The Time Above

Ehtrusan was founded in Arc 120. It was a prosperous city which was ruled with an iron fist by the ruling family. The city quickly became known for its skilled crafters - mainly in the arts of construction, sculpture and architecture.Within a few arcs, Ehtrusan was known as the city where wonders could be crafted in stone. It was their gift.

The Royal Family prospered and there was a very clear caste system. Those who were not of Royal or True Blood were given vast privilege whereas those deemed the "Kesh" or "mundane" of Ehtrusan were the workers. Enjoying far less rights and privilege than those from the higher up families, the Kesh were subjugated to progressively worse and worse treatment. Eventually, around Arc 329, a rebellion started to occur among the Kesh. By this point Ehtrusan was a very prosperous city and even the citizens were aware that the King and Queen were losing touch with their people. The Kesh uprising continued to develop until Arc 333 when violence erupted. Fighting occurred in the streets and the question on everyone's lips was how the Kesh had been so well equipped, all in secret.

No one got to answer that question, however. Whilst the city was in turmoil within from a civil war which had been brewing for a long time, Nashaki attacked and the defenders could not hold against them.

The Time of Descent

When it became obvious that Ehtrusan would fall, the King and his family were whisked from the city, then his wider family and those who were of Trueborn status. The Kesh were largely ignored in the evacuation and, ironically, ended up helping the guard to fight of the invading Nashaki forces. It became apparent that there had been an escape planned for some time and, in fact, more than that. There was a small city already carved out of the catacombs which existed naturally below the city. This had been prepared, although why is not completely clear. Did the King plan some kind of exodus down there anyhow? It isn't widely known, yet the fact that these plans had been made undoubtedly saved lives during these trials.

It quickly was obvious that some Kesh would be needed in order to maintain the smooth running of the underground city and so a few thousand of them were allowed in, after the Royal Family and Truebloods had been secured. Then, the place was sealed and the remaining Kesh were left to die at the hands of the Nashaki

The Time of Preparation

What has happened in Ehtrusan whilst they have been underground is largely unknown, relying on the verbal stories of the Ehtrusani themselves. Enough of the Kesh were left behind that the city was believed to be destroyed and its forces subdued. As is their way, rather than speak any treason or serve another, those who were captured bit off their own tongues. Whenever possible, they fell onto their sword rather than be captured.

Now that Ehtrusan has been discovered, it is a real opportunity for historians to try and understand what happened.

Ehtrusan has been completely hidden for nearly 400 years and, therefore, very little is written or known about it. Please keep this in mind during your RP
