Weather

Zilis has moved in front of the Idalosian suns, causing thirty days of darkness. A dark lunar eclipse decorates the sky throughout the season. The chill of the season is exacerbated by the shadows cast by the forest. Freezing rains are not uncommon within the Makubwa Lori. Snowfall occurs later in the season, but the city is often well protected by the large trees. Only clearings within the Makubwa seem to collect the snowfall enough to play in it. The city is far too populated and too well protected by the trees to have enough build-up of the fluffy white flakes. This is a season where Sev'ryn will be forced to wear shoes when the ground becomes too cold to walk on.

Seasonal Events

  • Trial 1 of Cylus
    • In preparation for the city to fall into complete darkness, many people go on the "alaiwa snäyì" or "light walk". Citizens will take their laterns with them as a way to bond with their iyọ for the last time. Together, groups of people will walk to the Kẹjí Kisa. There, they partake in tasting the seasonal spiced Holpxay, sing traditional Sev'ryn songs, and tell stories of their ancestors.
  • Trial 2 of Cylus
    • The iyọ throughout Desnind build their cocoons. By the end of the trial, the city is in complete darkness except for the few fires at the Hunter's Fire Pit. As the yellow, blue, and green light fades throughout the city, many citizens come to the Hunter's Fire Pit to welcome the night. Other citizens elect to stay up, in fear that Audrae and her disciples will take this as an opportunity attack.
  • Trial 3 of Cylus
    • There is a call for wood as the stockpiles have run low. The Cïkäkkẹn grant a few special permits to those that are interesting in aiding the city to chop down dead trees in the Makubwa Lori. Several able bodied men and women come together to chop and shuttle wood back to the city.
  • Trial 8 of Cylus
    • The Stone Oven is offering 20% off all baked sweets. These sweets are shaped in fun forms and are highly desired by children. Breads filled with dried fruit and nuts are on display as the specialty item of the season.
    • A girl is reported missing to the elders. The first search party made up of all able bodied trackers leaves in search of her just a few breaks after the report is made. (Cylus City Wide Event: Sign up here)
  • Trial 9 of Cylus
    • The first freezing rainstorm of the season occurs. The rains last all day, forcing the fire pits to be put out as no one is willing to keep them running.
    • The trackers failed to find the girl but did find a trail. Sadly they were forced to return to the city due to a frozen rainstorm. (Cylus City Wide Event: Sign up here)
  • Trial 10 of Cylus
    • The rainstorm is still going and the elders decide it would be unwise to risk the life of the most able bodied men and women. The distraught mother appeals to anyone who is willing to listen and brave the storm to search for Rin'ea. Those who agree set off following the trail that is now weak due to the storm. • Trial 22 of Cylus
    • The first snowfall occurs. Many go into the Makubwa Lori. Various clearings become showrooms for snow people and animals that are built by children.
  • Trial 23 of Cylus - Holiday Mwẹnz Tsäbtä - "The Star Release"
    • This holiday is designed in honoring an insect that provides a great service to Desnind - light. The iyọ are large glow bugs that live year round in glass lanterns. At the beginning of Cylus, the entire city falls into darkness as these glow bugs form cocoons. On trial 21 of Cylus, the cocoons split to reveal bright, bioluminescent butterflies. These butterflies are released on trial 23 of Cylus, after they have left a few eggs at the bottom of the lantern. By the beginning of Ashan, the eggs have hatched to bring new light to a new year and life. On trial 23 of Cylus, all the residents bring their captive iyọ and release them. There is no place to congregate for the release, as most residents will release them just outside their front door. The sky is filled for the next 24 to 36 breaks with the bright butterflies, making all of Desnind glow. During these hours, the eggs are opaque. They slowly become translucent while the adults are still around, although they will begin to disappear into the Makubwa Lori. The last butterfly leaves Desnind when the first egg glows. Many believe that the day of hatching guarantees new life to Desnind, and this occurs on the last day of Cylus. Rumor has it that the day the butterflies do not hatch, Desnind will remain in darkness forever.
  • Trial 30 of Cylus
    • The iyọ eggs begin to hatch. People get together to trade the glowing caterpillar with one another to ensure that a pair is made of the same color.
