Introduction

This page is about your Wealth Thread. The Wealth Thread basically is one which deals with how your PC earns wealth here on Standing Trials. As a fantasy setting, and a forum RPG, you as player and your PC have a lot of options for ways to earn. It might be that your PC has a job, and so you write about that. Or maybe they have a skill which they use to make things to sell. Perhaps they own a business, hunt for a living, con people out of money with trickery or seduction. Going on adventures, being a beggar, baker, horse breeder or butcher -all of these are ways in which your pc earns wealth.

The possibilities are as endless as your imagination!

The Wealth Thread

The Wealth Thread is, fundamentally, a thread where you deal with how your pc makes money that season. It's only one thread, but it gives you Wealth Points for the entire season. You will need to identify a Wealth Skill in that thread - please do so in the first post.

City Based PCs

Your Wealth Thread can be your job, or any other means of earning wealth your PC has. This might be working at or owning a business, for example, or your PC might host an event, sell some goods, be a sword for hire or any of a number of possibilities. The City Based PC has the most flexibility in their Wealth Thread, as they can do, literally, anything as long as it's appropriate to the level of their identified Wealth Skill

Wilderness & Seafaring PCs

For those who have chosen to live a life outside of the city, be that in the wilds or on the water - maybe the PCs who travel from place to place - how to gain wealth can be a little more restrictive. At lower levels of your identified Wealth Skill you are really focusing on surviving in the environment you are in - a sailor with a sailing skill at Novice is just learning all the time. As you get better in your Wealth Skill, you move up in the Tiers, rather than by accumulating Wealth Points. This is because, in the early stages, you will be simply surviving.

How Do I Work Out My Wages?

It couldn't be easier!

  • An Existing PC you need to make sure that you've gone through the process of converting your pc to the new system. Once you've done that, you'll know your first season's salary.

  • A New PC Your starting salary is 1 Wealth Point per season.
  • Are there any bonuses?

Yes, there are a number of things which can provide bonuses to your salary. See Seasonal Salary Bonuses for an up to date list.

    What about after that?

Simple - you add +1 Wealth Point every season that you do a new Wealth Thread. If you miss a season, that's fine, you just don't add the 1 Wealth Point for the missed season. So, each season you've done a Wealth Thread for, after the first, gains you +1 Wealth Point.

Where do I claim my wage?

Pop up a post in your PCs city, where there'll be a "wage request thread". It will have a template for you to use. You'll need to link to the thread.

    How do I record it?

You record your Wealth Tier in your User Control Panel. In the same way that you track your renown here, you should keep a total of your Wealth Tier. You are required to keep a ledger of your Wealth Points in your CS.

What Do I Have To Do?

Simply put - you have to write a story. Your Wealth Thread is a story about how your PC earns, makes, cheats, begs, swindles or otherwise accumulates money! It can be a job, a performance, selling goods or services, being a sword for hire - literally the limit is your imagination. It can be a collaboration or solo thread.

One thing we do ask is that you identify the Wealth Skill for your job in the first post. Other than that, just go and make some money!

Please note: For wilderness / seafaring PCs, your Wealth Thread might be survival at lower levels of the your skill. That is absolutely fine.
