Overview

In Arc 717, it was discovered that Idalos has barriers at the edge. Whilst it is commonly accepted among academics that Idalos is round, it seems that there are a number of enormous, semi-transparent, huge dome-shaped barriers around the world. These discoveries have been credited to Professor Padraig Augustin, of Scalvoris, who was working for the Viden Academy, Scalvoris Campus.

Timeline

  • Saun, 717 ~ Professor Padraig Augustin studies the trajectory of the second sun as part of his studies in Physics.
  • Vhalar, 717 ~ In presenting his findings, Professor Augustin discovers an anomaly. He proposes this to his professor, Esme Dashiell at the University in Scalvoris. They work out the geographical location of this minute "wobble" in the sun
  • Zi'da 717 ~ first expedition to the location of the anomaly in the sun's orbit.
  • Ashan, 718 ~ second expedition to the location of the anomaly

Facts

From the two expeditions, the following information has been ascertained:

  • Close to the barriers, there is an invisible field. In this field, the following was observed:
    • The placement of the stars shifts, suggesting that passing into the field takes you to a different geographical place
    • In this field, no magic works
    • In this field, no Immortal-granted marks work
    • In this field, no magical / enchanted items work

Theory

There is a theory which suggests that it is not simply the Eastern shores which have a barrier of this kind, but that such exist in the North, South and West also. This is currently conjecture.

Links

  • The Edge~ 1st Zi'da, 717.
Professor Augustin goes on an expedition to find the location of an anomaly he discovered in the orbit of the second sun. He discovers the Eastern Barrier

  • Hypnagogic ~ 95th Ashan, 718
Returning to the Edge, Professor Augustin discovers that the barriers are somehow linked to Emea. He catches a glimpse of what is through the barrier, stepping partially into it.
