Grandfathered Wealth

Grandfathered Wealth.jpg

Who This Applies To

Anyone who has a pc who was created under the old "Gold Nel" etc system, who has kept a coin ledger, etc. This section applies to you.
If you are a pc who has started since the Wealth Tiers came into effect? run! This page is not for you, and is likely to be uber confusing!

Conversion

Conversion to the new system requires you to undergo a very quick and basically painless process. Yes, there is some maths involved, but it's relatively straightforward. It's a three-step process. In Step 1, you have to determine your Wealth Tier. This is worked out differently depending on whether your pc is a Wage-Earning PC or a Wilderness / Seafaring one. Step 2, working out your Wealth Points and Step 3, calculating your Seasonal Wage - those are the same for everyone.

Conversion Process: Wage-Earning PCs

Rumour 01.gif

There is a straightforward process to conversion.

  • Step 1: Determine your Wealth Tier - You do this by calculating your current daily wage (of both jobs if you have two). That puts you in your current Wealth Tier. Placeholders don't count and nor do jobs completed after 1st Feb 2019, when the system went live.

  • Step 2: Determine how many Wealth Points you have This is done by considering your current GN and Property / Land etc.

  • Step 3: Determine your new Seasonal Wage - once you have your Wealth Tier, you now know your Seasonal Wage. This is the number of Wealth Points you get when you complete your Wealth Thread

Conversion Process: Wilderness & Seafaring PCs

The process to conversion changes in Step 1. Steps 2 and 3 remain the same.

  • Step 1: Determine your Wealth Tier - You do this by the current level of yours highest skill appropriate to your lifestyle. See table below.
    • For Wilderness PCs This is likely to be Hunting, Field Craft or Fishing.
    • For Seafaring PCs This is likely to be Seafaring, Navigation or Fishing

  • Step 2: Determine how many Wealth Points you have This is done by considering your current GN and Property / Land etc.

  • Step 3: Determine your new Seasonal Wage - once you have your Wealth Tier, you now know your Seasonal Wage. This is the number of Wealth Points you get when you complete your Wealth Thread

Step 1: Determine your Wealth Tier

Wage-Earning PCs Step 1

First, lets start here. So - you work out what your last daily wage was. If you have two jobs, you add them together - if you had one, then that's that. Please include in this daily wage any bonuses you had from business ownership, qualifications etc. It is not the base daily wage, it's your final one. Thanks!

PCs Daily Wage Wealth Tier Wealth Points Wage Per Season
0 - 2gn/day Tier 1 0 - 5wp 1 - 3wp/season
3 - 4 gn/day Tier 2 6 - 25wp 4 - 6wp/season
5 - 7 gn/day Tier 3 26 - 45wp 7 - 10wp/season
8 - 10gn/day Tier 4 46 - 65wp 11wp/season
11 - 20gn/day Tier 5 66 - 90wp 12 - 13wp/season
21 - 30gn/day Tier 6 91 -115wp 14 - 15wp/season
31 - 40gn/day Tier 7 116 - 140wp 16 - 17wp/season
41 - 50gn/day Tier 8 141 - 195wp 18 - 20wp/season
51 - 75gn/day Tier 9 196 - 250wp 21 - 22wp/season
76+gn/day Tier 10 251+ 23+wp/season
Example : Fred has two jobs. In Job 1 he earns 13gn x trial. In Job 2 its 8gn a trial. 13 +8= 21 - putting Fred in Tier 6 tier. Make a note, move on to step 2!

Ok. So now we know what Wealth Tier you are in, we need to work out your current seasonal wage and then, how many Wealth Points you've got stored.

Wildnerness/Seafaring Step 1

Please refer to this table for Step 1. Then proceed with Step 2 and 3 as per all other PCs.

PCs Skill Level Wealth Tier Wealth Points Wage Per Season
Novice Tier 1 0 - 5wp 1 - 3wp/season
Competent Tier 2 6 - 25wp 4 - 6wp/season
Expert Tier 3 26 - 45wp 7 - 10wp/season
Master Tier 4 46 - 65wp 11wp/season
Maximum XP Tier 5 66 - 90wp 12 - 13wp/season
Please note: Tier 5 is the highest a PC of this type can achieve at this Stage. More Wealth Points increase their Tier, but their Seasonal Wage from their Wage Thread will be determined from their Tier, like all pcs.

Step 2: Determine Accrued Wealth Points

This is a conversion of your current possessions, property, land etc which is the same process for all PCs. It is worked out in two stages.

2a: Convert Possessions

Rather than work out every individual item and its worth, every pc who is grandfathering in gets a number of Wealth Points to cover their possessions, determined by their Wealth Tier.

PCs Wealth Tier Wealth Points
Tier 1 1 Wealth Point
Tier 2 2 Wealth Points
Tier 3 3 Wealth Points
Tier 4 4 Wealth Points
Tier 5 5 Wealth Points
Tier 6 6 Wealth Points
Tier 7 7 Wealth Points
Tier 8 8 Wealth Points
Tier 9 9 Wealth Points
Tier 10 10 Wealth Points

So, now you have between 1 and 10 Wealth Points, representing the stored / accumulated wealth of your current possessions. Please Note: you keep the items, possessions, property you have. This is just a means of representing your stored and accumulated wealth as you move into the new system.

