So Idalos and The Verses created the Shay. The Shay, like the Dragons, were granted sentience and the power to dream. But where the Dragons were hard and unchanging, the Shay were soft and ever mercurial. They were spurred on by inventive purpose and compensated for a lack of physical grandeur with keen and clever minds. While the Dragons maintained their dominion over the untamed and wild elements of Idalos, the Verses reveled in the creation and invention from their new children. The Shay, like the Dragons, were connected to Emea. Through this connection to their souls, the Shay could channel their adoration as a form of sustenance to Dragons and Induk both. Through worship, religion was born and the Verses became their pantheon.

Archaeological records of the Shay are few. Most of their ancient structures and abandoned cities are considered to be early Human settlements. The Shay worshiped the Verses and some Dragons as their gods, constantly striving to better themselves and their civilization across Idalos.
