eyed fish come in many shades of blues and purples and combinations therein. Their patterns tend to differ with the season they were born in, though what this signifies is unknown to any Yari.

Habitat: These fish live pretty much unchanged by the seasons living in the warm waters of Yaralon’s coastal areas. They are most plentiful at the very end of the dry season.

Lifespan and Development: Axe snout’s breed pretty much year round with no real limits other than food supply. Burrows in the sand and stone are dug using their hard noses and eggs laid inside these

Diet: These herbivores subsist primarily on seaweed and kelp and can often be seen nosing the sand at the bottom of the sea with their noses looking for roots and such to eat.

Temperament: These large school fish are one of the more docile breeds in the Yari waters. However their defense tactic of lining their hard noses towards a threat and swimming directly at it has made using nets made of rope for fishing in Yaralon near impossible. Outside of that it isn’t uncommon to see large schools of these colorful fish milling about in the Yari waters
