Being the younger sister of Jarl Jerith Gofrith, Raelians often request Johanna’s attention. One particular Raelian, a merchant of fine textiles and metal wares, seems to have gotten his sights set on her. Starting as simple formal letters to offer loyal service to the Gofrith House… it isn’t long before the merchant’s letters fixate on Johanna: poems about the spirits, water, and her beauty.
With each following letter, the poems turn passionate and the penmanship worsens. They arrive daily in various spots within her living space. Even when she sails, somehow she finds something left for her to find. Soon, tokens accompany the poems, such as silver lockets, dried flower petals, a few strands of hair that match the color of Johanna’s hair.
Will Johanna confront the merchant herself? Will she speak to her brother about the matter? Will she send others to take care of it? Will she ignore it and hope the obsessive attention simply stops? And if she does confront, what shall she find? Is it simply a courter fallen madly in love or is something nefarious at play? Have the spirits gotten involved, is magic to blame, or is another noble house playing an odd game of manipulation with the Jarl’s little sister?
