Ephi'ta grew up wanting to join the Oludïbọ Cïkäkkẹn. Her father had been a part of the Näfäkä since she was born. His abilities had always fascinated her. He grew flowers with ease, surprising her mother with the loveliest of bouquets. Aside from her desire to protect her home, she had a love for aiding the wounded. Her mother, a hunter, would often bring dead animals into their home to be prepped for market. Ephi'ta was incredibly sensitive to this gracious slaughter. She was found on many occasions in her youth attempting to bandage a dead beast, crying at her inability to bring it back to life.
When she was of an appropriate age, her mother suggested that she go to the Olọravu Slosneppe to shadow the medicine women there. Ephi'ta was all to eager to accept this suggestion. She haunted the halls there, carrying fresh towels and changing wash basins for the experienced medics. Over time, they taught her to grind roots into powder and mix them to make healing pastes. She learned to splint and bandage serious wounds.
One of her patients, when she was approximately 27 arcs old, attacked her in a drug-induced rage. She was badly injured and immediately brought to Moseke's Temple for immediate care by the Aik. Her injuries should have caused screams of pain as they worked on her. She simply bit the stick they gave her and cried through the pain, too stunned by her own blood to acknowledge the world.
She sat, huddled in one of the hidden rooms in the temple. Some questioned if she would ever be able to practice medicine again. Others hoped that she would recover enough to return to a functional life. It was during this period of time that she dreamed of her familiar. One night, she disappeared into the Makubwa Lori. Her parents were concerned that a fever had taken her sanity.
When she came back to Desnind two seasons later, she explained to the Aik that she disappeared due to the call of her familiar. Her winged snake hung over her shoulder as she told them of her journey. She even brought them gifts of new herbs she believed would be useful for medicines, having been guided by Moseke herself in her endeavors to survive. Completed with her familiar, Ephi'ta was welcomed into the Aik for her achievements.
Ephi'ta never picked up a knife to perform surgery, still afraid of profuse bleeding to this day. She prefers to work with the sick and dying rather than traumatic injuries. While treating an old woman in a coma, she met Francis. This dying woman had been his adoptive mother. Over several trials, they would spend long nights sharing her stories. Then they chatter would turn into their stories. Finally, they were forced to wish her well into the rebirth cycle. Since then, Ephi'ta and Francis have been inseparable.
Some of the Dabi Mẹẹdọgun are skeptical of Ephi'ta's ability to lead the Aik. She had only been the Dabi Imọvi for 5 arcs now, personally placed into the position by Moseke. Many believed there were better candidates but did not wish to argue Moseke's choice. They await for Ephi'ta to achieve a great feat. As an asset to the Cïkäkkẹn and Moseke, they believe her placement as Dabi Imọvi is to complete an unknown prophecy of some kind.
