Weather

Saun is a season where many people try as hard as they can to avoid being out and about. Much like in Cylus the weather reaches extremes that are life threatening and can be dangerous for even the most prepared of adventurers and hunters. Even with the shade of the trees the Makubwa Lori can be unbearably hot and high humidity is often a problem. The air can be described as sticky after a storm but when there has been no rainfall for a while it is clear the forest is struggling; leaves start to die and plants wither. This is not the best time to appreciate the forest for its beauty or to visit the city of Desnind. Those who venture out for the most part this Saun will find it sunny and blistering hot when not covered by the dense canopy. The sun giving a serious risk of heat stroke, serious burning, and the possibility of dehydration. Saun also brings with it the serious risk of storms, lightning storms that give out torrential rains. Some parts of the forest, including the caves of some dangerous animals can be flooded due to these storms making the forest a much more dangerous place. Only the most expert in navigating and surviving in the wilderness will go out soon after a storm due to the risks it offers to those not well trained or experienced. Paths can also often be found blocked after storms when the trees were struck by lightning and branches exploded off. These storms will take place on the 8th, 20th, 25th, 31st, 32nd and 33rd.

Seasonal Events

• 1st Saun:
  • Saun arrives and people prepare for the heat, drinking troughs for animals are scattered throughout the city along with large barrels of water for people who might find themselves out in the sun without a drink. The Cikkaken are hoping to avoid any serious consequences for those who wish to attempt to keep on top of their work during this hot and difficult season.
• 12th Saun:
  • A group of hunters have gone missing after venturing deep into the eastern Makubwa Lori, some select members of the Cikkaken have been sent out to investigate in the hopes of finding them. Many thing it is possible that something went wrong due to the recent storm before their expedition.
• 18th Saun:
  • The investigators were only able to find one member of the hunting party that left on the 9th Saun. He is very dehydrated and starved, however, he swears that they were attacked by shadows and his companions were taken by them in the night.
• 20th Saun:
  • The Cikkaken claim they are unable to prove the hunters story and so are unable to act upon his claims. However, they have forbidden all citizens and visitors to the city from traveling more than 40 miles east of Desnind, this is for their own safety and to be followed by all who live within the city and its immediate vicinity. • 26th Saun:
  • Archery. A skill highly valued among the people of Desnind and especially the hunters. All are invited to attend the event which will be held within the city near to Moseke's temple. It is free to watch and all who wish to take part are to sign up the trial before in the place the tournament will be held. (Modded thread, sign up will be available soon and all are welcome to take part as competitors or observers. Might be more than it seems...)
• 32nd Saun:
  • A body is found, mangled and tortured, hanging from a tree not far from the entrance to the city. Whispers begin to spread around the city that things like this had happened before and that something bad is brewing.
• 35th Saun:
  • The Cikkaken meet to discuss the growing issues of Desnind, they are brought out of this meeting and disturbed as screams can be heard from outside of the temple. A woman is there holding a young boy in her arms, clearly there is something wrong with him and from the hysterical screaming and shock it is only just discerned that she had found her son with a strange man just outside the city to the west. He had fled into the trees after she found them, leaving the boy as he was now, dreadfully sick. (Modded event, sign up will be available soon.)