Example Fred was in Tier 6. So he's got 6 Wealth Points.

2b: Convert Land, Money, Property

This is a simple conversion. (value of land owned / 1,000) + (gold nel in banks and / or ledger / 1,000) + (value of property owned / 1,000) = number of Wealth Points. Please note in the individual calculations, please round up to the nearest whole number. Please also convert the price you paid for items, rather than current worth in the Price List.

Example Fred has 12,345gn (12,345/1,000= 12.345 = 13). His house is worth 2,000gn (2,000/1000 = 2) he has a boat worth 10,000gn (10,000/1,000 = 10). 13 + 2 + 10 = 25 Wealth Points for Fred

2c: Total Wealth Points

So, now you have two numbers - your converted possessions Wealth Points and your Converted Land etc Wealth Points. Add them together and those are the number of Grandfathered Wealth Points you have.

Example: Fred has 6 + 25= 31 Wealth Points.

Go back to that first table - the one where you determined your Wealth Tier. It gives you the base number of Wealth Points at your tier. Add your Grandfathered Wealth Points to that - and that's the number of Wealth Points you now have.

Example In the first table, Tier 6 has 91 - 115 WP. So, take the base of 91 and add 31 to it. Fred has 126 Wealth Points

But that takes me into a new Wealth Tier!? Then that's the Wealth Tier you now move to - congratulations! However - your seasonal wage is based on the Wealth Tier you worked out in Step 1.

Example Lucky Fred! He's moved up a Wealth Tier! His seasonal wage is based on Tier 6, but he's now in Tier 7 with 126 Wealth Points.

Step 3: Determine your new Seasonal Wage

Ok. So your seasonal wage is the number of Wealth Points you will get per season when you complete your Wealth Thread for the season. As stated above, it is based on the Wealth Tier you were at in Step 1. If you have maxed out your Wealth Points in that Tier - just work on the maximum there.

PCs Wage- Based Wealth Tier Wealth Points in Tier Wages per Season
Tier 1 0 - 1 Wealth Points 1 Wealth Point x Season
Tier 1 2 - 3 Wealth Points 2 Wealth Points x Season
Tier 1 4 - 5+ Wealth Points 3 Wealth Points x Season
Tier 2 6 - 11 Wealth Points 4 Wealth Points x Season
Tier 2 12 - 18 Wealth Points 5 Wealth Points x Season
Tier 2 19 - 25+ Wealth Points 6 Wealth Points x Season
Tier 3 26 - 30 Wealth Points 7 Wealth Points x Season
Tier 3 31 - 35 Wealth Points 8 Wealth Points x Season
Tier 3 36 - 40 Wealth Points 9 Wealth Points x Season
Tier 3 41 - 45+ Wealth Points 10 Wealth Points x Season
Tier 4 46 - 65+ Wealth Points 11 Wealth Points x Season
Tier 5 66 - 77 Wealth Points 12 Wealth Points x Season
Tier 5 78 - 90+ Wealth Points 13 Wealth Points x Season
Tier 6 91 - 102 Wealth Points 14 Wealth Points x Season
Tier 6 103 - 115+ Wealth Points 15 Wealth Points x Season
Tier 7 116 - 127 Wealth Points 16 Wealth Points x Season
Tier 7 128 - 140+ Wealth Points 17 Wealth Points x Season
Tier 8 141 - 158 Wealth Points 18 Wealth Points x Season
Tier 8 159 - 176 Wealth Points 19 Wealth Points x Season
Tier 8 177 - 195+ Wealth Points 20 Wealth Points x Season
Tier 9 196 - 222 Wealth Points 21 Wealth Points x Season
Tier 9 223 - 250+ Wealth Points 22 Wealth Points x Season
Tier 10 251+ Wealth Points 23 Wealth Points x Season
Example Fred started in Tier 6 and has more than the max Wealth Points (115+). He now earns 15 Wealth Points per season when he does his Wealth Thread.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. But my existing PC wealth is worse than a starter pc!
  2. Well, that shouldn't happen! Get a prophet to double check your math but, if this happens then you are able to assume that you pc is a Tier 5 or below. Pick the one that's most appropriate to your lifestyle

  3. Ok. Done all that - what now?
  4. Now you should post your calculation in this thread and it will be checked, approved and added to your Prophets Notes

  5. Ok. That's all done. So, next season, what's my wage?
  6. From now on, your wage increases by 1 Wealth Point per season.

  7. Wait - what about my yearly bonus? I've already done X seasons!
  8. No worries! When you grandfather over, if you've got 4 seasons worth of consecutive job thread, you assume that those are grandfathered in to this system - no matter which Wealth Skill you used!

  9. What if I have debt from the old nel system?
  10. If you owe a nel-based debt, round your debt to the nearest thousand and then divide by a thousand. So, if you owe a 3,200gn debt, your new debt in Wealth Points will be 3,200 rounded down to 3,000 / 1,000 = 3 WP. If you owe a 3,500gn debt, your new debt in Wealth Points will be 3,500 rounded up to 4,000 / 1,000 = 4 WP.

The exception to this rule is if you have a debt that is less than 500gn. If you have a debt that is less than 500gn, your new debt in Wealth Points will be 1 WP.
